Youko Kurama held his life mate close, nothing needing to be said.
Hiei was all he needed now, all

he needed to be happy. 'It took us a while to understand what we meant
to each other, now, I just cannot imagine

a life without him' Kurama thought. It has been many years since the
their group of Reiki Tantai moved on- the two

of them living in the Maiki since Kurama's human life had ended,
Yuusuke living in his part of the Maiki, visiting every

so often, Kuwara long dead- Yukina's life now in the Maiki, though
always watching over the generations of the children

in the Nigenki. There were times they got together and talked about
the times past, of loved ones gone and memories

that will never fade away. Hiei shifted in his arms, the two of them
lying on what was close akin to a bed. Kurama lifted

his head and looked out the window of the tree house, watching the
branches sway in the Maiki breeze. Having a tree

house was safer then living on the ground, though Kurama's protection
plants would warn them of any danger, even if that

danger managed to get past the wards.

It was another lazy afternoon in the Maiki. Hiei had been sharpening
his katana for the greater part of the afternoon.

That was until a sex-crazed kitsune jumped him and snatched him back
to bed.

Not exactly being carried, but Hiei was just understanding that the
kitune was taking off what little clothes he wore

in those few seconds before he was dumped on the floor and serously
latched onto.

Two hours later, they were just enjoying the feel of each other, so
close, bound by much more then words. Kurama

moved and kissed the ward over Hiei's jagen. Hiei opened his eyes and
looked up at his mate, picking at a few strands of

the youko's silver hair. Kurama moved again and spooned Hiei tigher to
him. Hiei leaned in and nipped at the mark on

Kurama's neck, the one that marked them as life partners.

"Don't get lost, kitsune, I'm right here," Hiei lightly said and
kissed the mark.

"Just thinking too deeply about the past," Kurama sighed. He brought
his right hand up, tracing the muscles of

Hiei's arm, over his upper chest and up over his neck. He leaned into
Hiei, "And thinking about the future," and he kissed

his life mate on the lips, for a deepening kiss.

After they seperate, a small giggle emenates the room and a voice
says: "Koemna-sama wants to speak with you two."

Both turn toward the ceiling.

"Botan," simultanously spoken with a minature sweatdop on their
foreheads, both with no clothes on or any

movement to cover themselves.

"Don't you ever knock," Kurama mumbled.

"Koemna needs us?" Hiei spoke, intensly glaring at the girl on the oar
above them.

"As soon as possible guys." Botan lifted her sleeved hand over her
mouth and laughed. "Well, he said come as

soon as possible."

Kurama facefaulted in the bed, draggng Hiei down with him. He shook it
off, moving to unspoon Hiei from him

and sat crosslegged next to his life mate's form.

"You already missed it," the two of them mumbled.

Hiei moved and wrapped his arms over Kurama's waiste. "We'll put some
clothes on," Hiei monotonly said.

20 mins later.....

Kurama and Hiei held on to each other as they flew on Botan's oar.
Both had the same thought in their

head: why did we let Botan talk us into flying with her, we should
know better.

"Botan!" Kurama shouted over the rush of wind as they saw the palace
in the not so far off distance.

"Can't slow down, Koenma-sama said to hurry," Botan said as they
entered the palace doors.

"Hn," Hiei muttered as they came to the doors of Koenma's office.

Botan gently pushed open the doors. The three of them peered in as
they spied the toddler demi-god on the

desk covered with piles of paper and ready to talk. George stood a
foot in front of the opened door.

"George, please folow my request," Koenma commanded as he gestured
George out and the three of them

in. "Botan, you are dismissed."

Botan bit her tounge as Kurama and Hiei stepped into the room as
George moved past Botan, closing

the door infront of her.

"Kurama, Hiei, I require your assistance once agian, if I may," Koenma
moved some papers on his

desk and pulled out a folder and clutched it to his chest as he
continued. "Some is stealing souls from the Reiki."

Kurama annd Hiei moved foward to the desk, standing into one another.

"Stealing souls?" Kurama inquired.

"Someone or something is getting them before they get sent here to be
judged and someone or something

is stealing them at other stages also," Koenma stated.

"Isn't this a job for the current Reiki Tantai?" Kurama asked the
demi-god.

"They are very busy handling other matters currently." Koenma looked
from one to the other, sitting down

in his big chair, the folder still in his hand, "Do you two know the
current situation in the Nigenkai?"

"No," Kurama responded as Hiei shook his head no. "Yukina follows her
descents' lives in the Nigenkai,

last we heard, the people there were living in colonies, and a time of
peace was currently installed. I remember her

talking about a war over there for a number of years, and peace,
repeatidly." Kurama shrugged, "The waltz of

peace and war will never end."

"The Nigenkai is at war again."

"Studip Nigens," Hiei said outloud.

"Violence is in their systems, even the most peaceful person is
capable of it." Kurama

remembered his years as Minamano Shuuichi.

"It has become a very complicated matter, my desk has been
ovderflowing with work," Koenma

gestured over his desk. "Again, the colonies are rebelling against the
ways of Earth, this time it's the Federation,

last time it was the Principality of Zion. The Federation has been
taken over by OZ- Organization of the Zodiac-and

Oz is being run by a group called the Rommerfella Foundation." The
demi-god looked to his two former tantai. "The

space colonies that lay between the Earth and moon house collectivly
over six million people. There has been

hundreds of civillian casualties on both sides, even through they
desprietly try to avoid those type of casualties.

Both sides want peace, but it will not come easy."

Koenma held out the folder to the two yoko in front of him. "Kurama,
Hiei, I am asking a favor of the two of

you, I ask that you two become students at the high school listed in
this folder and stop the person and/or thing behind

the stealing of the souls."

Kurama took the folder from the demigod, flipping through the file.
"This student, you believe has something to

do with the case, being able to see spirits." Hiei stood at his side,
attempting to read some of the file. "School just

happens to be in the modern day version of Japan, how coincidental."

"Hn," Hiei spoke at the prospect of being a student.

"Hiei, could you just behave for this mission and act like a regular
student, with some sort of normalacy." Koemna

watched the koorime's reaction: glare glare glare. Koemna turned
briefly back to his desk, shuffling a few papers around,

he pulled out another folder. "These will be your persona's, Hiei, you
will be Fujimaya Ran, and Kurama, yours is Meio Omi."

The demigod handed them the second folder. "You two should be rooming
together, just try not to get thrown out from school

or anything of that sort-including for fighting." A disapointed look
from Hiei as he encircled Kurama in his arms. "George

should be back any moment now. George is bringing back me something
from my father's vault that will allow Kurama to

be in a form very similar to Minnamano Shuuichi. Hiei, I trust that
you can handle being like you are now. No questions

will be asked about the bandage around your wrist or the bandana over
your forehead, unless you would like some sort

of invinsibility spell for it."

"I can handle it," Hiei said.

The doors to his room opened, causing the desk to shake, and an out of
breathe George ran in.

"I got it, Koemna-sama," he handed it to the demigod.

"Thank you George, that will be all." Koenma waved George out, the
doors closing behind him.

"As I said, this will allow you to become a form similar to your old
form." He handed the potion to Kurama, "It lasts

for only 10 hours, be wary, only be in your natural form in your
room." Koenma moved and returned to his desk, sitting down.

"I suggest the two of you practise responding to Ran and Omi, get some
sleep, or maybe not, but your mission starts in two

human days, things will be provided for you." Koenma nodded bye at the
two of them, before returning to his paperwork.

Kurama and Hiei nodded back, and walked out of the room.

After a small stressed ride back to thier place on Botan's oar, they
settled down to practise responding to their names.

"Fujimaya Ran," Hiei repeated to himself.

"Son Omi," Kurama followed suit.

"Ran," Kurama, said.

"Omi," Hiei repeated back.

"Ran," Kurama said, now becogning Hiei to his lap.

"Omi," Hiei answered, sitting upon his lap.

"Ran, ai shiteru," Kurama said, staring into his lover's eyes.

"Omi, ai shiteru," Hiei mumbled, placing his jagen against Kurama's
face, leaning down to kiss his lifemate. After they broke from the
kiss, Hiei settled down and tenderly nuzzeled the mark of mating. "I
don't think they'd mind if I reapplied this everytime I get you
alone," Hiei whispered into his ear.

"I know I wouldn't mind," Kurama mumbled back, kissing the jagen upon
his lovers' head.

"Omi."

"Ran."
