A Heart Worth Waiting For

A fear he had never felt before rushed through his whole body and he started to shiver and shake his head. He could feel his heart rate quicken and he found himself short of breath quickly. He took a few deep breathes and then carried on walking down the street feeling his face go red. But he would rather be red than laying unconscious on the floor. Think of the embarrassment when he woke up. He wouldn't be able to live with that. Day to day people just walking past a body just laying lifeless on the floor. This was America, no body helped you when you were in America.

His doctor had warned him that this would happen from time to time. Go dizzy feel like just falling to the floor and sleeping for eternity. This was the first time it had happened though and he didn't like it. Eyesight fading then coming back, an annoying ringing sensation in both ears. He had to reach his hand out to a wall just to steady himself.

As he reached the end of the busy high street he stopped and sat at an old wooden bench. He then allowed his head to hang for a short while, while the blood flow continued correctly to his head and more importantly his brain. He felt in to his pocket for his wallet and he pulled it out. He flipped open the black leather and pulled out the note he had received that morning. He read it through again.

Dear Duo,

How have you been? It has been such a while since we met and talked and I have hoped for such a long time now that we could meet up again. I know that it may be hard for you after the way I left you but you must have understood that my job came first? Well, I'm back now and I hope that maybe we could talk and carry on where we left off?

Maybe I'm just wishful thinking but I hope that maybe you would like to see me too? If you would then meet me near the river at the south end of Rort Street on whatever day you get this letter, I will make sure I am there. At whatever time you wish, my days are spent freely and time doesn't matter to me.

I hope to see you there so as we can catch up on memories

Yours Faithfully

Heero Yuy

Duo sighed and folded the piece of paper back up and put it back in his wallet. He then looked up to the sun. This was definitely the south end of Rort Street. Duo could hear the river water splashing a little way behind him. He turned and looked round. There were a few more benched like the one he was sitting at. He stood up and walked over to one of them. Looking around for Heero. He then saw a familiar shape sitting at one of the benches and he walked over to it and sat down.

"Is this seat taken?" He asked. The man turned and looked to the man with long brown hair, still tied back in a braid like it had been five years ago. The man smiled.

"Duo?" Duo smiled and nodded.

"Yup, it's me." Heero smiled and sighed. "You're still looking good after five years. Haven't changed much at all. Skins a bit darker though." Heero smiled.

"I did a lot of traveling. You haven't changed much either. Hair still the same." Duo nodded.

"I'm attached to hair. Physically and emotionally. Been growing it too long to cut it." Heero threw his head back and laughed.

"It's great to see you again, it really is."

"But why did you want to see me?" Duo asked. Heero brought his head back again and looked at Duo.

"I've missed you man. I've missed you a lot. I traveled, I met people. I was Quatre and Trowa a few times. They were happy together. Sure but I just kept thinking about you. There's this emotion that just gets fulfilled whenever I'm around you." Duo smiled but then was overwhelmed with sadness.

"I think I understand what you're saying but please, you can't feel that way about me. I..." Duo then stopped and hung his head. "I'm ill."
