Chapter 6

Duo's eyes opened slowly, Cor was back again to help. The boy reached out and gently brushed Duo's now loose hair away from his face, whispering to him, talking to him. Duo drank water, but was listless. The bucket that served as his restroom was replaced. Cor took Duo's head gently into his lap. Someone so great, with so much suffering didn't deserve to go this way. Duo opened his mouth, his voice hoarse.

"Cor, please, I need help." The young boy sighed, nodding.

"I got today off for you, no one will come for you today."

The boy pulled out a key and lengthened the chain tethering Duo closely in one spot, but needed to help him to the nearby cot. Duo laughed, overcome by the irony of it all. No one had ever tucked him into bed since the days of father Maxwell and sister Helen, and now, so close to the end, once again being tucked into bed by someone who was not his parent. Cor smiled worriedly, Duo's infections had become fever.

WuFei was exhausted, even getting himself a cup of coffee was enough to make him need to sit down. When was the last time he had slept? It must have been two days ago, no wonder he was so tired. Heero plopped himself across from Wufei at the table.

"WuFei, Duo's been gone almost a month." Wufei nodded, apparently aware of the fact. "I think it's time we asked for some help" Wufei looked at Heero questioningly.

"I think we should call Quatre and Trowa."

WuFei looked surprised. "You really think that'll help?"

Heero nodded. "I'm sure of it. When you're done with your coffee, why don't you call up Quatre, I'll work on trying to figure out where the hell Trowa is."

WuFei dumped his coffee down the drain. "I'll do that right now if I can sleep afterwards." Heero chuckled to himself and nodded to his friend.

"Hello Rashid, is Quatre there? We need to talk."

Rashid's image nodded. "Yes Master Quatre is here sir, wait one minute while I get him." Wufei nodded as Rashid left to find Quatre. A moment later Quatre's image filled the screen.

"Wufei! What's up? I haven't talked to you in ages!" Wufei felt like rolling his eyes, Quatre hadn't changed at all in five years. Aside from filling out a little more, he was pretty much the same twenty-two-year-old little kid.

"Quatre, Heero and I need your help." Quatre's head bobbed enthusiastically.

"What's the matter? How can I help?" Wufei knew the next few months were going to be one giant headache.

"Duo's been missing for about two weeks and we're sure he's been abducted."

The blonde's mouth fell open. "I'll be there tomorrow, anything else?"

WuFei nodded "Do you know where Trowa is? We're going to ask him to help too, as soon as we figure out where he is." A loud stream of expletives from Heero's direction punctuated the Chinese boy's comment. Apparently, Heero's Laptop had crashed. Again.

Quatre snorted "Of course I know where Trowa is, you really think that I'd lose track of him?" Wufei smiled, it was going to be just like old times again.

Duo woke, his head feeling light, his vision blurry. He was back on the floor, the bed was too comfortable for some bastard who nailed him in his sleep. `Damn must have slept more than a day, I must be close to dying by now…oh, god please, please let me die.' He thought of his dark haired friend, wondering how long it took them to notice he had been missing. He smiled wearily. `I wonder if they even care, they're both so stiff.'

He could feel himself dying, feel himself turning skeletal and infection running rampant through his system. He eyed the door in resignation. He could hear more footsteps approaching. He no longer cared, he welcomed his fate with open arms. How many times was this now? He couldn't remember. They had taken him when he was out too, which was more often than he was awake. He snickered `Seems like Shinigami is destructible after all.'

There were two this time, each hulking and muscled. Duo almost laughed, each time they took him it dulled the pain, killed him just that much more. He longed for the day when they pushed him too far. He smiled, watching the two bicker, the taller of the two shoved the smaller into the wall; he had won the argument.

The taller man caressed Duo's lips while the smaller wasted no time walking to his rectum, a gaping bloody thing and pushing his way inside. He met no resistance, Duo ceased to struggle, to care. The tall one thrust into Duo's bruised lips again and again. Duo wondered briefly if he would suffocate and finally be rid of the pain before the blackness seized his vision.

Trowa sat at his desk in the tiny trailer. It had been five years, five miserable, lonely years. He sighed, despite the daily thrill of soaring through the air on a trapeze, he remained glum and unresponsive. He ran a hand through his hair, feeling ages old, bored with life. `Quatre, why did I run, when I could have stayed?' he knew exactly why he had run, he was scared, scared of feeling, of caring for someone. The feelings burning inside him frightened him when nothing else could. He was not afraid of speeding daggers, or gigantic robots, but the thought of caring for someone sent him wheeling. He sighed; he couldn't understand why he couldn't move on, why he couldn't just enjoy life with his sister in the circus. It was all he needed wasn't it?

Trowa slammed a fist down on his desk.

"Damn him!"

Catherine smirked as she closed the door behind her. "Damn who, Trowa?"

Trowa sighed, and stretched his long, sinuous body in an arc. "No one in particular."

They both sat in silence, things had been getting increasingly intense between the two for the past year or two. Trowa was acting like a captive wild cat. He was constantly pacing, like he was trapped. Catherine jumped when their small vidphone rang. Trowa eyed the thing with distaste. Catherine sat before it and answered the call. Trowa laid his head in his arms, why was he so tired all the time?

Catherine gave him a gentle shove. "Weren't you listening? It's for you." Catherine slid Trowa's rolling chair over towards the vidphone while shoving her own out of the way.

"I'm going to go… water the plants!"

Trowa shook his head. "We don't have any plants." He sighed and diverted his attention from his sister's back running out the door. The tall man's jaw slackened as he stared at the screen.

"Hey Trowa! It's been ages! I've missed you tons!" the blond boy practically had his face to the screen. Trowa blinked.

"Quatre!?" The blonde sat back and smiled, although something about it looked forced. Quatre chuckled.

"I missed you Trowa." Trowa smiled, the small half smile that only Quatre could draw from him.

"I missed you as well Quatre." Quatre's eyes glimmered and he clutched his head in his hands. Trowa leaned forward in his seat, a frown etched deep lines into his features. "Hey, Quatre, Is something wrong?" Quatre straitened, his smile pained.

"Trowa, can you be ready to leave in a few hours?"

The young brunette was startled. "Sure…I guess, but what's going on?" Quatre sighed.

"WuFei and Heero called me yesterday. They need our help. Duo's been abducted."

Trowa's eyes widened. "Shit"

Quatre nodded. "I've got a ship and all forty manganacs ready to go. I'll pick you up before heading over to their place in New York City."

Trowa nodded. "I'll be ready. Oh and Quatre?" Quatre cocked his head. "How did you find me anyway?" Quatre just smiled before killing the connection.
