Chapter 7

The conference room was deathly silent. Heero looked down at the papers in front of him, hoping that the moment would pass and he wouldn't have to say anything. But a long minute passed in utter silence and Heero was forced to look up.

He quickly scanned the around the room in panic, looking for some kind of help, he glanced first at Relena, who was chewing her lip and hiccupping, then Zechs, who was staring at him, arms crossed with a very.... intense expression. No help there…

He looked towards Quatre and Duo, hoping they, as his comrades and fellow gundam pilots would say something.

Duo however, was completely oblivious to everyone in the room save Hilde, and Quatre was staring at the ceiling humming oh so innocently too himself.

Stein meanwhile was smiling smugly to himself, thinking, Not bad stein, not only have you made that little prick commander bite his tongue, you've made Mister-high-and-mightly-lightening-count-Zechs-Merquize look like the homicidal dickhead that he is!…heh heh….The cocky little commander Yuy isn't so sure of himself now!…I don't see him jumping up to defend Zechs…

About when he was wishing for a hole to swallow him, or a bomb to go of near by and distract people, Noin caught Heero's eye. Trying desperately to subtle, Lieutenant Noin first waggling her eyebrows, waited for a second then coughed softly, paused again, then wriggled her nose. When Heero stared at her with a dumb expression she pointed at Zechs then conveniently patted her hair…

"I see I was correct!" Noin flinched as Stein erupted loudly from his chair, "Nobody can prove that Zechs Merquize, or Millardo Peacecraft, whatever he calls himself, didn't have every intention to destroy earth!"

His supporters sniggered appreciatively.

Noin renewed her facial twitching, attempting to get Heero to speak.

Representive Lee, the woman who had spoken against Stein earlier, raised her voice, "The last time I checked, General Milliardo was not the one on trial here."

Stein started to reply, but was cut off by Noin, who slammed her fist into the table suddenly, then glared openly at Heero.

He felt the eyes of everyone in the room bore into his skull.

….shitttt!!!

Heero paused, took a deep breath then said loudly in a clear voice, "Zechs did destroy most of the last piece of Libra before it hit earth. He sacrificed his Gundam, the Epyon, and almost died."

Everyone in the room, (save Relena who was still out of it and playing with a strand of her hair), stared at him opened mouth. Noin smiled gratefully, and with relief, Zechs' traditional pissed off expression he saved for Heero softened slightly.

Stein grunted, "So, You! You are the mighty Gundam Pilot of Wing Zero?! You! Ha!" he and the Lute representatives laughed.

Relena suddenly stood, and stared stonily at Stein. His laughter slowly died. She stood, silently looking at him for a full minute and didn't say anything. Then, with a cold, expressionless voice she said to Stein, "Get out of my house." She pointed to the door.

Stein spluttered in shock, "What!? What do you think you're doing! You can't say this to me! I'm.."

Then raised her voice slightly "As chairperson of this Conference I am dismissing you. Leave my house."

Stein had turned his trademark purple, "How dare you! You can't do this!"

"Yes I can. Out."

"But, you need a majority to dismiss a representative!"

"Very well! All in favour?"

All hands in the room shot into the air, along with a many large smiles.

Relena spoke again, "Out. You have insulted me, my family and every other representative here. You are dismissed. Out, now!"

Stein rose slowly and stalked towards the door and opened it, revealing the media, "You'll regret this girl. You and your cocky little boyfriend". He glared at Heero.

However, his insult's effect was destroyed when a pink iced doughnut with sprinkles splattered into the side of his head. Cameras clicked. Stein's purple face distorted in shock and anger.

Duo laughed loudly, "Good shot Hilde babe!"

Zechs smiled, then turned to Duo, "What are you doing in here?"

"Hey Zechs my man! You know me... Ah! Hey!" Stein had charged Duo and was trying, and failing to hold him in a head lock.

Hilde quickly grabbed Stein's neck and started to choke him.

"Get off my man u bastard!!"

Stein managed to elbow Hilde in the face, and was promptly set upon by several of Quatre's maganacs.

More cameras clicked and a cameraman even ventured into the room for a close up.

Noin and some of the representatives joined in and tried to separate everyone. Relena was no where to be seen.

Some minutes later Stein was taken away in custody, and the meeting adjourned.

Heero found himself alone in the conference room with… Duo, who was being `comforted' by Hilde…

"Um, I'm still in here…"

"Oh, sorry Heero…"

"Before I go, did either of you two see where Relena went?"

Hilde smirked.. "Isn't that her foot? Poking out from under the table there?"

Just then a very loud snore errupted from the table. So loud Relena woke herself up, "Huh? What?..Did I fall asleep!? Oh my god! How embarrassing! Did anyone notice?", she paused, "Um, Duo, Hilde… I'm standing right here…"

"Oh, riiightt..hee hee…"

Meanwhile, across town, in a somewhat cramped, but very neat office in the Preventers headquarters, two people sat crouched over a computer screen.

"Can't you make it go any faster?"

"No."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes!"

"Oh! Look! It's finished!!"

"..well yes.."

"Hey, these pictures are better than I thought! Oh My God! What are they doing!?"

"I'm not sure…"

"I didn't think that was physically possible!"

"Oh that? I could do that."

"really?"

"Of course!"

"I don't believe you."

"I can so!"

"Prove it."

"what!? How could I prove it?!…oh."

Stein glare at the guards surrounding him. How dare they lock me up like a common criminal! I am Chief Representative Stein of the Lute alliance! When the boar finds out about my treatment… I'll be able to make that little girl and her cocky boyfriend pay…yes…heh heh..

Just then the door opened and Stein glared at the tall impeccably dressed man who entered his room, Zechs.

He walked over to where stein was seating eating his lunch.

"Well Stein. I see that temper of yours is hasn't changed."

"Hmph."

"I remember when I used to count you as a friend, Stein. Before you betrayed me, and countless other soldiers"

"I did what I had to."

"No, you did what you had to get the most money."

"What!? What do you think you're doing!"

Zechs had pulled a gun on Stein. "I .. `found' these." He threw a stack of papers at Stein, "There prove you came here, to a peace conference trying to cause war. You planned to have my sister, myself, Noin and Yuy assassinated to help cause war. War that you could grow fat again on."

"no! I never!…"
