"Quatre," The violet eyed man's voice was low, and said violets were shadowed when he spoke, "Stop dancing around this. Who are we going to see?" The American braced himself, feeling his stomach turn, as he already knew the answer. Quatre sighed and looked into dark violets, "We're going to see Heero."
+++
"WHAT?!" Wufei would have fallen over if it weren't for the fact that he was already sitting on his large bed within the quiet bedroom. His dark slanted eyes were wide in disbelief as he looked at his wife, a sheepish but excited smile on her face, "Damn it Onna! How could you NOT notice THIS?!" His voice was loud and carried throughout the house.
The blonde's smile quickly turned into an indignant frown, "Well I'm sorry. I've been pretty busy you know!" Even as she argued she squirmed slightly, crossing and uncrossing her legs nervously as her fingers laced together. "I mean I could tell something was wrong, and that I had been gaining weight, but I just thought I was tired because of taking care of Heero and…" She stopped when her husband's dark brow twitched slightly and his fists were tightened.
"But THIS? HOW?" He stood up from his spot on the bed and began to pace slightly in front of the blonde who merely looked up at him amusedly. The Chinese stopped suddenly, however, after a moment and closed his eyes pinching the bridge of his nose praying his migraine wouldn't set in, "Tell me this, dear. How is it that for the past THREE months you didn't notice anything out of the ordinary?" The blue-eyed woman had to contain her laughter as she looked up at her husband, his breathing had almost become labored and his face was getting redder by the minute.
Taking a deep breath the woman smiled and gingerly stood up from the bed to grab both of her husband's hands within her own, "Wufei, I love you. This is one of the happiest moments of our lives. Try to relax will you?" The Chinese preventer sighed, releasing his tension all in that one breath, and looked up into his wife's loving blue eyes.
Bringing his arms around her slightly rounder waist he pulled her against him in an almost hesitant hug, "I'm sorry. You're right. I shouldn't have reacted this way." He blinked rapidly as tears started to gather in his lashes, but refused to let them fall. "Is this really happening?" he whispered and kissed the pale neck beneath him. Feeling the other nod he couldn't contain the grin the spread over his cheeks as he pulled the other back and held her at arms length. "We're having a baby!" he nearly screamed and lifted the unprepared and slightly heavier woman into the air spinning her around in his happiness.
The blonde smiled and laughed at her husband's reaction, then suddenly the smile was gone and she cried out, "Wufei!" Hearing the panicked cry the slender man quickly placed his wife down gently, who hurriedly rushed off to the bathroom, her small hands over her mouth. After standing dumbstruck, watching his wife nearly sprint to the bathroom, the raven-haired man blinked then rushed off to the bathroom to help his pregnant wife. (1)

A large mouth stretched and pulled into a tired yawn, as the braided man stepped off of the plane, and lifted his free hand above his head, extending the cramped muscles. The small child within his hold nuzzled the warm shoulder his sleeping head rested on, but otherwise didn't stir. Smiling down lovingly on his sleeping son, violet eyes looked up to met with weary aquamarine, "Is the limo downstairs?" he asked as he slowly walked down the terminal.
The petite blonde nodded leaning against his taller lover for support, "It should be waiting outside with our luggage." The braided man nodded and suppressed another yawn as he spotted the sliding doors. Once they were outside they quickly noted the waiting white limousine and stepped in. Gently stroking his son's head distractedly, the American merely stared out the window unseeing, all he could see were a pair of cobalt eyes.

Sally smiled again as she felt the tentative hand on her stomach and looked up to see her husband stare in wonderment at her slightly bulged belly. Turning back to the television she nearly felt her heart jump out of her chest as the doorbell suddenly echoed throughout the house, "They're here!" she said and kissed her husband softly. Feeling cautious hands guide her up from her spot on the couch she stood and walked over, hand in hand with her husband, to the door where Demitri already stood turning the door-handle.
The first thing that came into view was a small burst of bright blonde locks that were closely followed by the tall and banged outline of the man behind him. The blonde doctor smiled and rushed forward grabbing onto the Arabian who was only inches taller then herself. "Quatre," she cried, kissing him on the cheek lightly.
The blonde smiled and pulled the woman away from him at arms length looking her over, she seemed…fuller then the last time he'd seen her, more shapely. "Hello Sally! How have you and Wufei been?"
Nodding the woman smiled warmly up at her friends and family, "We've been fine," she answered turning to the taller man behind him. "Trowa," she greeted the man, with open arms, who immediately pulled the braided woman into a hug. "It's so good to see you," she said as she pulled back and casually tried to look around the taller man to see the figure behind him.
Wufei smiled hugging the shorter blonde to him tightly and turned to the shorter boy's green-eyed lover shaking his hand and hugging him with a strong pat on the other's back. He stopped, however, when he heard the shriek from his wife and turned in time to see her latch on to the tall braided man halfway through the door.
The violet-eyed man chuckled as he struggled to steady himself, "Woah! I missed you too Sall," he said as he brought his free arm around the blonde's waist. Smiling down at the doctor he bounced the still sleeping child in his arm, on his hip and walked into the hallway with the others.
"I'm so happy you're here! Wufei and I have talked about you and wanted to see you and little Cam for so long," the blonde said smiling up brightly at the taller braided man. She backed away from him, pulling him with her over to her husband who smiled up at him and hugged him soundly, mindful of the sleeping toddler in his arms.
"It's good to see you," the Chinese said as he pulled back and turned to hold his wife around her waist. "When Quatre called us this morning and told us you were coming we didn't know what to do," he continued a brief image of the distressed Japanese flashing through his mind.
The braided man nodded and stepped forward, pulling his other arm around to support his sleeping son, "It's good to see you too, Fei," he said and grinned, not missing the unspoken words in that one sentence.
Nodding the Chinese blinked then extended an arm to the middle-aged man with slightly graying hairs, still beside the now closed front door, "I'm sorry, this is Demitri, our butler," at the introduction the older man merely nodded and bowed slightly walking back down the hallway and into the kitchen. "Please, let's go into the living room. Demitri said dinner would be ready soon and it's almost seven so I hope you're hungry."
The group was lead into the spacious living room, with numerous sofas and a quiet television lit in the front. Duo sighed sitting down, his eyes catching the suited figure of the limousine driver as he set the bags down in the adjacent hallway. Quatre turned nodding to the man who soundlessly left the house. Feeling the sudden ache in his arms from the bundle in them, Duo turned to the blonde doctor seated next to her husband, "Hey, Sall?" When the woman turned to him he continued, "Do you think you could show me to my room so I could put the little guy to bed?"
Her light blue eyes falling momentarily on the sleeping boy she hastily nodded and stood waving him over to the staircase, "It's been so long since we last saw each other," she said quietly as they made their way up the stairs. "I think the last time we saw you was right after Cameron was born."
Violet eyes were focused on the stairs beneath him as Duo nodded, "That's right. It's already been three years." He could hear the woman above him hum to herself in consent as they finally reached the last step and made their way down a hallway past a series of closed doors. "Damn Sall," he said whistling slightly, "Just how big is this house?" He could hear the blonde giggle slightly before she stopped in front of a door.
"Wufei wants lots of children," she said smiling to herself as she stepped into the clean guestroom, "and so do I." The braided man grinned down at her rubbing the little boy's back. He looked around the room, it was a nice sized room with a television sitting on a chest, a closet and bathroom door, a fairly large window and two nightstands on either side of the queen-sized bed. Silently making his way to the bed he pulled his son's overalls away from him and slipped on a small but loose shirt.
Sleepy violets opened momentarily, blinking lazily then drifted shut without a word, the action had caused the father to hold his breath, until the young boy had settled down and merely rolled over. Sighing the American pulled the blanket down and over the sleeping child. He smiled down tenderly and leaned forward to kiss his son, then placed a small stuffed animal next to the boy as he straightened and turned to the blonde a few feet from him.
The doctor's light blue eyes were set on the sleeping boy on the bed, her eyes seemed to glow as she looked up into her friend's warm eyes, "He's grown so much…" She whispered, keeping her voice down for the baby's sake. Duo nodded, letting the other continue, "He's so beautiful Duo. He truly is, you and Hilde must be so proud." She complimented the tiny boy, unknowing at how rigid the man beside her had become at the mention of his wife.
"That's why we came Sally," he paused causing the blonde to look up at him curiously, "Hilde isn't proud of him. She could care less whether he lives or dies." Violet eyes were hollow and distant as they looked down on the unknowing child on the bed, his voice held a kind of disgusted tone when he spoke about his wife. The woman he'd pledged to love beyond death only five years earlier.
Red lips parted in a clearly audible gasp when the braided woman heard how her friend spoke about his wife, in all the excitement about her own baby, she'd forgotten how Duo and Hilde were getting a divorce.
Hearing the cold comment the blonde stepped forward and wrapped her arms around the tall brunette, "It's all right, Duo," she said, keeping her eyes on the boy asleep on the bed, "We're here for you." The other's body was hard, and uninviting as if the hug was unwelcome, but Sally continued to press her cheek against him tightly until she felt loose arms drape around her. Finally relenting, she released the taller man and stepped back, smiling only to suddenly feel a small pang of worry hit her as a sad pair of cobalt eyes assaulted her.
Blinking she hastily stepped away from the braided man and closer to the bedroom door, "heh…" she struggled to think of something to say so that she could lead the other back downstairs and away from the potentially awaking blue-eyed boy a few doors down. "We should get back downstairs. I'm sure dinner's ready and I'm sure you have a baby monitor…" she trailed off looking up expectantly at the other who merely looked back at her curiously.
"Yeah…ok," he said and hurriedly pulled out the small white baby monitor from the sky blue bag he carried with him. Setting up the small device he gently rubbed the dark tuft of hair on the sleeping child's head, stooping low to deliver a feather light kiss. "So what's for dinner?" he whispered as he and the blonde closed the bedroom door shut gently. However, as he closed the door he never noticed the small red light on the baby monitor flicker and give out.
Wufei turned from his conversation with his two friends, a smile on his face, to see his wife and his other braided companion making their way down the long flight of stairs. Watching his wife gingerly step down each step raised a slight protective flare and he turned to the two in front of him, asking them to come into the dining room. As he and the other's stood he quickly made his way over to the blonde and offered her both his hands. Still hand in hand with the shorter woman he smiled to his guests and lead them into the adjacent dining room, where the faithful butler awaited.
"If you are ready, my lady and gentlemen, dinner is served," the light haired man said and silently pulled out a chair for the doctor. After everyone was seated the older man bowed slightly and left only to return moments later with soup and bread for everyone.
Seeing her loyal friend serving them, the braided woman blushed, "Thank you so much for dinner, Demitri," at the other's nod she continued looking at her friends. "He doesn't usually prepare and serve Wufei and I like this, but since I was at work all day he offered to prepare us a special meal. I told him our old war heroes were coming for a long awaited visit." She smiled as the three in front of her grinned, and blushed slightly at the praise.
Hearing his wife, and realizing all the trouble that the older man had gone to Wufei nodded, "Yes thank you for preparing what I'm sure will be a wonderful dinner, Demitri." The older man's dark eyes sparkled and he nodded at the compliments, leaving to bring out salads and salmon. The others around the table laughed and talked, catching up on events that had happened to them in the past years, but carefully dancing around the taboo subjects of the dark-haired boy upstairs and the dark-haired woman out of Duo's life.
As the night progressed a little music was added, and the group of adults were enjoying themselves as they laughed reminiscing with old memories. Duo chuckled remembering all the times Quatre would have to break up his and Wufei's many arguments. "I remember all the times I would have to sleep with my braid wrapped around my arms just to make sure you wouldn't cut it off…not to mention all the nights I spent in my Gundam trying to keep Heero from-." All conversation stopped as the Japanese boy was suddenly thrown into the conversation, and all eyes were suddenly downcast. Sally almost yelped as she dropped her fork and it clanked loudly against the expensive china.
Having heard the sudden clank and lack of conversation, the slender butler hurriedly bustled into the room, taking in a deep breath as he felt the thick tension. Darting his dark eyes back and forth across each person's face, each one looking more uncomfortable then the last he searched his mind for a suitable distraction and settled on desert, seeing as everyone looked finished. "Ah, I see you've all finished your meals and were merely waiting for the last course, forgive me for the wait." He said hastily and continued when heads slowly started to look up.
"Tonight I made two specialties. I made a rich chocolate mousse or a lighter strawberry torte." As he listed out the two delicious sweets everyone looked up except the last person, his eyes were still downcast and shoulders had seemed to slump. "Mr. Maxwell? I've heard about your notorious love for chocolate…I made the mousse in hopes of your approval."
He sighed silently in relief when cheerful violet eyes met his and a pleasant smile was plastered on the braided man's face, "That would be perfect. I'd love to try it Demitri." At the other's consent the dark-eyed butler bowed and quickly made his way to the kitchen.

Dark brows knitted together intricately, and delicate features scrunched up tightly, as the slender body on the bed rolled over in the darkened bedroom. Suddenly blue eyes shot open and widened, as the small body sat up immediately and shook with the force of the movement. The dark-haired boy gasped and scanned his bedroom until he heard it again. Frowning he cocked his head listening to the noise that seemed to come from only a few rooms down. It sounded like…crying?
Rubbing the sleep from his eyes the Japanese tossed the heavy comforter from his thin legs and lightly stepped off of his bed onto the hard wood floor. He shivered as the cold seeped into his heels and quickly hunched over, his arm under his bed searching for something. He smiled in satisfaction when his fingers came in contact with the soft material. Pulling out the small bunny slippers from beneath his bed, a small quirk of his lips was the only sign of the memory that flitted across his mind when the serious Chinese had brought the childish slippers home.
He curled his toes in pleasure as they warmed his feet and gently slid across the floor to his door, the crying was sporadic and had stopped, so he opened his door and peeked out silently, listening. He blinked when the wails started up again, but then frowned as he heard laughter and music coming from downstairs. He laid a hand against the wall beside him, ignoring the noise from downstairs, and gradually made his way down the hallway listening as the whimpers and sobs grew louder. He took a deep breath as he finally came upon a door and grabbed the handle twisting it.
The crying was pulling at his heartstrings and for some reason he felt like he would do anything to ease this person's tears. Whoever it was, had to be young he thought as he pushed the door open slowly to look into the dimly lit room. An open suitcase was on the floor next to the bed where a young boy sat rubbing at his eyes and sniffling. A worried expression covered dark blue eyes as the small Japanese stepped forward slowly not wanting to frighten the child anymore then he already was.
"Hello?" he asked softly causing the small boy to hiccup and look up quickly. He gasped when his eyes met teary violet, and the small child on the bed sobbed out a frightened, `mommy!' and slid off of the bed running over to cling to the young man's legs. (2) Heero gulped and swayed slightly with the force of the other grabbing onto him. He looked down on the dark mop of messy hair and smiled bending forward to lift the child up and hug him to his chest, "What's wrong, Anata?" He asked, hugging the boy gently in a protective hug.
The child sniffled and nuzzled into his mother's chest, then frowned, all the times she'd carried him he'd always rested his head on her full, soft, bosom. Now, however, his mother's chest was hard and flat, but he didn't care, all he cared about was that she was holding him. Breathing in her light scent he smiled, and nuzzled her softly.
Heero quietly cooed the small child, rocking him in his arms and humming softly as he made his way back over to the bed. Sitting down on the bed he rocked back and forth, rubbing the small child's back until he'd calmed down. Once the crying and sniffling had stopped, Heero whispered into the small child's ear softly, "Ne, What's wrong little one? Why were you crying?"
The little boy leaned back slightly to look up into concerned sapphire blue eyes, he blinked, "You're not my mommy…" he said but merely smiled up at the brunette brightly. "My name's Camwon-and…I was cwying cause I can't find my daddy." The little boy's face lost a little of its glow when he mentioned his father, and his lower lip puckered slightly as if he wanted to cry again.
Not wanting the child to start crying again, the blue-eyed man quickly spoke up, "My name's Heero. I'm sure your daddy is downstairs and will come up in a little while. Don't worry, I'll stay with you until he comes back ok, Cammy-chan?" The small boy beamed up at him and nodded, leaning forward to hug the dark-haired boy tightly.
"Are you my Garden Angul, Heewo?" The small boy asked, his large violets blinking up owlishly into surprised cobalt blue.
Heero smiled at the little boy in his arms, his full cheeks, bright eyes, and contagious grin reminded him so much of the braided boy he'd fought beside in the war. `This has to be Duo's son.' He thought to himself then nodded down on the awaiting boy, "Mmhmm, but you can call me Tenshi, ok?"
The little boy's happy grin only widened, "Ten-shi?" he asked, struggling to pronounce the foreign word. At the blue-eyed man's nod he blinked, "What's uh tenshi?" he asked, looking up at the other.
Heero smiled, "It's how you say angel where I'm from…" he said, still slightly rocking the child back and forth, attempting to lull him asleep.
"Where you come from?" the violet-eyed boy asked, his eyelids starting to droop, "You mean heaven?" Suddenly the rocking stopped in mid-motion, and the other's eyelids drifted shut as the Japanese man sat on the bed staring at nothing across the room.
"I'm not from heaven…" he whispered, but the small boy within his arms was already asleep and the soft sound of his breathing was his only reply. Smiling down on the cherubic features, Heero placed a soft kiss on the tiny forehead and laid the young boy back down on the bed, pulling his blanket up around him, and placing a soft bear he found on the bed next to him. He sat next to the dark headed child for a little while, simply rubbing his back gently, until his own worry found him and he realized the boy's father could walk in at any moment.
Placing another chaste kiss on the boy's chubby cheeks he smiled, and quietly stood from the bed, walking out of the room silently. When he closed the door, a small part of his heart felt incomplete, and he frowned wondering how this small boy could have such an effect on him. The frown was quickly changed, however, and he smiled contently as he walked back into his bedroom and pulled himself under the sheets, curling into himself and mumbling the little boy's name.

At the foot of the stairs the small group of adults, were full and happy. They'd eaten a good meal and had talked, catching up on old conversations. Duo grinned, placing his hands behind his head and stretching, "Guess I'd better head up to bed," he said and nodded to everyone, "Good night," he said turning away from the others who had agreed to stay up for a little while longer and talk.
Duo sluggishly made his way up the long flight of stairs and down the hallway until he finally made it to his room, where he quietly tip-toed in so as not to wake his baby. He smiled when he noticed the little boy curled up against his favorite bear, fast asleep. "It's been a long day, huh Cam?" he whispered and ruffled the thick hair on the boy's head before turning to change. Pulling his clothes off, he slipped on a loose pair of sweat pants and slid under the covers, pulling his baby close in to him and breathing in deeply.
His slim brows knit together when the faint scent of tea and blossoms reached his nose. Only one person he'd ever known carried such a unique and pleasant scent, but he dismissed the thought and merely snuggled in closer to his son quickly falling asleep as the day's events caught up with his body.
+++
"How is he?" worried aqua eyes shone from beneath a fringe of light bangs, as Quatre squeezed the comforting hand of his lover. He'd spent all of dinner wondering about the blue-eyed boy who he knew was up stairs, and he wanted to know when he would see his beautiful but deadly companion again.
Wufei sighed, and rubbed the bridge of his nose, while his wife rubbed his back understandingly, "We weren't expecting Duo to be here. Now that's not to say we don't want him and he's not welcome. I'm just saying it's going to make it extremely difficult for Heero to open up with the man he loves in his face all the time." He looked back at his wife and smiled appreciatively, leaning back to place an arm around her shoulders.
Light brows shot down, as the Arabian man leaned back into his lover's hold as well, "None of us were expecting Hilde and Duo's relationship to crumble so suddenly, and as much as Heero's hurting, Duo's got to be feeling some kind of loss as well. I mean he's been with that woman for almost five years now right? That's got to be difficult."
Trowa nodded his green eyes full of understanding, "What are we going to do? I doubt letting Duo and Heero talk is going to help Heero's condition…he's not ready for that yet." The other's all nodded as the banged man brought up a good point.
Sally sighed and leaned against her husband, her back was starting to hurt and she was beginning to develop a slight headache. "Since Heero and Wufei have been working together over the years I've gotten to know him very well, and especially in this last week alone. He's become like my younger brother. He's told me a lot of things about Duo and himself." She paused, thinking how to word what she was about to say. "I know that he still has feelings for Duo, and seeing him now would only hurt and confuse him, but…"
She swallowed, the pulsing in the back of her head pounding painfully, "Does Duo know he's here?" she asked quickly swerving to a new subject. Dark eyes blinked, as Wufei caught the sudden change and wondered what his wife could have possibly had in mind.
Quatre looked to his green-eyed lover who merely nodded to the blonde woman across from them. He turned back to look into her light blue eyes and nodded, "We told him on the plane." He suspected something was up and we couldn't lie to him." Sally only nodded, but didn't say anything.
Wufei sighed, he'd had enough of this gentle dancing around the subject, "We all know Heero and Duo had an…arrangement during the war. I don't think either of them are ready to talk about it yet, so in the mean time we should agree to keep Hero away from Duo for as long as possible." Over the years he'd also grown close to the quiet Japanese and felt the need to protect him since he'd seen first hand just how drastic of an effect the taller American had, had on the preventer.
Trowa frowned momentarily, "Isn't that only delaying the inevitable?" His question was valid, and as much as he wanted to protect his friends he couldn't allow them to run from their problems. The petite blonde within his arms sighed and looked down at his feet, he had thought the same thing but wanted his friend's comfort to come first. They would comfortable talking when they were ready.
Squeezing the hand within her grasp, Sally pushed up and stood from the couch in an awkward motion, "Heero doesn't feel well as it is. He'll remain in his room for as long as he likes. I've kept him in bed for quite sometime and I think he should leave for some fresh air. I arranged for him to have a few therapy sessions…with his consent of course."
Pale brows rose and disappeared behind jagged blonde bangs, "He's agreed to therapy?" the light-haired ex-pilot asked in a shocked tone. The other blonde merely nodded as her husband stood up behind her.
"He's not going until sometime next week however, because he's still very weak and refuses to eat most days." When she finished speaking she smiled, "Listen to us, we're talking about them as if they were children who can't handle their own lives." When Quatre opened his mouth to speak, she closed her eyes and continued, "I think we should allow them to handle this. They know what's best and if they don't clear it up soon…then we can intervene."
Closing his mouth, and swallowing his own argument, the blonde Arabian thought over the pale woman's words and nodded smiling up to her. "We can't do this for them. I have faith in them, and that things will turn out for the best." He stood up, his quiet lover behind him, "I think it's time we went to bed…Duo said he wanted to show Cameron around Earth so he was going to take him to a park tomorrow. We can talk with Heero while he's out."
Sally nodded and smiled, "Goodnight then. I'm off to bed. Wufei will show you to your rooms. I apologize but I have a horrible headache." She stepped forward slightly and hugged both of the men in one tight hold, then turned away slowly making her way to her room.
Once his wife had disappeared down the hallway and he heard the quiet click of their bedroom door, the Chinese man nodded to his comrades, "Your rooms are upstairs," he said and turned slowly making his way upstairs, the two weary lovers in tow.
