Heero closed his eyes as he picked up the phone. As he dialed the number, he tried to remember everything Duo had told him. "Hello?" Heero's mind drew a blank when she answered the phone."Hello?" he could hear slight annoyance in her voice as she repeated the greeting."H..Holly?" he managed. 'Smooth Heero... real smooth.' he chided himself."This is she. Who's speaking?" Finally, he gathered his thoughts, and actually started talking. As soon as she realized who it was, her voice brightened, He could tell she was smiling as she spoke. They talked for a little while, which seemed to come easy to Holly though it was a constant struggle for Heero. "So did you want something in particular or did you just call to chat?" she asked finally. 'Ask her out for coffee or to a movie or something,' he heard Duo's voice in his head from their earlier 'lesson'"I just wanted to know if you wanted to go do something sometime.. Like, umm, maybe go to a movie or something..." he trailed off, nervous for the first time he could remember."Sure! When do you wanna go?" she asked excitedly.'Wow. That was easy,' Heero thought to himself. "Umm, how about this Saturday?""Works for me. I'll see you then. I really have to get ready for work though now. You should come in and see me," Holly's voice was completely ecstatic. "If I have time," he answered warily."Alright. Talk to you later then," with that she hung up the phone.Heero breathed a sigh of relief. "So how did it go?" Duo asked as he stepped into their bedroom. "She talks as much or more than you," Heero grumbled. He was sort of smiling though."I bet you just like her because she reminds you of me," Duo winked at him."Seriously though, how did it go?""We are going to a movie this Saturday,""Told you it wasn't that hard," Duo smirked at Heero, but there was something else there too. Whatever else there was quickly disappeared and Heero brushed it aside. "Hn," was the only response Duo got and he turned back to his own room.********************************************************************** ***********************************Heero pulled up in front of Holly's house. He quickly made his way up to the door and rang the bell. Almost immediately, he was faced with a grinning brunette staring up at him. Before he could react, her arm was linked in his and they were heading back to his car."Good evening," he managed, trying his best to smile a little. "Indeed it is," she grinned. Heero decided, at Duo's suggestion, that he should take her to dinner first. "Where would you like to go for dinner?" he asked."Anywhere you want, as long as it isn't my restaurant," she quipped, still smiling happily. Heero nodded and they headed for a small diner. Conversation during dinner was a bit awkward at best, though Heero honestly tried to talk to the girl. She was quite the chatterbox, for which he was thankful. He simply sat and listened most of the time, contributing only when he deemed it absolutely neccessary. "You're awfully quiet," Holly noted. Heero simply nodded and she laughed."At least you won't interrupt the movie with constant talking then."Dinner was mostly uneventful and Heero remained mostly silent through both that and the drive to the theater. They picked out a romantic comedy that Holly seemed to enjoy though Heero mostlyu suffered through it. As the movie wore on, he let his mind wander. In the dark, he almost swore the it was Duo who sat beside him instead of Holly. They had similar facial structures and the same long flowing hair. He wondered how it felt beneath one's finger tips, the long silky strands of that gorgeous braid...Heero shook his head. why had he thought of that? Why was he thinking about Duo at all? As he considered this, the lights brightened and the credits rolled. A hand grabbed his and he was pulled gently to his feet. The ride back to Holly's home was nearly silent except for the radio. When they reached her house, Heero did his best to be a gentleman. He opened the door and even walked her to her door."I had a great time tonight," she said breathily. A soft smile brushed across her lips."We'll have to go out again sometime.""That we will," Holly looked at him expectantly and he racked his brain, searching what he remembered of Duo's instruction as to what she could be waiting for. Finally, she seemed to give up."Goodnight Heero," she bid him farewell and left him on the porch, still wondering what she had wanted.
