"B.R."-Chapter 5: The Dream, The Truth, and The Question of Closeness

She was running again, where to, she did not know, and she was beginning to think she did not want to find out.
She was in a park; she could see that. She also could see a form in the distance. It was a male form. Tall, sleek, and handsome, as far as she could tell, with his long blond hair shining in the street light, and his face shadowed over by the tree he was standing under.
She was almost there, maybe about six feet away or so, and closing. As she drew in closer, the form turned towards her, head still bowed and shadowed. Now just in front of him, his head looked up, but his eyes were closed.
"Who are you?" Just then his eyes shot open, and stared into her. She couldn't stop her intake of breath as she stared back into the bright aquamarine blue eyes, so much like her own, yet so different. She herself couldn't stop the word that came out of her mouth next… nor could she understand it.
"Milliardo?"
The man opened his mouth, and said "Ding, Ding, Ding"

Relena had to try real hard not to let her head shoot up; but to have it rise slowly. 'What the hell was all that about?' She rose out of her seat and headed to the door, 'What class am I in again?' The question was easily answered for her, as she saw Quatre, Cathy, and Urden at the door waiting for her. 'The question should have been, 'What study am I in?''
"Hey, 'Lena, tired today?"
"Actually Quatre, I don't think I was. Maybe I was just bored" Relena looked to Urden, "I wasn't asleep for long was I?"
Urden shook his head, as Cathy answered, "No, just the last 10 minutes of class." Relena nodded her head to Cathy, and they headed out to their lockers.

'Oh come on Trowa! Hurry up, I don't need any confrontations with your girlfriend. Get your ass down here before she does!' Relena thought as she moved over the two lockers from her own to Trowa's. She leaned back against his locker as she waited.
A few moments later she heard the high pitched, unmistakable voice of the one and only Sylvia Noventa. Relena cringed both inwardly and outwardly. 'I think I'll just sink my self in here' In between Trowa's locker, and a locker to the left of his was a small opening that separated the two strings of lockers. It wasn't big, but it was big enough for her to slip in if she pushed her shoulders forward. She sank back and flattened her body against the wall. She knew Sylvia wouldn't pass her, because her locker was half a hall away from her own, yet close enough for Relena to be in sight and ear shot of her, and Relena knew damned well that if Sylvia saw her by Trowa's locker, she would take it upon herself to tell Melissa. Now, letting Melissa know that she hangs out with her boyfriend didn't bother her in the least, it was the fact that Sylvia like to exaggerate and/or make up stories about what she saw. Now that never seemed to go over well.
Relena suddenly kept completely silent as she heard a few names and words that caught her attention. She also heard a new voice.
"Ha ha, you should have seen them in the hall way! You'd think she'd be afraid of getting caught! If I had a boyfriend that loyal I would never do that to him, I'd be having too much fun! I really do admire her at times" 'Who is she talking about, she seems like she's gonna swoon over them!' The response to Sylvia's rambling voice was slurred by the newest contributor's question.
"And who is it you admire? And what type of fun do you speak of eh?" The newest voice seemed to already know the answer, as if the question asked was rhetorical. The only thing that bothered Relena was, 'Oh no, that voice was…'
"Why, Melissa! We were just talking about you. I happened to see you right before third period…"
"Yep, that's what I thought you were referring to. Well, we ought to talk about this somewhere else, I wouldn't want Trowa walking by"
"Oh, yeah sure, lets go to the Turners' lockers? Oh, by the way, thanks for giving me the tip off about you know who and hooking us up that day."
"Yeah, no prob, and I can't wait till she finds out! You'll have to tell me what happened before wrestling. I'm meeting Trowa there anyway cause he's…" Melissa's voice began to fade as she got farther away. 'This is not good' Relena responded to the awkward feeling in her gut.
She squirmed out of her hiding place to see Trowa just about to come through the doors a few lockers away from her, and from the opposite direction that Melissa and co. left in.
"Hey 'Lena."
"Heya Trowa" Both exchanged the traditional hug/greeting. 'Mmm, always has great hugs' "Have to put anything in your locker?"
"Yeah, a book and a note for Melissa. I over heard something about some sort of occurrence before third period about her and a guy, and I didn't see her before third period, so it wasn't me. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something" Just then he noticed how much Relena seemed to tense, and he narrowed his eyes slightly, "Alright, what do you know?"
"Uh, nothing" Another glare from Trowa and she restated her thought, "Nothing I can say here, I'll tell you at your house later okay?"
Trowa nodded and they continued their way out of the school.

As the walked, they would stop every few seconds and conceal themselves. You'd think this would make their journey to the park a bit lengthier. Apparently that didn't bother them. At the moment they were to the side of a big white house, with a real-estate sign in the front, with a 'sold' sign on it. Both failed to notice it, and the color, and the faintly could tell their location. He had her against the house, hand underneath her short skirt, rested right below her hip, the other hand holding them up as he kissed and nibbled on her neck. 'Just the way she likes it' But this wasn't her, 'but apparently it works just the same' he judged by her reaction…
"Oh Duo!"
<~:*:~>
"So Trowa, are we gonna stop by your house first, or just go straight to wrestling?"
"Um, I'm not sure…actually, yeah, I need to get better suited clothes and then some information out of you"
Relena just smiled and said "Alrighty, lead the way"
<~:*:~>About 15minutes later<~:*:~>
"Alright, so what's going on, that I've obviously been left out of?" Trowa stopped and turned to face Relena. Relena stopped a few feet ahead of him and hung her head. She hated to always be the bearer of bad news with him, yet she always seemed to be the one who found out either first, or would be one of the few who would actually let him know what was going on.
"Are you so sure you want to know, Trowa?" Relena looked up and into his visible eye. Trowa would swear she could see both of his eyes; so well that she could see through them, and into his mind. Truthfully no, he didn't want to know. He liked to think that nothing was going to happen between himself and Melissa, but he also knew that, that sort of blissful ignorance would pain him much more in the end, and it would not be worth it. He nodded,
"Yes, I need to know"
Relena shook her head and began explaining, "Well, in our third period class Melissa was looking for attention as usual-" Relena stopped for a second, and saw the slight shift in Trowa's facial features, "Sorry, force of habit. Anyway… she had written a note to Heero in class, and he told me what it said. She had asked if he had seen anything before that class. After he asked what happened, she said that she was giving someone a kiss before going to classes, and when Heero asked if it was you, he answer wasn't very convincing," She then handed him the actual note.
Relena stopped to see Trowa's expression now. It was stoic. There was nothing there. She knew he was trying to hide pain; he always got that expression when he was hiding something. She decided to get this over worth. By now they had begun walking, and she looked ahead of her as she finished off the story, "When I was waiting for you, Melissa and Sylvia were talking in the halls. Sylvia talked of Melissa's action before third period. How she admired how Melissa could treat you the way she does, and shamelessly do something, my guess would be kissing, behind your back. She said she admired her for it. When Mel came in she said she'd tell the others about it somewhere else, so they wouldn't have to worry about you walking by"
Relena stopped again, and grabbed Trowa's hand to stop him as well. "Are you okay?"
Trowa nodded, and they continued walking in silence, not noticing that their hands were still locked, that is, till they got to Trowa's door, and he lifted that hand to grab the mail. Relena looked up to him to see his reaction to the touch, but she didn't see anything. He lifted her hand to his lips, but didn't kiss, just kept it there.
Finally he put her hand down, grabbed the mail, and pushed the door open, extending his arm, gesturing her to enter first. She ascended the stairs, and turned the corner to his rather small room. She could hear his footsteps behind her as she did as she would normally; sat on his bed and got comfortable, as if it was her own room. She was surprised however, that he had shut his door when they entered. That never really happened.
Trowa walked up next to his bed and looked down at the younger female laying there, looking up at him. She had secret eyes to him… she held a past no one knew of… well, not many anyway…and even though they were secret, they still managed to somehow glow honesty. Honesty. When did people loose that? Why did she still have it? Why was she the only honest one around anymore? Melissa used to be honest… or at least he thought so… oh hell… when did emotions begin to become so confusing?
Finally Trowa lay down next to her. He was taken aback by the fact that she turned towards him and laid on his chest. What was worse, though, was the fact that he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close into an embrace. Now, the question was, did he have to say what was in his head, or did she already know? Some how she has always managed to make it seem like she knew him better the he himself did. He decided to talk anyway.
"How come you're the only one that ever tells me the things I need to know…and every one else just babbles endlessly about things I don't care about or need to know?" He felt her shrug in his arms. He wondered briefly if she was even comfortable. He brushed it off and continued, "Lena, what should I do?"
She pulled herself gently away from him, and his wonderful scent, and looked back into his eyes, "Trowa, I'm in your life, but I'm not you. You're one of the closest to me. Duo included; you are closer to me than him, and you know it. I'm glad that you trust me, but I can't tell you what to do. If you would like a suggestion, you know what I would say, as well as Catherine, Heero, and anyone else with eyes that really see" Trowa looked down and nodded with eyes closed.
"Tell me this suggestion. Maybe actually hearing it will make it sink in" Relena's eyes seemed to freeze, and she briefly wondered why he was doing this to her.
"You ought to leave her, as in become single, or maybe just take a break. Something like a new perspective. But she practically poisons your mind. Hell, you mines well be Gollum, and she the one Ring." She stopped her beginnings of a rant and blushed. "Sorry"
He just looked at her for a moment, then shook his head, "I know you are right Lena, but do I want to acknowledge it? The answer always seems to be 'No'." Relena nodded her understanding and they embraced once more.
She looked up to him in their hug, but she had to keep herself from moving nervously. They both had another partner, yet they were holding each other on a bed, as much as she didn't want to move, this wasn't right as far as she knew, even though they weren't cheating or anything. 'Nope, that's it; it's decided.' Gently she pulled herself back and away again. She sat up and climbed off his bed.
"You needed to change right? I'll go wait in the living room" Trowa gave her some sort of look. She supposed it was questioning. He gently pulled her hand back so that she was again sitting on the bed.
"No, you can stay in here, I'll be right back" Trowa got up, and grabbed some clothes sitting on his desk, and then left the room.
As the door thudded shut, Relena let a long held breath ease out of her. She really should stop letting him get so close her when he decides to. 'Of course, I am making him seem like the bad guy… we were closer than this at one time… so I understand this shouldn't seem like such a treason…Treason 'Lena? Now what are you doing, betraying a county?' Relena laughed herself out of her thoughts.
Trowa came in just then asking, "What's so funny?" as he was finishing putting his belt on. Relena didn't fail to notice his button down shirt was open, revealing his blank tank undershirt. She'd be lying if she said didn't like how it showed his toned shoulders and upper arms.
She stopped her mental appreciation of his body and answered his question. "Nothing, I was just over-thinking to myself again."
Trowa looked up to her, "Mmm, right."
"So shall we go?" He nodded, and she made her way towards the door, "You have the music?"
"Eddy's bringing it" Relena replied with an "oh" as she put her hand to the doorknob. Just as she was about to turn it his hand stopped her.
'Why must I always act so intimate with her? I have Melissa…Sort of. I could of just put my hand on her shoulder, rather that hold her hand again' In any case he turned her around, and gave her a quick hug, or it was supposed to be quick, but ended up lasting. 'AGAIN with the intimacy. Why do…Ah hell… no need to ask a rhetorical question. It's because of Yuy's advice' He wonders if he really should have taken it to heart like he did. Look where it put him now…
( ( ( ( ( Flashback ) ) ) ) )
Heero and Trowa were walking through the park again. The stopped in front of a bench and sat down. Heero was the first to speak.
"Alright, out with it. What's going on?"
Trowa sighed and looked at the other, "It's Melissa…" He knew he didn't have to say anything else. Heero just looked at him with the 'Of course it is her that cause you this distress' type of face. Trowa briefly wondered why he bothered asking.
"So what is it… what happened?"
"I guess you could say the usual. I've been hearing things again. But that shouldn't matter. We aren't together any more… but last night she asked if we could become a couple once more. I of course want to, there is no hiding that, but I do not want to get hurt again. I wonder if I should just say no, and see what else I find; see if I get over her-" Trowa was cut off, his rather long ramblings, by Heero's next comment…
"But you don't really want to," He finished for his friend.
Trowa nodded, and looked to the sky. He noted the moon was full tonight.
"May I give you some advice?" Heero looked to him and asked. Trowa nodded again and looked towards him. "A wise man gave me this advice… maybe it'll give you good results. 'One should always follow their emotions'"
Trowa took this into consideration, and came up with one question, "Did you get good results from this advice?"
Heero just closed his eyes, and looked towards the sky, "No… I haven't decided follow it yet…" Trowa lifted an eyebrow, but said nothing, as he to looked to the sky for answers…
( ( ( ( ( Flashback ) ) ) ) )
Trowa let go the fast coming memories of where that advice (from a year ago no less) got him. He looked down to the girl in his arms…
"Thank you Lena" He said, looking her straight in the eyes.
She just nodded slightly, and pulled away. Opening the door, she gave a quick, "Let's get going", and off they went.

AN: Heya all! Well, I have decided to do some widening of views. I have more than just one pairing in mind here. Some characters will be paired with more than one person as well. I know a couple of final pairings already, though I'm having trouble with one. I suppose we will see what happens. Also, if things got a little sappy here... well… we all have our days. I hope you enjoyed this (very late) chapter. Anyway, thanks to: Ley, Silver Wing, Lynderia, Death Angel, Lady Dragon Heart, EvaBaby. Kiyakakia, Sunmisstress, ~*Serene*~, Sunnyfunny, and JEFF!
I must give a special thanks to my friend Mike, for encouraging me to continue this, or rather make me make time out of the little bit of time I have had to continue this.
