Christmas Gifts Chapter 1: Trowa's Gift

“Hey Duo! Have you heard of this new pet shop over there where that old bookstore used to be,” Hilde asked anxiously. It was eight days before the big day, and everyone seemed to still be shopping. Having done her shopping all ready though, the blue-haired girl was helping her friend find something for his younger sibling.
“Uh…yeah. Don't they say the owner of that place is crazy? He does experiments and all that crap,” the braded boy questioned. Even though he had a full month and a half to buy a gift, he had no idea what to get for his brother Trowa.
“You know those are just rumors. Besides, didn't you say your brother is lonely, but doesn't socialize? He also works at the zoo right? Maybe getting him a pet would make him happy,” Hilde reasoned. Seeing as she had a point, Duo allowed her to drag him to the pet store.
Looking about, they found everything to be normal, with there being kittens, puppies, little bunnies, hamsters, snakes, turtles, spiders, fish, birds, and other animals that were good pets. Still, none of them seemed to catch Duo's eye.
“Welcome to my pet shop. I am Trieze. May I be of any service,” a tall handsome man stated, coming out from behind a curtain. The braded boy was a bit surprised, especially since the man was just in a robe, but shook it off, and tried to ignore. This left Hilde to say, “We're fine, just looking around."
"Ah I see. Well, if there is anything that catches your interest please tell me." With that, the man disappeared behind the curtain again. Looking a bit more, the braded boy found himself staring at the kittens a whole lot. /Maybe I should get a cat for him, / he then thought, but the ones he was seeing didn't seem like they'd be enough.
"Interested in buying a cat? I have more than just these kittens," the same man from before stated, this time dressed. Behind him a shorter Asian boy walked out, and went to sit at the cash register. He was fully dressed as well, though he wore a large coat and a large hat.
"Yes, actually. May I see these other cats," Duo asked, politely.
"I don't exactly have them here with me. You see, I'm a scientist, as well as the owner of this pet shop, and if you haven't heard, I've done some experiments. Now before you get upset, I all ready have government permission to do this, as well as to distribute these animals I have created."
"I see, uh...what exactly did you create," the braded boy asked, as his friend Hilde stood behind him surprised.
"I've created, a special kind of cat. One that does more than the average cat, though I haven't sold it to anyone as of yet. It's not dangerous though, for I have one of my own, and it's a great companion. You see, I made it to where it has an imprinting system, and so the first person it sees, it automatically assumes is it's master, and will remain loyal to that person."
"That's nice to know, but seeing as it's a mutated species of cat, I'm sure I have to fill out an application before buying it, right? So the government knows who has one," Duo replied, knowing how to handle business.
"Yes, of course. Are you interested in purchasing one? If not, I understand, and I will not pressure you further on it," Trieze stated calmly. The whole time he was talking, the boy at the counter simply sat, keeping a serene look on his face.
"Well, you see, I'm buying something for my brother, and I'm not too sure if I should give him a mutated cat," the braded boy replied.
"They're not mutated, just improved, and Trieze can even design one specifically made to fit your brother's personality," the Asian boy suddenly stated. Finally paying attention to this boy, Duo began to notice how something on his head was missing. /Where are his ears? /
"Thank you, Wufei, for that explanation. Now what he said is true, and I assure you, that these cats will cause no harm. If they do hurt him, then you have all right to sue me," the golden-haired man said.
"Duo, maybe you should, I mean, if the pet turns out to be a bust you can sue," Hilde whispered into his ear, and caused him to consider this more. /Trieze says he has one himself, and it's worked out great for him. Could it hurt to buy Trowa one? /
"All right, where's the application," the braded boy finally asked, after thinking it over for a few more moments. Smiling, the owner of the shop quickly had Wufei bring him said application, and then handed it over to Duo.
The document itself had the basic requirements most had, with it asking for a birthday, name, address, phone number, and e-mail address. The only odd things on there were blood type, and personality. Yet as he filled it out, Trieze asked, "Does your brother currently have a girlfriend, or boyfriend?"
"Huh? No, he's single, and I'm not about to tell you his sexuality thank you," Duo stated, thinking that question was frankly out of the blue.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to offend, I was just wondering. Um...do you know of what type of hair color, he likes on someone? Or eye color," he asked again.
"Why are you asking me this?" Before Trieze could give an excuse, Wufei replied, "He just wanted to know so he could give the cat those colors. He can genetically create it to look and be like the ideal person your brother would like as a...companion."
"Oh, well that's kind of odd..." the braded boy responded, a little suspicious.
"His brother has a thing for blondes, and it doesn't really matter what sex the cat is," Hilde then stated, receiving a slight stare of shock from Duo.
"Okay, I'm done with the application. Now would you like the money in cash or check," the violet-eyed boy then said, handing over the document to Trieze.
"Either will be fine," the man answered, and put away the paper. Taking out his check book, the braded boy paid for the gift, and then asked, "How long will it take for you to create one for him? When should I come back to pick it up?"
"It shouldn't take too long, a minimal of three days. I can have it delivered to him if you'd like?" Nodding, Duo and Hilde then left to go eat after all was said and done.
"At last! I can take off this hat and coat! It's making me all sweaty," Wufei proclaimed, and removed both articles of clothing. Thus, revealing his cat-ears, and cat tail, which was inside the coat.
"Hm, didn't help that I had heated you up earlier now does it," Trieze said in a low voice, moving in closer to his pet. His voice had a immediate effect.
At the restaurant in which Hilde and Duo were eating at, both began to discuss the gifts they had bought. Actually, they were discoursing over the pet the braded boy purchased for his brother Trowa.
"You really think that was a good idea," the blue-haired girl asked, eating at her steak slowly.
"I'm not too sure, but Trowa works at the zoo, so he'll probably know how to handle it if it gets too rough. He works around dangerous animals all the time, and always comes back okay, so I'm pretty sure he can handle a simple little cat."
"What if this cat isn't so small, or simple?" Staring at his steak for a bit, Duo began to doubt the situation. /Maybe I should warn him about this thing. I don't want him to get hurt just because I got him something I thought would be good for him. /
If only he knew, for his brother had just gotten off of work, and was now headed towards that exact pet shop, that he was in before.

I wanted to rewrite this one, because I felt it was too quick and too short. I plan to have more happen in this story, and hopefully you guys enjoy it more so than the original. Well, I'm off to write the next chapter!
