I have to say one thing though; the blame for the actual idea for this fic lies with CHIBIMINA (my very own, one and only ne-chan luv ya girl ^_~)*grins* It all started when I was asked for advice on approaching a person you had feelings for by a young Japanese boy named Hiro. (Yes you heard it right his name is Hiro. Last name_not Yuy.) Chibimina was with me and she said you should start your own newspaper column and I said yeah Dear Cathy and all of a sudden the plot bunnies went totally spacco...and Dear Sally was born. So this fic was actually inspired by a real life situation. Sad to say Hiro didn't get his Koi this end.

Dear Sally: Epilogue.

~Two weeks later~

Duo still couldn't help feel a little guilty about the accident. Heero had been home for a couple of weeks now, but Duo hadn't pressed him about the issue of love making at all. He'd decided that if it was time that Heero wanted, then the boy could have all the time he needed.

Almost losing Heero had made him rethink his attitude and his way of approaching the matter of their physical relationship, and even though Heero had informed him that he would try if Duo still wanted it, Duo himself had now begun to question his own worthiness.

The violet-eyed boy had hovered around in the kitchen all day. He was determined to make everything up to Heero tonight. He'd had the opportunity to get out the ol' cookbook and attempt to, for once, cook something edible for his Koi. He wasn't the best of cooks and he knew it, but this time he felt he'd done it. The food smelt good and the table was set in the most romantic of ways.

Impatiently Duo glanced at the clock on the wall. Heero had been *Chang napped* for the day. Sally had just found out that she and WuFei were expecting their first child, so Heero had been commandeered for nursery painting duty. That had given disaster boy time to arrange everything. His thoughts wandered back to the day Heero had been released from the hospital.

*Flashback*

"If you want to make an impression on him, show him you love him with_out the physical side of things, be romantic, use your imagination." Sally said as they waited outside Heero's hospital room for the boy to emerge. "Cook him a candlelight dinner and if you're really serious about him let him know some other way."

"Yeah. You know, you're right Sally. I do love him enough to do that and I want to let him know that if he's uncomfortable with the love making side, well, that's ok by me and he can have all the time he needs. I was scared the past couple of weeks." he sighed remorsefully. "It's so true what they say, that you don't realize what you have until it's gone and I swear, even though he was hanging in there I felt a loss so deep that it was cutting me up inside."

"You obviously love him more than even you realized. Just be patient with him, he'll come around eventually Duo. You'll see."

*End flashback*

Duo grinned as he turned out every light in the house except for the kitchen. He placed the candelabra into the middle of the table, a vase with flowers sat next to it and the lace tablecloth he'd borrowed from Hilde and Relena fit perfectly over their table.

He listened as he heard the familiar putt putting of a car pull into the driveway and a large smile broke across his face as he quickly turned out the kitchen light too. Koi was home and it was time to set the scene in motion.

Silently he waited.

Heero looked a little disappointed. It looked like there was nobody home, every single light in the house was off and that usually meant that Duo wasn't home. He sighed as he locked up his car and headed towards the door. It was unlocked. With a puzzled glare and a cautious frame of mind, Heero prepared himself to enter the darkened house.

Slowly he opened the front door and entered. Something wasn't right here, Duo would never leave the door unlocked like that. He wasn't that careless. Destructive, maybe, but_never this careless. Heero quietly shut the door behind him and sensed his way through the house. It wouldn't be smart to turn any lights on. It would be better to maneuver in the dark. If you couldn't see the enemy, then the enemy couldn't see you and that was a good thing as long as you kept your wits about you and had almost perfect hearing.

Heero listened. He could hear something coming from the kitchen. Cautiously he approached the offender and then as he felt a movement near him he pounced, grabbing the offenders arm and twisting it behind his back with one hand and head locking him with his free arm.

"AAAAAAAHHHHH." the Shinigami yelled as he was forced to the ground. "Heero! Lemme go you idiot. It's me."

Heero jumped back in shock and stood upright. "D, Duo, I'm so sorry! I thought that, well it was just you, and the front door, and the lights were out, and I thought that..."

Duo pulled himself up from the floor and switched the lights on. "You big baka!" he said with a grin on his face. "Would an intruder do all this?" he pointed to the table.

Heero blushed madly and a sheepish, embarrassed look spread across his face as he focussed on the table in front of him. .'Shit Duo! I'm, I'm so sorry. I really thought you were a prowler. I mean... "

Duo grinned and pressed a finger to his Koi's lips. "It's ok Koi. I know you were worried about me, but any way." Duo continued unfazed by the past few minutes. "Surprise lover." The Shinigami smiled, pulling the boy into him for a soft and gentle kiss.

Heero pressed into him sighing softly, returning his lover's kiss.

Duo broke away and took hold of Heero's hand. "Sit down and I'll get dinner." he requested as he led Heero over to his seat and sat him down.

"You_cooked?" Heero asked sounding mildly worried.

"Yes I_cooked, but I promise you Heero." the boy said as reassuringly as he possibly could, "... that this time it_will taste good!"

Heero watched as Duo walked over to the stereo in the lounge turning on a CD. Soft slow music played and Heero found himself feeling a little more relaxed. Duo returned to the kitchen and proceeded to dish up the main course, then lit up the candles and turned the kitchen light out again. Finally the braided baka sat down and smiled at him." Go on Heero." he urged his Koi. "Try some. I promise, you'll like it!"

Heero saw the happy grin on the boy's face and he decided there and then that no matter how bad this tasted it would be the best thing he'd ever eaten, just because Duo had cooked it for him. It was obvious the silly baka had spent the entire day trying to get this right and that alone had touched his heart. That and the fact he'd almost broken his arm and choked the boy minutes earlier made him feel guilty and obligated, but he figured he'd survive Duo's cooking. It was nothing that a day in the bathroom wouldn't fix when tomorrow rolled around.

The things one does for love.

Heero took a deep breath as he picked up his knife and fork aiming for the chicken covered with white sauce. He slowly cut a small piece off and raised it to his mouth, a little hesitantly.

Duo watched in anticipation as Heero almost shoved it into his mouth and chewed.

Heero glanced over at Duo, a little surprised as he swallowed the piece of chicken, and for a moment Duo's face dropped.

"Duo... " Heero began.

Duo shrunk back in his seat. He was sure he'd done everything right. Positive he had!

"Duo this is," Heero said, cutting off another piece. "Damn delicious!"

"You don't have to pretend Heero. I'm sorry it's so awful. I really thought I'd gotten it right."

"No! Duo I meant it! This is great!" he said shoveling down some more, a slight grin on his face.

"Really?" Duoasked inquisitively

"Yes." Heero confirmed, smiling at him. "Really!"

Duo's face beamed brighter than the noonday sun itself and happily, he started on his own.

"So how was Sally doing?" he asked with a mouth full of food.

"Good. She and Wu Fei have so much to do I'm going to have to go over there again tomorrow. Don't think you could tag along could you? They could use the extra help."

"Well I have a confession to make." he said with a smirk. " Sally knew what I had planned for tonight so that's why she asked for just you today. But I'm helping out tomorrow anyway, so sure " he grinned cheekily.

"So that's why she insisted I take a change of clothes and shower there first before heading home... " he sighed with a slight chuckle.

"I'm sorry we had to con ya, but I wanted this to be special." Duo apologized sincerely.

Heero reached across the table and placed his hand over Duo's. "Anything we do is special if it's with each other Duo."

Duo blushed as Heero poured some wine into their glasses. "What kind of wine is this Duo?" Heero asked glancing at the label.

"It's Yellow Glen. "

"This is one your favorite wines isn't it?" he asked, remembering a conversation they'd had months ago after Duo had gotten drunk on the stuff at a party.

"You remembered!" Duo grinned happily as Heero finished pouring.

Heero had an embarrassed look on his face. "How could I forget you were so tipsy that you were flirting with me all night long and then you quite happily informed me...* One glass and I'm anybody's... *"

Duo laughed remembering back. "Oh shit yeah! God, your face as you ran, and I mean_ran, after Relena. I swear it was so bright red."

"I didn't run." Heero insisted. "I just... followed... very fast." he defended himself, blushing a little before adding, "...but I think that's when I actually realized I was in love with you."

Duo grinned at him. "I think I've been in love with you since... " he paused, trying to find the words. "...since forever!"

Heero almost choked on his wine and he felt his face turn a brighter shade of crimson red.

"Anyway!" the braided baka continued. "I have a couple of surprises for you." he said, clambering out of his seat. "Wait right here." he requested of his Koi as he headed into the laundry.

Heero had visions of Duo reappearing with *Dora* in yet another shade of purple. He'd taken to painting the damn door every other week. Last week it had been lilac and a couple of weeks before he'd painted her fuchsia Somehow that stupid door had become like part of the family and he found himself with a slight smile on his face as he went over the past few months in his mind. A damn Hee-bunny, a broken laundry door and coffee table and even broken hearts.

He whisked himself back from the past as Duo came back into the room holding a cane picnic basket and Heero gave him the oddest look.

"A picnic basket!?" the Prussian eyed boy exclaimed as Duo thrust it at him.

The smirk on Duo's face made him nervous about opening the heavy object in his arms and he just stared at it.

"Go on, open it Heero!" Duo pleaded.

Heero sighed and slowly placed the basket down on the floor at his feet and tentatively opened it up. He didn't really understand why but he suddenly started grinning from ear to ear as he leant over and pulled out a small brown and white fluffy ball of fur and held it up.

"Speechless I see." Duo cheekily baited the boy.

"I'll give you speechless Duo Maxwell. " Heero smirked. " I'm almost too scared to ask this, but does it have a name?"

Duo grinned from ear to ear. " I was so hoping you'd ask me that.

"I'm so hoping you don't answer!" the ex-01 pilot laughed.

"Too late Yuy. It's too late for you!" Duo snickered. "His name is...." he paused baiting Heero even more. "Du-bunny!"

"I was afraid you'd say that. " Heero laughed again.

Taking the bundle from Heero, Duo gently placed the bunny back into the basket. "You'd better go put him in with Hee-bunny then and we can go get him a collar tomorrow."

Heero shook his head and glanced up at the boy as he complied with his instructions, taking the basket and it's furry inhabitant into the laundry and then returning.

"While I'm thinking of it..." Heero yelled from the laundry. "…remind me to thank Quatre and Trowa for looking after Hee-bunny while we were at the hospital."

"Sure, just remind me to remind you ok." Duo smiled excitedly as Heero sat back down. There was he still one more thing he wanted to give Heero; and now was looking good.

"Um, Heero?" Duo began tentatively.

"Hn?" the Japanese boy replied.

Duo looked into the blue eyes in front of him. "I'm sorry for everything I've put you through with my selfishness and my lack of understanding. I still feel awful about everything that's happened and I just want you to know that I love you and I'm gonna wait until you're ready to move forward and I promise never to push you about it again."

Heero grabbed Duo by the wrist gently and looked into the soft violet eyes that were laden with guilt.

"Listen to me Duo. I'm_not going to say_this again. Nothing of this was your fault, nothing. So stop beating yourself up over it. It's over Duo all of it, and I personally want to move ahead with our relationship, not behind!" he gently scolded the former 02 pilot. "Maybe we've both been a little childish in how we handled the situation and it's just something that we have to learn from."

Duo agreed. "You're right Heero I guess we both needed a wake up call." he said walking closer to him. "But the one thing I know for sure is that I never want to come that close to losing someone that I care about again, especially when that some one is you!" he said, kneeling in front of the Japanese boy.

Heero watched the boy curiously as he got down on one knee and reached into his jacket pocket pulling out a small round box and swallowing nervously.

"Duo?" Heero asked curiously. "Are you alright? You seem to be working up a sweat there."

Duo looked up into the face of the man he had loved for so long and nodded. He hoped that he could pull this off without tripping over his tongue. "Heero Yuy. I have something I want to say to you."

Heero's eyes never left the braided baka's once as the other boy nervously continued. " I just want you to know that I love you, and that no matter what, I'll always be here for you, and from now on I'm gonna try harder to make sure that I can make you happy. I don't ever want to be without you again Heero, and I, I," he struggled to say the words. He was the god of death, Shinigami, and the great destroyer. He had been a Gundam pilot, a warrior, a fighter, yet these few little words he wanted to say were giving him the hardest time of his life. "Will you, I want you to…" Finally frustrated with the formality of it all he managed to spit it out. "Ahhhh stuff this for a freaking joke." he said, opening the box and revealing a gold band. "Just say yes would ya?"

Heero tried hard not to smirk but his face lit up and his eyes had already begun to laugh, then the rest of him followed and Duo sat back a little astonished, wondering what the hell had suddenly gotten into the other boy as Heero burst into laughter that could only be described as very un-Heero like.

"Wh, what's so funny?" Duo asked a little puzzled as Heero took the boy's free hand in his.

"Nothing." Heero grinned, as he got down to Duo's level and attempted to stifle his laughter as he pulled a small round box out of his jacket pocket and opened it, showing Duo. " But I'll say yes if you will."

Duo glanced from the ring box in his own hand to the ring box in Heero's. "Oh fuck!" The violet-eyed baka blushed as he felt a chuckle develop in his throat and then the two of them were laughing together. It was almost 10 minutes before they could calm down enough to talk again.

"Shit Heero!" Duo finally said once he'd caught his breath again. "I've never seen you like that before. I mean, you were laughing, really laughing."

Heero stood up from the floor and held his hand out to Duo. "You ever think that maybe I've finally found someone that can make me laugh like this Duo Maxwell?" Heero suggested as the boy was pulled up from the floor.

"Well I never thought of it that way." Duo blushed again. "I like seeing you this way. I love you anyway, but it was so good to see the one they once called the perfect soldier laugh so much and from the heart."

Heero leant forward and kissed his lover before taking him in a gentle embrace. "It must be the fact I have you in my life Duo Maxwell. You've drawn out something in me that I never thought would be even humanely possible."

"Geeze Heero, c'mon, cut it out." Duo turned away as his cheeks turned bright red.

"So?" Heero said with a grin. "Does that mean yes?"

Duo turned back to face him. "Hey wait a minute you con artist, who 's asking who here?" he said as Heero reached out and placed the ring on his finger. "And of course it's a yes. DUH!!"

"Same here Duo." Heero grinned as Duo placed his ring on Heero's finger and then pulled his Koi to him again, holding him close.

"So I guess that saves us the hassle of choosing me a ring then?" Duo grinned

"I guess it does Koi."

"C'mon Heero let's dance." Duo grinned dragging the blue-eyed boy into the lounge and shoving the couch right back out of the way.

He moved back over to Heero and held his arms out to him. Slowly Duo began to sway in time with the slow rhythm of the songs beat.

"Hey. Only one of us can lead Duo." Heero grinned as he almost fell over Duo's feet as he too tried to lead.

//There were times in my life when things seemed hard to bear

But since I met you they don't seem painful anymore

My life seemed so unfocussed, no control over things I did

Blindly living through my life every single day //

"Well be my guest." Duo smiled back as he tightened his grip on the Japanese boy as they slowly moved around the room together

"It's fine Duo. Please, by all means, I'd like you to lead."

"Well sure Koi if you insist." Duo said as he changed his direction.

A friend who's always there when I need some one

You take away my pain and comfort me//

It took only a moment for Duo to get into the rhythm and lead: It was fine by him either way but at least now he could savor the moment as he slowly moved his arms from around Heero's waist and dropped his hands onto the boy's backside.

Heero grinned, leant his head into the crook of Duo's neck and gave a contented sigh. His hands remained just above Duo's backside as they listened to the music play on.

But you give me the strength to overcome it all

Even when we're miles apart from each other

You take my hand in yours and let me know you're there//

Slowly Duo's hands strategically groped Heero's backside and the boy groaned a little. It had been a while since they'd even touched each other like this

Heero nuzzled Duo's neck, slowly kissing the boy higher up the column of his neck, teasingly over the contour of his chin, making his way over the boy's cheeks and Duo lowered his face a little so that Heero had easy access his awaiting lips

//You are my best friend the closeness we share is pure

Our lives have chosen a path and I'm never gonna look back//

Duo pulled the Japanese boy's groin into his own. The heat started to come off their bodies as they danced dangerously on the edge of their rising emotions.

//Because you are my true friend

And I'll never stop caring about you

If ever you need me

I'll always be right here for you//

The CD finished butthey continued the motions and the caressing and Duo found himself undoing the other boy's shirt buttons, their kisses became more impassioned and Heero had to pull himself away.

"Wait! Duo, stop." he said as they both panted a little from the intensity that they both had started to become entwined in.

"Shit.." Duo spat softly. "I'm sorry Heero I didn't mean to..."

"Shh…" Heero placed a fingertip over Duo's lips gently. "I have a surprise for you myself." the chocolate haired boy said, removing his finger and softly biting down on Duo's bottom lip seductively. "Just wait here for a minute Koi." he said, leaving Duo to watch him disappear back into the kitchen and then return with an over sized tea towel.

Duo gave him a suspicious glare. "*What* are you going to do with that?" the wary ex 02 pilot asked.

Heero smiled and walked around behind the boy. "Sore wa himitsu desu." he chuckled in Japanese as he quickly tied it around the boy's head making sure he had it covering his eyes.

"Hey don't be giving me that, *It's a secret shit* Yuy. I know that one off by heart. I mean everyone's seen Slayers ya know!" he informed his Koi adamantly.

"If you're referring to Xellos 's line it's actually translated as *that is a secret* in the English dub."

"Picky bastard aren't ya?" Duo snickered as Heero started to lead him somewhere. "The sub's better any way!"

*Thwap*

"Ouch hey that's_my ass, get your own! And where the hell are ya taking me with this blind fold anyway?"

"Sore wa..."

"Blah, blah, Yuy! I want answers, not Anime quotes!"

"You'll see!" The boy chuckled some more as he led Duo into his bedroom and stood him just inside the door. "Now stay here until I tell you otherwise."

"What!?" Duo exclaimed. "But what about the blindfold?"

"Just wait for my instructions or you'll ruin the surprise." he replied, heading for the bathroom.

Duo sighed and stood quietly waiting for Heero to come back. It seemed to take forever and all he could hear was the rustling of paper and plastic. "Just what the hell is this surprise Yuy? A box of Rice Crispies and some Cracker Jacks?"

No reply.

"Heero can I take this blindfold off yet?"

Still no reply.

"Heero. C'mon man I really wanna get this blindfold off, it smells like chicken!"

"Alright Duo, you can remove it now." came Heero's voice from somewhere across the room.

Duo sighed a sigh of relief as he yanked the tea towel off his head. He stared, and stared at the sight that his eyes confronted. All over the floor, leading from the walls up to the bed were rose petals covering every inch of the floor. Over on his desk there were rose candles and rose scented incense that wafted past his nose. His eyes wandered up towards the end of Heero's bed and his jaw almost hit the floor. There in the middle of a rose petal covered bed was Heero in all his naked glory, nothing but a few rose petals covering the boy's groin and a single red rose in his mouth. Duo almost choked from sucking in his breath so hard.

"Surprise Duo." Heero said sincerely, removing the rose from his mouth. "I'm ready for this now. My virginity is for you to take and you alone. I realize that now. I could never allow any one else to have it but you. I love you Duo Maxwell."

"H, H, Heero..." The shocked boy could barely speak. His voice was a hoarse whisper and he stood there trying to take all this into his system. The effort that he must have put into this, the time it would have taken to collect all the rose petals; and for one brief moment, Duo being Duo, wondered who's garden the boy had stolen them from. But, hey, who cared? Heero had done this all for him. This was his way of letting Duo know he was finally ready and all that Duo could do was stand there... stunned. After all that had happened, after everything had been said and done, Heero's gift to Duo was his virginity.

Duo stood there in the doorway not moving a muscle. Unsure now of what the next step should be, all he could do was stand there and doubt himself and his capabilities, and for the first time he could really understand what Heero had felt, what he must have gone through before.

"God I've been so selfish. I don't deserve this Heero and I don't deserve you!"

A small sigh escaped Heero's lips and he slowly pulled himself up from his bed and Duo gawked as the petals drifted slowly down onto the bed, revealing the boy in his perfect naked splendor. Duo had seen Heero naked on many other occasions but this time he was totally unprepared.

Heero stepped up as close as he could to the violet eyed nervous wreck and touched a hand softly up to his cheek. "Why do you keep beating yourself up over what's happened in the past?"

Duo sighed. "Because I…"

"No more Duo." Heero insisted. "Enough is enough. It's over, let it go. I told you I wasn't going to say it again and I won't. You know what you need to do Duo Maxwell."

Duo blushed as Heero pulled him over to the bed and lay himself back down. The violet eyed Shinigami seemed to have lost his nerve even though the object of his affection was there before him, offering himself up as a gift.

Heero gave him a reassuring smile and held his hand out to him. "Duo…" the boy began softly. "Come to me."

Tentatively Duo reached out, accepting the offered hand, allowing him self to be pulled down onto the bed beside Heero.

Slowly, Heero began caressing Duo's thigh, his hand moved swiftly around to the small of his back pulling the braided baka close in a heated kiss.

Finally, Duo succumbed to Heero's passionate embrace and he let himself go, returning the kiss just as passionately as he had received it.

The scene had been set, the wheels were now in motion and they both knew there would be no turning back this time.

Heero's agile hands made short work of the buttons on Duo's shirt and trousers and a few minutes later he had tossed the offending garments onto the floor, sending rose petals scurrying into the air. He lay Duo down onto the bed and gently traced a line with his finger from his navel up to his chest circling the boy's nipple, causing him to gasp softly as Heero's gentle touches made his body quiver a little.

Gentle hands explored his upper torso, slowly making their way down to his groin, purposely bypassing the hardening shaft that was developing between his legs and he groaned as the boy repeated this twice more, softly caressing every part of the violet-eyed boy's body, not once yielding to the flesh that was now beginning to ache in anticipation.

Heero stopped for a moment, looking deeply into the violet eyes of the blushing boy. "Take me Duo. I want you to show me the love that you said you wanted to share with me."

Duo sat upright. "I don't have that right Heero. You've been so forgiving and I've realized that your love for me has always been strong. I just couldn't see it for my stubbornness." he replied, gently tracing the blue eyed boy's cheek with the back of his hand. "I think it would only be fair for you to have the pleasure of taking me first."

Heero smiled taking Duo's hand in his own and softly bestowed fleeting kisses upon it. "You've waited so long for this moment though Koi. I want you to have the honor."

"I won't let you do this Heero. You should be first in discovering what real loving is all about."

"Ok… This isn't how it's supposed to happen Duo." Heero said with a frustrated look on his face. "And there is no physical way possible that we can do this at the same time. So we need to decide who's going first."
