Ch 4: turmoil
The blaring sound filled my ears and I felt a hard smack come to my disorientated head.
“Aw come on baby, not yet.” I murmured my mind still partially in the previous night as I pulled down the person attacking me and rolled on top. I dropped my head licking her neck and ear.
“You are a dead man.” My eyes shot wide as I heard the murmured threat and felt a pain like no other between my legs causing nausea to twist my stomach as I was pushed to the side and rolled on the floor grabbing my wounded pride, coughing in air.
“Mornin Lania.” I groaned with watering eyes. I rather tangle with Trish any day than Lania. She was a vicious woman.
“I hate morning and you.” She snapped slamming my door behind her as she left.
“Yeah, love ya too.” I grunted as I tenderly rose to my feet. “Fuckin strong for her size.”
She kicked me something fierce in the fun and prizes and I knew it was going to be a few minutes until I was stabilized, but I didn't have time to waste. I went in the bathroom, unable to relieve myself at the moment so instead did the normal ritual of brushing teeth and finally braided my hair again; no way I could have it out at work. I peeled off Charlie's clothes for the second time. Course the first time; I wasn't the one doing the peeling. I snickered pulling the number from the back pocket of the pants.
“Josephine.” I read the name of the woman I'd bedded last night, not able to recall it on brainpower alone. She babbled about being some famous model on earth, I didn't care as long as she kept sucking on my cock. I thought about the night. She hadn't been too bad, course imagining her as Lania made it a little better. My stomach again twisted, maybe it wasn't.
I went to making coffee and changing into my work clothes. I was finally able to relieve myself and headed for the train missing the one I had to catch, still feeling the ache in my nuts and bolt from Lania's kick.
I slipped onto the next train and kept incognito, still trying to overcome the pain. Man of all the places for Lania to take out her anger. I mean yeah I was in the wrong, but come on; she didn't have to be so rough with my junk. She had no idea how much one kick could affect a guys entire day. Man I would make her pay when I got home.
I stopped off at the convenience store and got a large sandwich for lunch. I scoffed catching a picture of me head butting the guy from the train the other day that was plastered on the cover of the ESUN Times, a highly renowned paper. I wasn't surprised it was always like that. Everyday in some magazine, paper, or tabloid some story could be found with me in it. It didn't affect my job or daily life any therefore didn't really matter to me, don't get me wrong it did annoy me, but there wasn't anything I could do about it, someone was always watching me.
I headed to the site, late as usual. I hopped on the lift heading down to the 5th floor subbasement. Usually we wouldn't be doing as much on site for normal buildings, but this building wasn't normal. The whole building was going to be made gundanium steel mix, meaning the next thing we had to do was walls and floors for the entire 55 floors including the 5 sub basements. Yeah it was going to fuckin blow.
“Pitbull! What he fuck did I tell you bout showin up late?!” Blow really hard.
“Hey Boss, give me a break man! I got my kibbles and bit's nailed by my fuckin Landlord this morning. She's a real ball breaker and I ain't even lyin!” I yelled down to Mickey as I hit the 3rd basement.
“I don't care bout your nightly encounters just get your ass down her and hook up with Sandman.” He snapped. I would usually jump the lift by now, but it wasn't happening as my shit was still all fucked up.
I quickly went over to Charlie where he was dealing with one of the large slabs of wall and we started at it, bolting each to the frame we had so recently set. The concrete layers already taking care of the outer wall. We busted our asses in the August heat and by lunch already finished the first floor. Mickey yelling at us the entire time to remember not to put the slabs with windows cut in them on the floors, course the floor designs were fuckin terrible too so we had to be careful about which ones went where as the elevator and stairs still had to be considered. Amazingly we got six floors done without fucking anything up, before we took lunch.
“Pitbull, details fuckin now!” Yoshi was to me in a second.
“Another conquest I see.” Charlie snorted.
“The hell you expect from me?” I retorted.
“I keep my expectations low, that way I'm never disappointed.” He shot back.
“You jealous?” I smirked. “Heh, come on Sandman, I wouldn't mind giving that ass a tap.”
“I rather sleep with a woman.” His words serious.
A roar of laughter surrounded me of those pointing out I had totally been burned. I let it go, knowing I had no comeback. Charlie still came and sat by me followed by the rest of the crew minus Mickey, who always took off during lunch to meet his wife, to hear of my conquest.
I immediately went into the details of the night, or those I could remember. From remarking on her cock sucking skills to the places we went at it on. The story wasn't that long, but of course Yoshi needed every detail as the pervert he was and I had no mind telling it all.
“So was it really your landlady that kicked you, or was it the chick after you told her you don't do the same thing twice when she asked you to go out with her tonight?” Adam interjected.
“Funny story that, but it was really my Landlady.” I felt slightly embarrassed bout the whole thing and didn't want to get specific.
“What? Your landlady got a thing for you and pissed your gettin other chicks?”
“Nah, it ain't nothin like that 6-Inch.”
“You have a thing for your landlady and she's got nothing for you. I'm actually surprised.” Charlie easily aired my business as he was able to read my every thought for some fucking reason.
“Whoa, man that's hard to believe. You get every chick you want, even if they are married and shit. Damn man that's gotta hurt.” J-Rod said.
“Yeah, it sucks thanks for reminding me.”
“She hot?” Adam asked.
“Dude you don't even know.”
“Shit man I wanna come over and see this chick.” Yoshi asked.
“To me she seems out of your league, and even more so if Duo can not bed her. Perhaps she seeks someone more refined like me.”
“Ha, hell naw Princess, she would break you in a second. Plus she's already got a guy and he's a total tool. Seriously I got no idea how she can dis me and stay with his ass. I mean he even kinda looks like me and all, but she doesn't even give me a second glance.”
“Maybe she has taste.” Maleek interjected.
“Shut it Q-ball.”
“Hm, I'm kinda curious about this now.” Adam said.
“It's not something to be curious about. I'm not inviting any of you over cause then she'll know something's up and I don't want to ruin what I got.” I snapped.
“Doesn't sound like you got anything.” Ty grunted.
“Well I'm still working on it.” I frowned and the group fell silent all lost in their own imaginations.
I glanced over to Charlie who was oddly silent. “I know you ain't imaging what this chick looks like so why ain't you took a jab yet?”
“Because, I'm unsettled in the fact I'm pretty sure I know who you're talking about.”
The group held its collective breath including me as we all stared at Charlie. I finally asked the question that was on all our tongues. “Who do you think it is?”
Charlie looked at me. “She said she had a tenant she went and saw sometimes, cause she felt bad for him since he seemed like a retard. How could I not get that was you?”
The group behind me snickered a bit, but it was Yoshi who was itching for an answer. “What's her name man? Is she hot? Come on, the suspense is killing me.”
Charlie completely disregarded him and gave me a look over. “I guess you do kind of resemble Albel too. You both have long hair, and violet eyes, pretty close build. Though I hate to say your personality is actually much better than his.”
“Oh my god, you do know her.” I stared in shock
“Lania Nox.” Charlie and I said in unison. He instantly laughing while I was still trying to comprehend it all.
“Yeah you aren't going to get anywhere with her. Man I have been friends with her since we were in grade school. Oh this is just too good.” Charlie lost it, finding the whole situation hilarious.
“It's not that funny dude.” I huffed in anger.
“Oh no, it is.” He laughed.
“I don't follow.” J-Rod said and Charlie was off to giving the guys a new reason to make fun of me.
“Lania is a treat; I mean I guess she's pretty, but oh her attitude. She will fly off the handle in a breath. Don't get me wrong she is one of my greatest friends, but it takes a special kind of person to even want to go near her, especially once she opens her mouth. And don't even get me started on her husband. I'm seriously surprised Duo is still here. He freaks out anytime anyone looks at her and if you talk to her, you're asking to get your face broken. It's the most dysfunctional thing I've ever seen in my life. Duo really is a fuckin retard.” Charlie cackled and so did everyone else.
I pouted in the center of the group. “Ha ha ha! Yer all fuckin stupid!”
“I guess Kondo is an equal opportunity employer!” Adam yelled over the roaring laughter, which only increased. I couldn't help, but chuckle it was a good one.
“Lady's!” The laughter immediately turned to groans. “Get your lazy asses back to work!” Mickey demanded.
“Sandman. Take the retard and start on the floor of the second floor/ceiling of the first floor. Tank and Jinks will be up top I want you two on the bottom.” Mickey laughed giving me a pat on the back apparently catching the end of our conversation making everyone else laugh.
I gave a shallow laugh with them rolling my eyes. Charlie and I went down to the ground floor finding the tools we needed for our end of the procedure. We pulled out the large ladders and set up rows of zip lines, each held by a special magnetic holder to each side of the walls that were easily turned on by a press of a button. The weight limit on them and the lines was over a ton, so there was no fear of failure. We kept all our equipment up to date and checked so there had never been any injuries do to equipment failure, one of us fuckin up, now that was a whole nother story.
Charlie and I connected our clips to the lines and slid out awaiting Ty and Adam to lay down our respective pieces to bolt in and began the arduous task of hanging in mid air and bolting the underside of the ceiling, which would be the floor of the second floor. When we wanted to trade to a different line, we simply grabbed said line and held ourselves up by legs on the previous lines and arms on our wanted line and reattached our clips to said line. The bolt drivers were on their own separate cords one could hook to a line or onto the equipment belts we wore, Charlie and I usually left he drivers on our equipment belts. Working for Kondo took a lot of strength and endurance, course there were easier ways about it, but Charlie and I had done this kind of work for years and were prone to cutting corners wherever we could and setting up twenty lines vertical and skipping the horizontal just seemed like a lot less wasted time, course Mickey bitched us out every time we did it, but it never stopped us.
“You should have played the pain from Lania's kick off a little longer jackass.” Charlie commented. Mickey was a good guy not making us do ceilings right off the bat. He must have known I wasn't playing when I said I took a good hit this morning. Guy was cool enough just to have us do walls while I was feeling the hurt.
“Well I didn't think about it.” I snapped. This was normally our job in buildings that requested metal reinforcements in floors/ceilings and it was amazing how many buildings did and how many actually needed it, course it wasn't on every damn floor like the Preventers building just had to be.
“I'm surprised. No really. You not think. Unheard of.” Charlie cut off my reply as he started driving bolts in with the driver.
“Whatever.” I muttered to myself as I began my side, Adam laying down the steel slab.
Charlie and I moved with speed unequaled along the ropes as if we were born on them. Our moves fluid and perfected, each on opposing sides, never getting in each others way even when we met at the center. It took us little time to finish. Of course all of us were extremely efficient in our areas. Adam and Ty were done nearly the same time we were, well after we took down all the ropes and set to the next floor, gathering all our equipment and entering the lift. We hit the next floor doing it all again.
Mickey pushed us farther today, I suppose even he wanted to impress the Preventers so our work day moved to 16 hours and left the whole of us exhausted, almost too exhausted to get drinks. We did make it to the eleventh floor, but the exhaustion took its toll and we were barely out putting by the end. Charlie and my elaborate dance along the cords more of a sloth like movement and the horizontal lines needed as we could barely hold up our own weight.
We all left with groaning parts most went to their respective homes save for Adam, Ty, Meleek, Mickey and I. The five of us sharing a few rounds before heading to bed. By the time I left the bar I didn't even have the energy for a conquest, but I did have to talk to Lania.
I sighed heading up to her apartment, which was two up from mine. I stood on the outside walkway in front of her door and gave a knock. I was hating the sound proofing as I couldn't tell if she was home or not. I raised my hand to knock as the door opened.
“Woman this is your duty as a woman!” I could see Albel, but he was still yelling at Lania who was somewhere in the apartment.
“You're the one that wouldn't let me answer the fucking door and now your going to yell at me for it!?”
“Bah! Your body is mine; you will be dressed appropriately before conducting your woman duties.” He growled looking like he was going to pay attention to me.
“Well I just got out of the fuckin shower! What the hell do you expect?”
“Woman silence! Your incessant naggings are distracting me from man business!” And he was again distracted screaming loud enough I was sure I heard people gasping on the street below.
I heard nothing from the apartment, apparently Lania had given up. Albel finally turned to me and I gave a smile sure this was a bad idea.
“Hey Albel, is Lania-” My words were cut off as Albel's hand locked on my throat and my back was slammed against the metal railing that blocked off the out door walkway.
“Dare you touch that which is mine! Your life ends now maggot.” Albel looked rabid and I knew I was going to have to get violent, here was hoping the Preventer's weren't watching.
“God dammit Albel!” Lania stepped in before I got a chance to do anything smacking him hard upside the head. It didn't seem like the hit was truly that hard, but nonetheless Albel released me.
“Woman you have struck me.” Albel was bewildered by the situation.
“Yeah and I'm going to do worse if you don't take your stupid ass inside.”
“But this man's sent was on you! I have warned him of touching my woman!” Albel was ready to attack again. Lania shoved him inside.
“We will talk about this later, just let me handle it now or I swear to god your ass is going over that railing.” She growled in rage.
“Bah!” Albel snorted and stepped behind the door still glaring at me.
“Anyfuckinway, you have a reason to be up here.” She was pleasant as usual.
“Uh, yeah.” I said scratching the back of my head. It was easier to say I was going to do something then actually do it now that I was faced by her. I didn't have the guts to say anything about the morning interaction so just went with the other reason I came up. “Um, I'm gonna be having a kid stay with me for the weekend if that's cool.”
“Kid?” Lania did not seem pleased.
I sighed heavily. “Yeah, you probably know him too. Names Jaster. Jaster Fitter.”
“Oh my god!” She instantly turned to Albel jumping on him giving him a tight hug, leaving me to look on with a `what the fuck' face. I mean I'm the one that tells her and he gets all the love. I was a retard. “Albel, our little Jaster's coming!”
“Hm.” Albel grunted. “We will watch that child as that frail thing is incapable of sustaining life on its own and would only cloud the man-child's head with meaningless drivel.”
I fuckin hated that guy. “Naw, it's cool, Charlie asked me to watch him.”
“That's fine; Albel and I have to go to my sisters tomorrow.”
“Woman! What is the meaning of this?!” Albel was in a rage. “You told me of no such thing!”
“Cause I knew you would freak out like you do over everything!” The door was slammed in my face.
“Thanks for coming up and telling me Duo. You're the best.” I muttered to myself before heading dejectedly back down to my apartment.
Lania woke me up as usual in the morning, with a smack to the head. I did my normal and headed to the train for work missing the one I was suppose to make and arriving late getting yelled at by Mickey, before Charlie and I started our highflying dance until lunch.
“So you told Lania you know me?” Charlie said taking a seat next to me.
“Oh more about the lovely Lania Landlady our boy Pitbull can't land?” Adam took up residence next to me and before I knew it the crew again surrounded us.
“Come on, don't you guys have your own lives to talk about?” I snorted eating a bento lunchbox I picked up at the convenience store.
“Yeah, but they ain't as interesting as yours.” Yoshi added.
“Ha, your one to talk there 6-Inch, you always got some shit going wrong.”
“Shut up J-Rod. My shit's all under control.”
“For now.” Maleek snickered.
“You will have to excuse me. I must attend to our visitors this afternoon.”
The group of us turned to Renold who quickly finished his lunch and stood leaving us. He was the only one not paired with anyone, as he was next in command under Mickey. He did less of the physical work and was more communicating with the engineers, clients, and let Mickey know of any changes. He was usually on site, but only when emergency demanded did he do the actual labor. It was pretty good plan, since he wasn't as physical as the rest of us. He was bigger then Quatre and shit, but not really made for our line of work.
“Visitors?” I was one of the few not keeping up.
“Pitbull, you gotta be fucking kidding me.”
“You would really think so wouldn't you Jinks, but no, he's really that fuckin stupid.” Charlie snorted next to me.
“I'm not fuckin stupid!” I snapped at Charlie.
“Watch out Sandman, you're giving him a two battle front, you know how hard that is for him.” Everyone laughed at Adam's comment.
“It's a battle and a half; don't give him too much credit.”
“Yeah but you forgot how shiny everything is round here.”
“Shut up 6-Inch!” I snapped. Adam and Charlie dogging me was one thing.
“Hey they started it.” Yoshi snorted.
“I'm bout to fuckin finish it.” I grunted back.
“You can't even finish a thought.”
“No yer fuckin stupid!” I went after Charlie, but my insult wasn't heard over the roaring laughter. I fell quiet knowing when to cut my losses and finished my lunch while the group talked over nothing in particular.
“Lady's, time to get off your fat asses this building ain't gonna finish itself!” The groans left us as we went back to work. “We got visitors today so no cutting corners.” Mickey glanced to Charlie. “Got that Sandman.”
“Yeah, got it boss.” Course that was a lie as we set up our lines skipping the horizontals. It would take them awhile to get all the way to our floor anyway.
“Dude, Boss totally called you out.” I snickered as I hosted myself up on a line, Adam laying down the first flat of steel.
“Only cause he knows you're the stupid one out of the two of us.” Charlie snickered.
“The fuck I am. Yer the one that's fuckin stupid.” I shot back.
“Ooo, the pain. How many days did it take you to think that one up?”
“Just now!”
Charlie rolled his eyes at me as I muttered to myself, losing yet again. We started our dance on the lines. We were nearly finished with the 16th floor. I was mid transferring lines, leaving my bolt driver hanging from the line I was going to not wanting to waste the energy caring it over with me.
“Pitbull! Sandman! What the fuck did I tell you!” The scream caused me to jump, my hands releasing the line they were holding, also forcing me to notice I hadn't hooked my clip to the next line. Charlie was put off too, but we were working close together at the time. He reacted without thought, reaching his hand for me as gravity forced itself upon me, but his reach was half a second too late. I put my hands out behind me and tucked my chin to my chest.
The slam reverberated in the confined floor, the steel a perfect conductor for my monstrous hit. I lay for a minute assessing the damage, which was all superficial. Just a case of being knocked breathless and a few bruises. My head did knock back, but the helmet served its purpose.
“You alright man?” Charlie spoke from above me as the rumbling my hit caused passed.
“Nn, yeah.” I groaned sitting up coughing in a breath.
“Good cause your fuckin face was classic. Had the `o' and all.” Charlie cackled.
“Dude! Not fuckin cool!” I grunted back getting to my feet glaring up at Charlie.
“Oh come on, the only thing missing was a sissy little scream. You would have reminded me of the little daughter I never had.” Charlie laughed on.
“That's fuckin it Sandman. Yer going down!” In a split second I trucked it across the room using the wall to run up and jumped off grabbing one of the lines. Charlie gave me an `oh shit' look as he quickly moved along the lines away from me. I using them like monkey bars chasing him down.
“Pitbull! Drop it!” My movements froze at Mickey's authoritive yell.
“Yer so fuckin lucky.” I snorted to Charlie before dropping down on the metal floor below, bending my knees to absorb the shock. I was facing Charlie who hit the ground in front of me, Mickey and the lift to my back.
“Sandman what the hell did I tell you? I swear the two of you are gonna be the fuckin death of me.”
I couldn't help, but snicker at Charlie getting yelled at. Course the snicker caused my body to shake and Mickey was not a stupid guy.
“The hell you laughing at Pitbull? You're the retard I gotta worry about, always getting yourself into some kinda no good.”
Charlie gave me smirk, which I returned with a scowl and flip off before turning around to face Mickey, Renold just behind him. The scowl increased as I saw the counterparts they had with them. Both in their Preventer uniforms. Yuy looking like his TV appearance, Wufei was pretty much the same as he was back during the war too. He did age a bit, but he still looked flawless and regal like his Chinese descent called for. I was sure his hair was still back tight under the hard hat he wore. Small strands hung loose showing it was just barely shoulder length. His hair black and his eyes nearly matching, such a dark brown it was hard to tell where the iris started and pupil ended.
I noted we were all about evenly matched in muscle mass, but I wondered if that were truly the case. Training was training, but construction was grueling, especially what we did. I wasn't exactly sure how to deal with them, so I went with the easiest and only thing that came to mind. Ignoring them. I was on the job anyway.
“Sorry bout that boss.” I said throwing him a grin.
“Yer fuckin right you're sorry Pitbull.” Mickey shook his head at me. “Ya seem fine, just get back up there and finish the floor, but on the next floor I want those lines up and all of them. No jumpin down like that either. Use the god damn ladders.”
“You got it boss. Won't happen again.”
“Yeah, yeah Sandman. How many times have I heard that now?” Mickey grunted as the two of us went to our respective ladders and back to work.
“What are they doing?” My hand wanted to tear the handle from the bolt driver as Yuy's voice filled the empty room.
“Pitbull.” Charlie murmured to me causing me to look at him. He nodded up to the bolts reminding me I had a job to do. We started at it again as Mickey began explaining what our highflying act was all about.
I'm not sure what else they showed them, but they had the lift held up for the next four floors making Charlie and I have to use the holes for the stairway to move up. We had just set up the lines for the 20th floor. I climbed up getting ready and noticed Charlie wasn't up with me.
“What the fuck Sandman?” I questioned looking down on him.
“I told you I was leaving early today.” He said gathering his equipment from the floor.
“The hell you did!”
“Yeah, I did. It's not my fault if you don't listen.” He said moving to the lift, which was on its way down.
“I do to listen and you didn't fuckin tell me.”
“That fall must have knocked out more of your preciously few brain cells. Regardless I'm leaving.” Charlie said as the lift came to our floor.
“You out Sandman?” Mickey asked as Charlie got on.
“Yep, you gonna leave Pitbull all on his own?”
Mickey looked up at me. “Heh, he's a resilient little bastard. Plus, this is your guys' specialty so if he's gotta stay late, he's gotta stay late.”
I was left gapping at the two before the frown coated my features. “Evil. Both of you evil! You so owe me for this Sandman!”
“Yeah, yeah. I'll get you drunk on Monday.”
I smirked. “Deal. I'll drink your whole check away!”
“Better be careful there Sandman, he might really do it.” Mickey and Charlie chuckled.
“I'll stay on this floor.” Yuy said pushing past the two and stepping onto the floor.
Mickey and Charlie shared a nervous glance. Yuy was up to something, even I knew that, but I wouldn't let him try to push me around. There was no way I was going to show him any weakness while he was on my colony.
“It's fine. Ain't like I can hear shit over this driver anyway.” I quelled all insecurities as the lift moved on leaving Yuy and I alone in the room. Adam laying down the first slab of metal for me to deal with.
I said nothing to Yuy quickly starting on the metal sheet and moving to the next Ty had lain down. It took me nearly double the time to do two sides and irked me even more that Yuy was beneath me watching the entire time. I slid across the ropes undoing them from the wall hanging on the line next to the one I recently detached making the job a lot easier until I reached the last one. I hauled all the equipment together throwing it on the lift with the ladders. I went for the bolt driver I had dismissed before getting everything on the lift.
“Are you just going to ignore me?” Yuy asked stepping in front of me. We were nearly evenly matched in height, he only a few centimeters taller than me.
“Obviously not since you're getting in my way.” I snorted as I side stepped him and grabbed the bolt drive.
“It's been awhile.”
I gripped the bolt driver in hand standing turning my head to him pulling a cynical raise of the eyebrow. “You really tryin to start some small talk here? Drop the act. We aren't friends; we aren't acquaintances, so lets not waste time on pleasantries.” My eyes met the deep cobalt that I used to be able to read so easily, but was now a mystery to me. “I got nothing to say to you Yu. I don't know what you're here for and I don't care. Stay the hell away from me and everything will be fine. Give Chang that message too. I don't want anything to do with you Preventer fucks.”
Yuy grabbed my arm as I turned to go towards the lift. “Tell me why you did it Duo.”
Instinctively I knew what he was asking me about; there was only one thing he could want an explanation for. I grinned venomously over my shoulder. “I don't have to explain myself to you.”
Heero reluctantly released my arm. Seems he realized he had no leg to stand on.
“Back then I said some regrettable things. I understand…”
“No you don't Yuy. You don't understand a damn thing.” My back was too him as I looked to the lift. It was a complicated mix of emotions that took me, not at all easy to explain. There were a lot of things that happened in that short moment of the past and I had analyzed it to a fault. The conclusions I derived didn't fill me with the least bit of pleasure. I wanted to say plenty of things to Heero, but nothing seemed right.
“Duo…”
“Just forget it. I already have. It went the way it had to back then.” I cut Yuy off again getting on the lift giving him a smile that came out as more of a snarl. “Let's not meet again.” I hit the button heading to the next floor. The work site wasn't the place to deal with personal issues. It was for work, and way too much of it I had to do solo.
I was greeted with a group of diverted eyes, I rolling mine. Should have known, anything happens on the site or off the site, hell I fuckin sneeze stupidly and all the guys know. That didn't mean I wasn't going talk some shit.
“Seriously guys, nothin better to do?”
“The hell you talkin man? We're just recheckin the floor.” Yoshi threw an excuse.
Adam held out one hand. “Watch that,” Adam held out his other hand, “or work.” He did a short scale of justice routine. “You really gonna ask us?”
“Touché. Now get the fuck outta here before I get in trouble.” I said grabbing my equipment from the lift and pushing them on. I damn well knew Mickey would yell at me for that shit, especially when I had to cover Charlie's side of the job.
