Body Crumbles

A whimpering noise rose from the bedroom. Emily had been told to avoid that room at all cost unless told otherwise. Her father was holding someone in there, holding them so that they did not go mad with thirst. It was not the first time something like this had happened, but the male that was currently in the bedroom had been here longer then any of the others. She was starting to wonder if anyone knew he existed in the outside world.

Her father came into the dining room then, holding a wicked looking blade and a cup. She was born and raised on L2, and did not even flinch when the sharp edge cut her father's forearm. The whimpers had died down, but as the blood welted to the surface the screaming started. She did flinch then.

Her father's face was creased in concentration as he slowly filled the glass. He was not a vampire himself, but he had witnessed what the L2 government had done to make them. He helped where he could. Emily's father handed her the large glass full of blood, jerking his head towards the bedroom door. She looked at her father for a moment then nodded, turning her back on him and moving swiftly.

Emily had learned a great deal of things about Vampires from her father and experience. One thing she knew for sure was that when a Vampire was screaming like this he or she was in agony, the thirst taking over all rational thought and making them one big ache.

Her and her father usually accepted those Vampires that had used the war as cover for their hunger. They taught them to hold off as long and control. They did not want Vampires to be hunted down like dogs because they killed people. Vampires like this one learned quickly, and usually when they had mastered the ability to drink from someone in small doses, they let them go. This Vampire had wanted to stay here, learning more and more control. He had gotten to the point where he could go almost a week without feeding.

She was standing beside the bed before she knew it, coaxing the man strapped to the bed to open his mouth. His fangs were flashing at her, but he was not arching up off the bed and tugging at his restraints to try and get at her. He had more control then many of the other Vampires they had helped. His mouth opened after a moment and she carefully poured the fresh blood into his mouth, careful not to spill even a drop. A couple of years ago she had accidentally spilled blood on one female's face. She had eaten through her own cheek to get at it.

When the glass was gone, glazed violet eyes opened to regard her with humiliation and thanks. She just smiled at him. “Are you okay now Sir?” She asked politely, setting the cup down on the table to be retrieved when she left.

He nodded his head slowly, shifting under the covers slightly. “Aye…” He said, his voice scratched from the screaming. “I am fine now.”

Emily looked at him critically for a moment, her hands hesitating to release the straps that held him down to the bed. He just watched, his eyes pleading to be let go. He had a high aversion to being tied up, but Emily and her father had deemed it necessary when he started to get violent from the lack of nutrition. She finally gave in and removed the leather from around his wrists and ankles. He sat up slowly, rubbing circulation back into his arms. They had stretched him out so that he had little leverage to get free with. Even with the inhuman strength it made it almost impossible for any vampire to escape in the troughs of Blood Lust.

She turned way and blushed when his chest was exposed. This one was well built, muscles rippling under his skin. Even if there was very little unscarred skin he was still very beautiful. One thing that captivated her most about this one was his hair, down to his knees when he was standing and always in a braid. Emily made some excuse and quickly left the room, grabbing the cup on the way out. She knew that he was untouchable and did not want to tempt herself with something that she could never have.

She quietly shut the door behind her and went to wash out the cup. Her father was where she had left him, sitting at the table. He was on the phone however, a slight frown on his face. Deciding not to bother him, she continued on with her task.

As she washed the blood down the sink, she heard her father make noise of understanding. That it's self was strange to her because he was usually the one talking on the phone, making the other listen. Shrugging a shoulder, she shut off the water and placed the cup upside down on a towel by the sink. She turned to her room, gathering her knives to be sharpened. It had been almost a week since she had sharpened them all, and they got dull fast when one grew up on L2.

She had just finished her second knife when the Vampire came out of the bedroom, dressed from head to foot in black. Her father had gathered some bills, adding them up and clicking his tongue over his teeth as he regarded the totals. The violet eyed male sat beside them, looking ragged and worn out.

Emily's father looked up from his papers, his jaw tightening as he found the best way to give out bad news. Emily had seen it enough in her time; she knew all the signs when she saw them.

Her father sighed softly, obviously going for the straightforward approach. His voice slightly cautious, but not holding any information back. “Duo, it seems that some people are looking for you, and they are being very persistent about it.”

A/N) Ladies and Gentlemen! Duo Maxwell has appeared!

I tired to pack as much information into it as I could, but I don't know how many questions I answered and how many new ones I raised. It's kind of hard to foretell questions because I don't ask any. I have all the answers to this story.

If you all would be so kind, ask me your questions and I will incorporate the answer into the chapters. I don't want to leave anything unsaid or left open. That would be kind of bad.
