This story takes place in medieval times and the gundams don't exist. I'm just borrowing the characters.

*Thump, thump, thump *

Footsteps could be heard running through the dark forest. An owl hooted as a small figure darted past its tree. If you listened really carefully, you could hear slower, heavier footsteps closing in on the figure.

The figure burst out of the forest and started to run even faster. The shadow following it also put on a burst of speed. The figure glanced at the horizon. It was starting to glow light orange. 'Yes!' he thought happily, as he glanced behind him to see how close the shadow was.

Big Mistake.

The figure collided with a barn and was trapped. The shadow drew nearer and nearer every second. The frantic figure scrabbled to get up but in his blind panic, his feet kept slipping on the loose dirt. He fell and there was nothing else he could do. He could feel his heart pounding furiously as the shadow closed in on him.

He screwed his eyes shut, praying that dying wasn't that bad. He could sense the thing drawing closer and closer. He braced himself for the attack. He could feel and smell the shadow's hot, putrid breath. It licked its lips. It was ravenous. It was just about to pounce when the sun peeked over the horizon, casting off a flood of the light on the 2.

The shadow cowered and let out a terrible scream, then fled back to the forest. That blood-curdling scream told the boy that a miracle had happened.

'I'm safe for another night,' he thought, through, a sigh of relief. He got up and stumbled into the barn. 'I'm so tired,' he thought blearily as he collapsed in a pile of fresh hay. He fell into a deep sleep, listening to the rhythm of his heart.
