"My Hero"
November 2007 - ShenLong
"I'm sure it was just an accident," Duo soothed a very wet Trowa, leading the lanky man back to their table in the sun.
Trowa squelched beside him, opting to say nothing and let the puddles he was leaving speak on his behalf.
Quatre had disappeared, muttering something about finding a towel and dry clothes.
Duo wished him luck.
Trowa sat down with a bit of a squishing noise and proceeded to remove his shoes and socks, hanging his socks over the back of a chair to dry and putting his shoes in the sun on the concrete. He was about to remove his shirt when he spotted a group of girls sitting at a table just across from them. They were all staring glassy eyed - at him; and drooling.
He decided to keep the shirt on.
The girls all pouted.
Trowa hid behind his bang.
"I'm going to take a walk," announced Wufei.
"I'll come with you," Heero said and got up. The stares of the girls were beginning to make him uncomfortable.
"Okay, don't get lost," Duo replied. He was completely oblivious to the staring girls and the way they were making his fellow ex pilots uncomfortable. Having people stare at him all the time because of his hair, Duo had learned to ignore it.
Wufei snorted. "How can you get lost in a theme park?"
"Beats me," Heero replied with a shrug of his shoulders. "We have a map."
Wufei and Hero disappeared leaving Duo to fuss over a still dripping Trowa.
Quatre came back soon after with a towel, but no dry clothes and complaining about the cost of the towel. "It's a conspiracy," he snapped as he began to towel dry Trowa's hair for him. "They rob you blind, charge exorbitant fees for a simple towel you would only pay half the price for at the mall," he continued to rant, his ministrations getting a touch rougher. "It's a complete scam, a rip off."
Duo watched in amusement as Trowa's head was jerked back and forth under Quatre's hands and the towel. Fearing that Trowa may suffer brain damage if Quatre didn't stop soon, he spoke. "I agree with you, Q-man, they do take advantage and rip you off, but if you keep up that vigorous toweling you're likely to do some ripping off of your own."
"Eh?"
Duo nodded to Trowa's head that was under the towel.
"Oh shit! Sorry, Trowa. Guess I was getting a little carried away there."
Trowa gave his lover a long suffering look, one that could easily be seen considering all his hair, including the bangs, were sticking straight up in the air.
Wufei chose that moment to return. "What happened, Barton? Didn't anyone ever tell you it's dangerous to stick your finger in an electrical socket?"
Trowa glared and pointed to the blonde still holding the towel before hastily finger combing his bangs back down to cover half his face. Feeling much safer now, Trowa looked around and then questioned, "Where's Yuy?"
Wufei pointed to a ride a short distance away. "There."
"Oh fuck!" said Duo, eyes wide as he looked at the 'Superman, The Escape ride'. It was similar to a roller coaster only it went in reverse up a very steep incline then hurtled down at 100mph and up the other side - then repeated the entire thing backwards. The car was currently on its way to the top of the drop.
"How?" asked Trowa.
"We made a bet. He lost," replied Wufei with a shrug of his shoulders and sat down with a smirk on his face. It was clear Chang was not going to elaborate further.
At that moment the 'car' was released and shot down the tracks at breakneck speed.
A distant "Aaaaaaaaaa....!!!" filtered across the breeze to the other four ex pilots ears.
"Look, up in the sky. It's a bird, it's a plane. No, it's a Super Heero!" Duo couldn't help himself.
