Dream of Me
Chapter 5 : A Past Connection
Beep . Beep . Beep
Heero's eyes opened, his hand reaching for the alarm to turn it off. His vision cleared and he immediately started his routine. This was not going to be a day of routine as he was seeing it come, he might have more surprises to unveil.
Minutes later, he left his room and into the kitchen to start the coffee machine. It was all prepared, all he had to do was wait for a minute and it would be ready. He leaned on the counter and glanced at his watch. It was about the time that Relena got up and began her day.
Instantly, the machine beeped and the coffee was on the thermos ready to be drunk. Heero passed a hand over his bangs, unsettling them and made his way to Relena's room with a cup of coffee in his hand. He just hoped that the clock would be working today; unlike two days ago.
He was going to make her get another clock today, it was about time she got a new one and the one she had was pass it's prime.
Relena walked sleepily to the bathroom. Her head was begging for more rest, but she had no time for it. She would have to catch up on her sleep on the plane and on her days off. There was nothing worse than a cranky politician and she was looking the part.
She grimaced as she saw her reflection on the mirror of her bathroom. Her night clothes came off and she entered the shower. This was the only way she could begin the day with a clear head. A cold shower and the coffee that Heero would bring her in just a few minutes.
Their day went like clockwork and she barely had time for time to herself. After the whole week in space, she had about two days off. She was going to spend them sleeping on a hotel room and here when she got back. This was supposed to be a day alone with Heero in the house but with going to the mall, her almost relaxing day was not going to happen.
At least she was going to go to the mall. She hadn't gone shopping for a long time. Being rich and not having any time for simple things was not something that she wanted in her life. It would all promptly change hopefully. It wouldn't be too long until her duty would be over and the weight around her shoulders would be lifted somewhat.
Heero entered the room with a cup of coffee in one hand and papers on the other. They had been faxed during the night. These would come regularly to them, that was one reason to why Relena and himself would get up so early.
He took in the dark, the lights being off at five in the morning. He regulated the light switch and the bulbs started to illuminate the room. It started dimly and as he turned it, the lights came to life with more force and intensity. His eyes quickly adjusted to it and he walked to the table setting the papers on it.
Relena soon came out of the bathroom, ready to get to work. Heero saw the pale color on her face and rolled his eyes. She did it again, she showered with the cold water, at the temperature that was outside and at five in the morning. She was going to get a cold one of this days and she might even get something more serious.
"I know, I know," Relena responded to his silent scolding. "It's the only way for me. Now, let's get to work on this. I don't want anything that will get me late on going to the stores."
Heero agreed. He hated this work. The exhausting face of Relena only made his feelings resolve. Now, it may be easier with Midii with them. She was going to be part of the schedule from now on, it would be easier on Relena and if she did a good job; Relena could finally get more rest into her life.
The hours passed. Relena went over the papers as Heero helped on some parts. The light outside changed as the sun made itself present and the daylight came through the balcony windows. After they were finished, they had to fax the whole thing back and signed.
A code had to be sent out with it. One from Relena and one from Heero for it to be approved of being sent by them.
Relena flexed her muscles as the fax rang, all of the papers being sent back. All of the work today, was postponed until she got back from getting Trowa from the Airport.
The door opened and Midii came in with a cheerful face and the black cat in her hands. It was sleeping, curled up not wanting to be waken.
"Look who I found in the kitchen," Relena smiled as the cat's head elevated and it purred at Midii's caress. Heero looked over his shoulder and continued to fax the papers. "When are we leaving?"
Relena looked for the clock on her nightstand. "In a few minutes." She turned to Heero. "How long is that going to take?"
"Almost done," he responded continuing his work. He had about three more pages to do.
"We'll be in the driveway," Relena stood up and followed Midii out of the room. They went down the stairs, put their coats on and walked outside toward the garage that was right beside the mansion.
Midii shivered at the change of temperature, the cat on her arms got closer to her body getting some of her body heat to himself. Relena took the lead to the garage, she being the one that knew where the things were. She stopped by the garage door and punched in the code to open it up. The automatic door slid up slowly, warm air making it's way out.
Relena entered, Midii followed straining her eyes for the darkened room. The only light came for the door that was partly opened only. Inside, there were seven spaces. Three of them were unoccupied. There were four cars and a motorcycle.
Relena walked to a dark blue Oldsmobile Aurora, taking one of the key chains from the wall. She unlocked it and turned on the ignition. Midii walked through the garage, looking at the cars, passing one of her hands over the hoods. They were all different. Relena joined her, smiling at Midii's admiring glance.
"This is Heero's car." Relena motioned to the light gray Buick Park Avenue. "Mine's the one we'll be taking today."
Midii stopped before the simple limousine. It was painted white instead of the usual pink. "That's mine too." The last car was a Buick Century. It was a rich gleam black and seemed unused.
"Whose is this one?" Midii stared at the car. They were all of the newest models, that was for sure. This family did know how to wheel around.
"It's a new one," Relena answered as she joined her. "Milliardo bought it, he said that if we would need it for some reason. Do you like it?"
"Yes," Midii walked to the motorcycle. "Is this Heero's?"
"Uh-huh," Relena walked to the car and unlocked the other three doors. Midii joined her short after, the cat settled itself on one of the backseats and she settled herself on the second front seat.
Before taking it out of the garage, Relena made sure that all was in order with the gas and oil. Thank god that Heero had taught her how to do all that stuff. A girl had to be a little independent from the people around her. When she was sure that everything was alright, she let the car out and into the driveway. They waited patiently for Heero that was too late.
Relena opened the door and went inside the house to see where he was. She looked in her room, seeing it empty. With a groan, she opened the door to his room slowly.
_______________
In Heero's Room
_______________
Heero looked through his closet for a jacket. He took a dark green, long sleeved out and his gun on the back of his jeans. He was about to open the door when his private phone line rang. It was from the preventers, it was a number set only for them.
"Yes," he greeted the caller. The image popped up a minute later revealing Wufei.
"Hello Yuy," he greeted back. "I hope everything is in order." Heero nodded. "I know you have an unexpected visitor."
This didn't surprise Heero on the least. Lady Une should have informed each of the Gundam Pilots of the situation in which he was involved in.
"There's a problem on the 4th sector," Wufei got right to what he was calling for.
"What kind of problem."
"There have been some strange communications being forecasted from there," Wufei stated. "You know that contrary to public belief, the CIA is still functioning." Heero nodded, he had known for a long time.
"They were the ones that sent us the information." Wufei signaled for his fax. "I'm faxing you the papers plus some unknown information of your ex-spy that they had lying around."
Heero was a little surprise. The CIA didn't bother to study spies like that if they hadn't any connection to major projects in which they were working on. "Why do they have files on her?"
"They couldn't say," Wufei informed. "They were still kind enough to send us the information and files." It wasn't just one file on her, there were more than one.
"It appears that she was well known in the organization," stated Wufei. He turned around from the screen as if talking to someone else.
*That would explain why the people that held her captive wanted her.* Heero moved to the fax and saw as the papers piled up. He hoped that there was enough paper to get everything in there.
Unknown to everyone else, Relena entered the room silently. Heero was engrossed on the fax taking some of the papers to pay any attention to the door. There were two people talking on the vid-phone, engrossed too on their conversation.
With no worries, Relena made her way to Heero making sure that he wouldn't see her. She tried to look over his shoulder which wasn't too much help. Someone returned to the phone getting Heero's attention. He felt a presence behind him, he was late.
"Heero," the female voice led his attention to the phone again. Relena moved to the phone instead of him, surprise at seeing Sally.
"Hey Sally," Relena sat down in front of the phone and made herself comfortable.
Sally smiled at seeing her. "How's everything?"
"Fine," she replied. "We're just getting ready to go-"
"Where's Wufei?" Heero interrupted her.
"He had to go see something," Sally looked behind her back making sure that he was gone. "Yes, he had to see something."
"Tell him I got everything."
"Sure," Sally replied. She smiled as she saw Heero lean in toward Relena to reach something. Relena got it before him and held it in her hands. "You should know that Trowa's going to be a tad late."
"What do you mean?" Relena inquired.
"I mean that there were some problems at the docks of the colony and he had to see it," Sally disappeared from the screen for some seconds. "It's nothing big but his flight had to be changed for a later one."
"What are the new ones?" Relena asked, her pen on her hands already ready to write.
"He's still getting off on the same gate, just on a later flight." Sally looked over her papers. "His flight is KM40214. . . . He gets there at about four in the afternoon, that's all I know."
They both nodded, understanding. "Well, I have to leave you two now," She fumbled over some papers on her lap and terminated the connection. Heero reached for her hands and led her out of his room.
"Why are you wearing that jacket?" Relena asked, she looked at it with narrowing eyes.
"Because I want to," Heero informed her. They walked out of the house to the car.
"You know I hate it," Relena entered the driver's side and Heero sat behind her. The black cat's head shot up at the intruder of his space but simply growled.
Relena put the car on D and hit the gas pedal. The neared the gate some time after which only took a code from Heero. They were on the open road in no time.
"You know," Midii broke the silence. "You should tell me a little about the Gundam Pilots. I'm sure that I'll see them when we go to space."
"Okay," Relena smiled as she remembered something. "But, I want you to tell me a little about that cross you always wear." She glanced through her mirror to Midii, seeing the hesitation in her eyes. "Is it a deal?"
Midii only nodded slightly, she was still taken by surprise. She should have guessed that curiosity would win eventually.
"Alright," Relena fixed her eyes to the road in front of her. "There are four more pilots out of Heero. The only one that I haven't meet fully is the one called Wufei."
"He's Chinese isn't he?" Midii asked, the name gave out a nationality of those parts.
"Yes, his family came from China. His roots." Relena continued. "He's a full time worker of the Preventers with Sally. She's a doctor and had some involvement in the war. They've become really good friends, working together and things everyday."
"Anyway, Wufei was the pilot of Shenlong." Relena turned her gaze to Heero. "Am I correct Heero?" He nodded. "He has an attitude of men being stronger than women and weakness. He had been taught by the old ways of his culture, making it more understandable."
"Another pilot is Duo Maxwell, the pilot of Deathcite. He's a joker by heart and an American."
"Isn't Duo supposed to mean two?" Midii asked.
"Yes," replied Relena. "He lives on L2 with Hilde Schbieker. They both manage a salvage yard of metals found in space. I already told you about Hilde yesterday, both her and Duo are made for each other."
"Are they together?"
"I don't know. It's been a long time since I've talked to either of them. We'll see them when we pass through the L2 colony."
"How does he look like?"
"Haven't you ever seen a picture of the Gundam pilots?" Relena didn't hide the surprise from her voice.
"I've seen plenty of Heero and you in the papers and of others but I can't really remember." Midii placed hand on her temple. Her eyes drew together shut as a sharp pain tore through her. "This stupid headache isn't helping my memory."
"Did you take the pills today in the morning?" Heero questioned. Midii nodded, her pain diminishing.
"You sure you're alright?" Relena was preoccupied.
"Yes," Midii quickly replied. "It's just what Dr. Crowley had said. The headaches will come and go."
"Alright," Relena continued. "There's also Quatre Winner, the heir to the Winner's empire. He was the pilot of Sandrock, the 04 pilot." Relena changed to the left lane, her turn was about to come. "He has 29 sisters that are older than him and well, he has a lot of nieces and nephews."
"Who's the last pilot?"
"He's the one that is going to be with us on the visit through the colonies. He's a really nice guy once you get to know him but don't hold your breath. He talks less than the man you see in the backseat." Heero only snorted.
"Well, you can't say it's not true." Relena rolled her eyes at him.
"You could almost say that Trowa and Heero are brothers by the way they act and are," Relena smirked. "They look alike somehow, same hair color and things. He's taller I suppose and with a bundle of his hair falling onto one eye." Relena saw the look of dreaminess in Midii's eyes. "You'll see him for yourself in about six hours."
The car stopped in front a grand mall. Relena parked the car relatively close to the doors and she led them in. The cat bundled itself on Heero's arms before he could even protest. Relena and Midii laughed at his antics to get rid of it. "Don't try too hard Heero," Relena interrupted his struggle. "You don't really want him to get lost."
"This place is enormous," Midii took a sharp breath as she saw all of the departments. The people came and went from place to place and some just sat their selves on the benches and talked to each other.
"There's a lot of people, this being a Sunday." Relena pointed to a chain store on their right side. "This is the place we have to go first." The place was almost empty, only the clerk was to greet them.
"Hello," the girl greeted the three. "Do you need any help?"
"Yes," Relena turned to her and saw the light of recognition on the woman's eyes. "We need some formal suits for her." The woman's eyes diverted their selves toward Midii and looked at her up and down. From left to right taking in her physique.
"Yes, I see." She moved to the inside of the store and returned minutes later. "Is this what you're looking for?"
Relena took in the suit, it was simple. There was the jacket that went down to Midii's knees and a sleeveless white dress that also went to her knees. It had two straps that secured it to her shoulders. Relena smiled as she pushed Midii to the dressing room.
"Come out when you have it on," Relena smiled as the woman came back with other styles. One was a skirt with a blouse and a jacket, the other a pair of pants with a blouse and the jacket.
"I think that all of these are her size," the woman went into the dressing room and knocked on the door. "I have more for you to try."
Midii opened the door letting the woman enter. She signaled for her back, she needed help with the zipper of the dress. Madelin helped her with the jacket and accompanied her to the others. Relena grinned as she saw Midii come out of the dressing room. Midii walked around, letting her have a view of it in all directions. The jacket opened lightly at the knees to the waist when she walked revealing part of the simple dress.
"That's one of them," Relena said as she examined the suit. "You should take this one and just try the others for good measure. I'm sure that they fit you too."
Midii went back to the dressing room to try on the others as Relena talked to Madeline.
"Do you have these suits in many colors?"
"Yes," Madelin showed her to the inside in which all of the suits were drapped in their protective cases. "We have many of them and I'm sure that there's another color in which she looks good with. They rummaged through the stock selecting the colors that were good on Midii's frame.
Both of the girls came out with their hands full of suits. Each one was on their hanger, their texture untouched by any hands. They moved to the cashier's and passed them all. Midii came back with her usual clothes and with the three white suits in her hands.
"Are we taking these three?" she asked as she approached Relena.
"Yeah," she moved letting Midii see all of the suits that they were taking.
"Do we need that many?" she asked surprised by the quantity of suits that she saw there.
"Of course we do," Relena smiled at her surprise. "We'll be gone for a week and be in conferences for the whole time, what do you think we will be wearing?"
"I don't know, it's just that I've never seen this much suits for just one person," responded Midii.
"You should see my closet," the two women left Heero to pay for the things and take them to the car.
The rest of the day was spent by them walking from store to store buying T-shirts, short, skirt, shoes. . . the essential for any person. They stopped at 12:00 to buy some food to eat and continued with their shopping shortly after.
They stopped a little after 3 as Midii became lightheaded. She could barely keep herself standing and her head felt as if it was going to explode. They walked her to the car, the black cat silently followed not wanted to get stranded. This time, she sat on the back and Relena decided to just go to the airport and wait for Trowa's flight to come.
They arrived at the airport soon, Midii feeling a lot better than she had. She took another pill from the ones the doctor gave her and followed them. She didn't want them to feel worried for her.
Heero looked for the gate with Relena and Midii quickly following. They still had time, Trowa's flight wasn't going to arrive until after 4. The girls simply sat by the gate, resting their feet from all of the walking. Relena took the chance to get the deal out of Midii.
"Now, you have to tell me why you keep this cross." Midii looked at her and Heero who just looked away. There was no way to get out of this one.
Instinctively, Midii's hands came to the cross and held as if for strength. "It's very special to me because of who it was from."
Relena's eyes brightened as she heard that. "I'm taking the liberty to guess that it was a boy." Midii's cheeks reddened at her guess. "Bull's eye." Heero sat by Relena, she pulling his hand to hers and resting her head on his shoulder.
"So, how did you meet him?" asked Relena.
"It was on one of my spy missions when I was a little girl," Midii looked at her hands as she became shy of the subject. "He seemed rescued me in the forest in which an attack between the rebels and the faction had been made."
"How old was he?" Relena's curiosity interrupted her.
"The same age as I was, ten years old." Midii replied.
"He was that young and a member of the rebels group?" Relena's astonishment was noticed on her tone of voice.
"He was an orphan since he was little and the leader of the group took him in since he was a baby. He remained in that place until the whole group was killed." Her throat got dry and hoarse. "I killed the only people he ever knew as a family."
"That was your job," Relena tried to make her feel better.
"Yeah, a bitter experience that I kill the only family that the boy I cared for and loved had." She said bitterly. "He left me there alive, I would have felt better if he had killed me at that time." Midii fingered the cross and looked longingly at it. "He shoot the cross that I made for him as a thank you for saving my life and to keep him safe from the ambush. He broke it with the transmitter that hanged by my neck."
Relena and Heero exchanged glances. War was a bitter experience in which the weak were exploited to do things that weren't imaginable by others. The innocence of a young girl was used as a weapon to find and kill the existence of others for the struggle of power.
"He had the most intense green eyes I had ever seen," Midii slapped the tear away from her face. "I fell in love with those eyes. His hair did this funny thing in his face, a handful of bangs fell over one of his eyes, making it almost impossible for you to see it. I kept the cross because it reminded me of him. It reminds me of those things I had to do to maintain my family that in time hurt others for that."
"I'm sorry," Relena reached for her hand and put it over hers.
"I am too," Midii whispered as an announcement started on the speakers.
"Flight KM40214 will not arrive at it's usual time at 4:10 p.m. Do to rain clouds moving in. People boarding the plane toward their new destinations can come to the desk for more information on their flight and request new information. Thank you." The attendants voice stopped ending.
"It looks like we'll be waiting," Relena looked at Heero.
"I'll go see what's going on," he stood up and went to the information desk. Midii and Relena stayed quiet for the time he was gone. "It's going to be some time before he arrives." He sat back down by Relena again.
Midii's eyes started to water and close as she felt a numbness spread through her head. "What's wrong?" Relena asked concerned.
"I don't know," her hand came to her temple. "I feel all lightheaded now." She groaned as she felt her head throb and throb. "I think I'm about to pass out."
Relena looked at Heero in concern. "Did you take a pill?"
"Just some minutes ago," Midii took a deep breath and released it just as slowly. "They are supposed to make you drowsy until they take in full effect but my head is killing me."
"I think that you should be going home Midii," Relena stood up. "Heero, you stay here and call a cab after Trowa's flight actually arrives. I'll take Midii back to the mansion on the car." Before he could argue, she kissed him on the cheek and gently started to move Midii toward the parking area.
"You'll feel al better after you get home and sleep," Relena talked to her to get her to relax. By her expression, the pain was getting into her last boundaries.
Relena unlocked the car from afar and put Midii on the seat. She closed the door after the cat settled in. She moved to the other side and entered he vehicle. She started the engine and zoomed out of the airport to the road home. Midii closed her eyes, letting sleep overcome her.

Heero waited patiently as the stewardess told him of the delay. The plane wouldn't be arriving for another hour. Just waiting for things to happen got Heero into a coma. Grumbling to himself, he got his cell phone and phoned Relena. They had to be still in the car. He'd call to the car phone.
Relena heard the phone installed on the car ring and ring. Without taking her eyes out of the road, she searched blindingly through the compartments to find it. The ringing was sure to wake up Midii who was sound asleep on her seat. The medicine had to be a powerful sedative to get someone to sleep like that. She may have to have a talk with Susan about those pills. She may even take them herself.
She found the phone by her seat and hurriedly turned it on. Heero's voice came from it. "Are you there yet?"
"Yeah," Relena watched her rearview mirror. "I'm about to turn up on the gate. How about Trowa?"
"His plane won't be arriving for another hour," she heard the constrict of Heero's tone.
"Well, I'll call you after I get Midii fixed up in her room." Relena stole a glance at her sleeping form. "She looks exhausted. Partly my fault." She sighed and shrugged. "Talk to you later."
Relena turned off the phone and stopped the car in front of the gates. She entered the code to enter the house and put her hand for the fingerprint scan. It had been genius of Heero to install that system. The gates opened their selves and Relena set out to go all the way through the driveway to the front door. She'd need some help in getting Midii upstairs.
Heero looked back and forth as the plane finally arrived. He was waiting for Trowa to appear any minute but it seemed that the passengers weren't making any efforts to get out of the plane quickly. After being at the airport for more than an hour and a half, he couldn't wait to get a car and drive back to the mansion. Relena had called sometime before saying that Midii was at her bedroom sleeping. She had talked to Susan and found out that the sleepiness could restore most of the energy making her sleep for many hours.
That was one thing that he didn't have to preoccupy himself with. Now, if Trowa would only get out of the plane, he could even go to the car rental part of the airport and rent a car until tomorrow when they would take off. Knowing that he had almost more than an hour, Heero had taking the liberty to check on the flight for Relena tomorrow and the shuttle. He had to be alert and doing a once over today was going to speed things up tomorrow.
Heero regained attention of the line as more people came out of the plane. Trowa walked out of the door with a suitcase on his hands. He stopped in front of Heero a silent greeting coming between them.
"Isn't Relena here?" He asked as Heero directed him to the car rentals.
"She had to leave to the mansion," Heero answered as they went to a desk. Heero handled the matter as Trowa waited patiently.
His whole flight had been spent in him thinking of what had happened just the night before. He knew better than to believe in those kind of things but still, his mind clouded on some of the important clues. Most importantly, he thought of her. Just closing his eyes, he relived the time in which he had found her.
He couldn't help but wonder what had happened to her. Had she died in the war or was she still alive? Had she given up spying for a living? He doubted knowing that it was the only way for her to support her father and little brothers. If she was alive, where could she be? He couldn't help but think of seeing her again one day. Her eyes looked at him in his thoughts and dreams. He just hoped that she could still remember him.
The ride back to the mansion was done in silence. Heero drove the car as Trowa only looked in front of him to the landscape and the road. He cherished the quiet moments in the presence of his friends. He considered Heero and the other pilots almost like family. He and Heero understood each other real well. They could have been the same inside and out or are. Same characteristics and.. His thoughts died there as he remembered how he had compared Midii to Relena when he meet her.
He shock his heads out of his thoughts. After he and Heero got to the mansion they were going to discuss the matters that couldn't have been over the phone of the computer. Tomorrow, he and Heero would be thrown out into the wolf's forest and they knew it. Thinking of what Lady Une had sent him to his database made his thoughts run at extremely speed. He had to be careful. Really careful.
Relena greeted him as they stopped in front of the front door. Heero continued his stay in the car to take it to the garage. He had to drive the car back to the airport tomorrow. Relena made sure that he was in his room before running him down the stairs to the dining room to eat dinner. She was always glad to see him and the other Gundam Pilots when she ever got the chance.
It had been pretty quiet and without consent until Heero had asked on `How is she doing?' That made me wonder of who they were talking about. Then, I remembered what Relena had said when I had called. That there was a surprise waiting for all of us at the mansion. It seemed that it was a girl of who they were talking about.
"She's sleeping," Relena answered noting the questioning gaze that Trowa sent her way. "The pills are strong, and Susan said that she could sleep until midnight."
Leaving it alone knowing that they would talk to him eventually, Trowa continued his normal doings for tomorrow. Even if they wouldn't get a good night sleep, the shuttle flight was going to give them plenty of time to get caught up with some of the sleep.

12:45 p.m.
Midii's eyes opened to the comfort of the bed of her room. It seemed that Relena and Heero had taken her back to the mansion after her fainting spell. She grumbled as she remembered that she hadn't eaten anything at all. Her stomach grumbled as she glanced at the clock indicating the scandalous hour that she had sleep through.
She was hungry and slept through dinner. Plus, her dreams had plagued her most of the time. Looking around the room, she noticed that there was a sandwich on her nightstand and a drink. Hungrily, she ate the sandwich and drank the lemonade which was warm because of the time.
After finishing her midnight snack, Midii made her way to the kitchen of the house. She noticed on the way over that she had been changed into the night gown that she and Relena had bought that day. Correction, yesterday. Blindly she made it to the kitchen and turned on the light which flashed in her eyes.
She staggered forward as she made her way toward the fridge to the water. Setting a glass of it, she felt better as it settled down and her eyes accustomed to the light. She knew that it was going to take a miracle to get her to go to sleep any time soon.
Midii filled the glass of water again and took it up to her room after she turned off the lights and went back to her room. She set it up on her night stand and moved herself toward the balcony. The moonlight made it's way through the curtains of it gaining her attention.
She settled herself quietly beside the rail, wishing for a chair for herself. Then, her thoughts went back to the dreams she had as she slept. They weren't any different from anything else that she had before. She with him being the star roles of the representation of the nightmare that had been her life. She hoped to have a better way now that she had found Relena.
Wondering through her mind was a soft melody that she remembered hearing a lot. Not really paying attention, she started to hum if softly trying to remember the words that way.
"Let me sleep..." she murmured to herself as she started to remember the words. She mostly hummed as she remembered the words coming back as she repeated the melody.
"Let me sleep, For when I sleep ..."

Trowa moved through the gardens in front of the mansion as he hoped to clear his mind out of his thoughts. Midii seemed to cloud his mind and his notion of everything around him lately. He could barely do something without having her in his mind.
He wondered through the night's fresh air that was taking a cold gesture because of the autumn settling in. Moving through the back gardens of the house, he saw a light come to one of the balconies. He wondered if it was Relena, Heero or the mysterious friend that seemed to be staying there.
Unconsciously, out of habit, he moved through the shadows of the trees. The moonlight casting his shadow when he revealed himself out of the trees concealment.
A figure appeared on one of the balconies. Out of the outline, he could make out the shape of a woman and not a man rationing out Heero. He advanced toward the balcony as he continued to examine the outlined person. She seemed distracted as she looked at the moon as if to make some kind of intimate contact with it. Her lips moved as if she was talking to herself.
Still fixed on her face, Trowa continued to move toward the balcony. As he neared further, he could make out the words in a soft melody. She seemed to be singing to herself and to the moon. Something about her seemed familiar to him. Her features reminded him of a scared little girl with pale blond hair and hopeful eyes. He caught the words that she was humming to her breath.
I'll hide beneath the clouds
And whisper to the evening star
He itched further as he caught that she skipped some words. She seemed remembering them as she closed her eyes. "Dream away, I'll dream away." The light reflected on her background made her figure outlined from the rest of the balcony. "So let the moon, Shine softly on the boy I long to see. And maybe when he dreams, He'll dream of me."
His eyes fixed on her completion and his mind started to work with her face, her voice. His mind remembered as it placed her face in the one stored at his memory. It was her. She was here, now. Right above him staring at the stars and the full moon. "Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh."
"Dream of me," she sang the last note with hopefulness. Sighing, she turned from the full moon, a sniff escaping her retreating figure. She closed the door slowly after her, turning off the outside light.
Did I just imagine this? Trowa didn't know what to think. That woman had looked exactly like her figure. Her blond hair, her expression, her voice. But, it couldn't be true.
Shaking his head, he made his way around the house to the door in which he had come down on. He was now seeing her wherever he went.
Just who was that visitor that Relena and Heero had talked about? Could it possibly be that the mysterious visitor was Midii? Was she back into his life? Was she even alive? Why ponder on the impossible.
Pondering on the unanswered questions, Trowa retired for the night.
Tomorrow would bring answers.

* * *
