Chapter #12: The First Battle

The night was quiet, a bit breezy but good. Mandy was fast asleep in her room when suddenly a glow erupted from her table, her watch, the one Wolf Zero gave her was pulsating in a green glow; it was beeping like an alarm clock. Mandy perked up and reached over to her night-stand for the watch, flicking the time display open she pressed one of the buttons there, "Wolf Zero this better be important," she muttered half-sleepily. "Mistress, it is important, Wing Zero said he overheard two aliens are planning on raiding the Chicago car factory for metals, and that is no part of the agreement," the wolf gundam replied trough the comlink, it was a bit fuzzy considering the gundam was behind tons of limestone, but Mandy heard her loud and clear. "You want us to get over there?" Mandy asked, she threw the covers aside and sat up, slipping her feet into the slippers she made a hasty move to the room next door, "Yes, Wing Zero says it is best to stop them, he says his Zero System is uneasy, it doesn't trust the aliens," Wolf Zero replied. "I got you big girl," Mandy replied. Wolf Zero cut the comlink and Mandy dumped the watch in her pocket.

Mandy slipped into Jessica's room, "Hey! Jess wake up! Wing Zero says we have to get down to the cave now! The aliens are stealing metal." She said. Jessica woke up groggily, "Have you been in the sugar again? How can you know? The gundams are not here," she death-glared her friend, even in the dark her eyes shone in almost cat-like glow. Mandy flicked out a device, "This is the communicator Wolf Zero gave me, she heard Wing Zero talk about it, the other gundams are worried too," she explained. "Ok fine, get the other girls… I'll get the guys," Jessica got up and straightened her pajama top and gulped, venturing into the guy's place up in the attic was a bad idea, especially when they were asleep.

She reached the droop-down attic stairs and grabbed the cord to lower them, the stairs lowered and she made the steps up, barely peaking over the rim of the attic floor to check whether anyone was awake. What she saw made her grin, she could see Heero and Quatre asleep, Heero looked so relaxed in his sleep, she almost hated having to wake him up. Scanning the vicinity of his bed for his gun she came to the conclusion it would be under his pillow, so the girl crept closer to him, "Heero… wake up!" she whispered, hoping that he was a light sleeper and would jolt awake without shooting her head off in the process. Heero only stirred.

Jessica neared again, "Heero," she spoke out loud. At that the perfect soldier jumped awake, "What do you want?" he asked coldly. "Bury the ego wise-ass, Wolf Zero contacted Mandy by the communicator she gave her. Wing Zero says it's intercepted alien communications, they are going to raid the car factory nearby for parts, he wonders if we should stop them," Jessica's voice woke up Quatre and Trowa, both were looking her way, Wufei and Duo however remained asleep, and Duo didn't appear to be waking up any time soon. Heero mused all of this over, "This is really not our fight, but… they could hurt humans in the process, we will need to look around," Jessica nodded at him and turned to go, by her way she glanced at Trowa and immediately looked away, seining him with no shirt on, wasn't what she wanted to see now. The girl made her way down the stairs in record-breaking speed. The guys watched her go and exchanged looks; Heero immediately went to waking up the baka a bed over.

Jessica meanwhile went to her room to change, she could feel her cheeks burning and she blessed the dark attic, the last thing she wanted was someone to say her blush simply because she looked at Trowa. As she slipped into something comfortable that would allow her to pilot, her mind strayed to that moment, she cursed her cat-like vision, 'Got to admit, he has a nice body,' she grinned to herself as she tied her hair in a braid. Grabbing her Cell she typed in Katie's number, it was her cell phone that she kept with her at all times.

They met downstairs, the guys were ready to go and they sneaked out, by their way they dropped by Katie's, just in time to see the girl skillfully climb out her window, walk across the narrow awning of the second story and acrobatically jump down to the first floor landing in a crouch, soundlessly. So soon Heero was doing a clean one hundred miles down the empty streets, as they rushed to the cave. Wolf Zero was telling them that Wing Zero was becoming agitated, the gundam could sense something, and he didn't share it with anyone.

At the factory, the late night shift was terrified, the aliens just showed up in their craft and were now openly packing metal into their crafts, and the holds were gigantic. Already they have loaded a metric ton and they didn't appear to be satisfied. One of the aliens has rounded up the humans on a rooftop, and kept them at laser-gun-point. "I told you these aliens were up to no good… you give them freedom and this is what you get, they come and steal our precious metals, and for what? Dry fuel cells and hyper speed carriers? I say they can keep their technology, our little planet was better without them," one worker stated to the other. The other worked nodded, "Now I see them for what they truly are, I wish more people were as wise as to realize these aliens are up to no good," the other worker replied. "Quiet humans!" one alien barked at them.

More alien craft arrived when the aliens contacted the mother ship and said they found more metal for the taking, more then they could carry. Now there were five cargo ships, and five war-ships guarding the ships. The guards were talking between each other when suddenly their sensory began to blip, "Hey there is something approaching, oh… it vanished. Damned atmosphere, they have so much pollution here that it causes sensory blips," one of the guards muttered to the other, he was as much as bored down here as he was bored with the organics, the general sent him only because he was of lower rank.

Some distance off, the ten gundams were watching the scene, "Look at those little craft, they look like fighter craft, I don't like this," Katie said, eyeing the little black craft that had barrels of laser guns sticking from the sides. They reminded her of Phoenix in Jet form, but they were smaller and in no way as grand and multicolored as Phoenix was. "We can't open fire on them to destroy, maybe cripple, but not destroy," Heero spoke up over the silence stretching between the pilots. "I would agree with that, but if we were to open any fire on them, they may take it the wrong way and open fire on us, and I don't think those laser guns have 'mild' settings," Phoenix spoke, "I don't want them to scratch my paint," it added.

"Hey how about we just scare them?" Duo asked. "We still have to stop them from getting the metal, if we scare them, chances are they will take off with the metal," Katie raised a vital point. "Mistress, I think I can freeze those landing struts to the ground, my liquid nitrogen can probably do it," Absolute Zero said privately to Sage. "They have hostages," Wing Zero spoke, he finished his perimeter scan, and he saw that the aliens held the factory workers as hostages. "Good aliens my ass! I knew there was something wrong about them from day one," Jessica said in her usual cocky way. Heero finally figured out the best plan to attack, "Duo… you can scare them if you want. Jessica, Amber I will need you covering the air, if they try to take off, you have the permission to open fire, Trowa, Katie you two have to be their backup. The others will join me, we will surround the factory and prevent escape that way."

Phoenix flipped out its hyper jammers and cloaked, and vanished, like a desert mirage. Tempest Hurricane went to find the best spot from where it could keep the yard under a watchful eye. She saw the others take positions.

Back at the yard, the aliens were finishing up the loading when suddenly one of the cargo craft began to burn; it exploded in a fireball, sending sparks of fire everywhere. The aliens ran to their shuttle but were stopped when in the fire suddenly a form appeared, spreading giant demonic wings; it was just an aura of a giant humanoid machine, with huge wings. The air was suddenly pierced by a pair of green eyes as the machine full decloaked, reaching behind it's back, Deathscythe drew it's scythe and twirled it, the blade extending smoothly.

The aliens ran to the crafts but didn't get far, behind the factory, out of the shadows, Wing Zero emerged, Absolute Zero behind it. "Alright go!" Heero told Sage over the comlinks. Absolute Zero took off, canons sliding out of their hiding places within it shoulders. It landed by the cargo craft and suddenly began to splay a clear liquid that looked like water, but it wasn't water, when it came in contact with the craft, ice formed over them as the Nitrogen froze the craft to the concrete floor, leaving them glimmering in the flickering flames of the shuttle.

The fighters rose, pointing their laser guns at the gundams the other gundams emerged as well. Between the two craft, Phoenix decloaked, it's arms spread out wide, it promptly blasted fire at the two craft, causing them to swivel away, they turned around and fired at the gundam. Jessica, with the Zero System saw it coming, and effortlessly avoided the blast, the two craft ended up destroying each other, Phoenix's laughter echoed on everyone's comlinks.

Tempest Hurricane appeared from between the factory's smokestacks, raising it's arm the gundam let loose the claws mounted on its arm, the metal claw latched unto one fighter, and the gundam pulled it close. Before anyone could react sparks of electricity erupted from the base of the claw wire, they raced across the wire and into the claw, the fighter erupted in flames and plummeted, the claw meanwhile retracted back into it's launcher.

"That's a shock they will never forget," Mandy joked. "Heads up, I hear sirens!" Jessica warned. Phoenix landed and folded its large wings neatly. Another fighter veered away from the group and pointed it's laser canons at the roof of the factory, the humans there froze. HellRaiser made a step closer; it's shoulder-mounted missile silos uncovered. But instead of launching a firestorm of missiles, the gundam only let loose three, they impacted the fighter in the engines, and it plummeted unto the ground where upon impact it exploded.

A few police cars and fire trucks raced into the yard, immediately screeching to a halt, before them stood ten giant machines, the humans, although aware there were aliens that were robots, didn't come prepared to see ten giants, especially one with four giant gantling guns on it's arms.

The remaining aliens made a hasty get-away, let that incident be blamed on those ten, "What are god mechas doing here?" one asked the other. "Fool! Those are not god mechas! Haven't you sensory picked up that each one of them had a organic inside?" the other barked. "No," the first replied. "Well these organics have crossed the line, first they attack us, and now they harness our image, the general will like this, it is the perfect opportunity to wipe a whole lot of them for those," the other said. The first alien smile, "Oh yea… Organic massacre, I like the idea of that," he replied, both laughed, or what sounded like laughter considering they were mechanoids.

The gundams meanwhile took off, not wanting to associate with the police about now, "That was easy, no damage," Jessica muttered. "My ice tanks are empty, where will I get that much intensified nitrogen?" Sage wondered. "I'm sleepy," Katie mumbled. "I wonder if Amber's folks noticed we were gone," Mandy asked. "If they did… I'm dead," Amber replied. "One less onna to worry about," Wufei muttered, he was displeased with having to get up in the middle of night. "Well, they wont only kill Amber, they will probably kick you five unto the street," Katie sounded cool, but everyone could see a glint of mischief in her eyes. "Alright, let's fly, we got school tomorrow," Jessica added, Phoenix shot ahead and transformed into a jet and flew ahead of them.

Up at the mother ship, the two aliens docked with and reported to the general. "Well? Where's the metal?" he asked. "Um… Sir... we encountered a problem, figures these pathetic humans had technology they forgot to mention, ten giant God Mechas, but they aren't sentient, they are piloted by organics," one alien began. "GOD MECHAS? How dare they… what happened to the squad of fighters I sent down there?" the general asked, eying his men in distrust. The other alien slumped his head, "Destroyed, utterly destroyed by those god mechas," he said. The general thought about it, "I want you to find them and take down thirty fighters. Destroy those god mechas before the king finds out about them, or else we may not ever take over this planet." the two aliens nodded, "Yes sir," they left the room leaving the general to think for himself. "God Mechas… these humans don't know what they are getting into, they can never win thirty fighters, this will be fun to watch… yes, fun indeed…"

Author Notes: Once again rushed, but I think it came out ok… the plot is just unwinding!
