Fighting Demons

Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Wing or any of its characters. I do own two GW DVDs and a Deathscythe Hell action figure though…

Pairings: the usual… 121 and 343… poor Wufei… all alone

Warnings/classifications: the usual… AU, shonen-ai, not sure of the rest yet…

Author's notes: Well…. I'm not exactly sure where the idea for this came from… I was watching LOTR: ROTK, in the hope I'd get some inspiration for Lord of the Things, but instead I decided to quit writing LOTT (at least for now), since it has become more of a parody than a serious story, and start a new LOTR fic. The idea began as a fic with a quest in it (definitely LOTR-ish), and that the princes of the kingdoms have to go to defeat some evil creature; then I thought 'Hey, wouldn't it be nice to let 'em have special powers?' and somehow I ended up at a story-idea totally different from what I'd started… Maybe I was inspired a bit by an incredibly stupid book, Hyperion, too. I didn't like the book from the start, but I wanted to know how it ended. And guess what? THE BOOK DIDN'T EVEN HAVE AN END! >.< Just when the blood shed and the action was about to begin, THE STORY JUST STOPPED! That was SO evil! And there wasn't even a sequel, so that author had NO REASON at all to quit at that unholy point! Uh… excusez-moi… I got carried away a bit I guess…….. -grins sheepishly-

"blah" speaking
'blah' thinking

Well, I hope you'll like it! Please review if you do! (Or if you don't, but keep it polite please!)

So mewhere, in a country far, far away… was a prophecy about a creature, unthinkably evil. His arrival would be heralded by the appearance of the Five; five people with special powers, namely control over Air, Water, Earth and Fire, and the connecting element Ether.

And now, the Five have appeared.

The prophecy tells us that the monster can only be defeated, when the Five have learned to co-operate and to unite their powers…

------

The five most powerful sorcerers of Tenebrae [1] were sitting around the table, talking with lowered voices. No one knew their names, for they were always referred to by single letters. The room had no windows in order to keep the chances of people eavesdropping on them to a minimum. The only light came from a few candles, the faces of the sorcerers were hardly visible.

"We'll have to act soon," the sorcerer, referred to as G, said.

The other four nodded in agreement.

"The Five have been located, have they not?" a man with long, grey hair and a pointy beard asked.

"Yes. Now the only question remaining, is how we can get their parents to let them come with us."

The bold sorcerer shook his head. "That will be difficult indeed. We cannot tell their parents the real reason, for we don't want panic to rule the country."

"Maybe we should just tell the boys what's about to happen, and then take them with us without notifying their parents, only leaving a note or something," a sorcerer with a black moustache suggested.

They thought about this for a while, the room went quiet. Suddenly master O, the bold sorcerer, spoke: "We could fake their deaths, that would save a lot of speculation about their disappearances."

This idea earned him an appreciative nod from the man with the misshapen nose. Years ago, a panicking cat had attacked him, scratching his face and thus severely damaging his nose. Most of the time, S covered his face with a cloak, trying to hide his face from view, but now, in the presence of his co-sorcerers, he had lowered his cloak.

The other three sorcerers considered this plan too, and after a couple of minutes, they all agreed that this was the best course of action. It would be the least suspicious.

"Why don't we tell each other about our apprentices?" J asked, glancing at the others. "I think it would be wise for us to know as much as we can about all five of them."

H nodded. "Good idea. I'll start, if you don't mind."

As the others nodded that he could commence, the black-moustached sorcerer began. "My apprentice is Quatre Raberba Winner. He's the only son in a family with fifteen children [2] and controls the element Water. Although he may seem innocent and naive, he's very intelligent and is willing to sacrifice everything, including his own life, for that which he believes in."

Then master O, their leader, spoke about his pupil. "My apprentice is Chang Wufei. He's the controller of Fire, and has - I have to admit - a kind of explosive temperament. He's very keen on justice, so I don't think we'll have problems convincing him of the necessity of joining us."

"My apprentice is Heero Yuy, who controls the element Air. It wasn't difficult locating him, the only thing I had to do was going to the place where most storms were signalled." A look of amusement was on J's face when he said this. "Every time something angered him, he caused a storm. But he can control his abilities now; I've been training him for the past nine years, and he has developed a huge self-control. He'll do everything to complete a task, so after we've got him to join our cause, he won't fail us."

After a glance in G's direction, who didn't seem willing to talk about his apprentice yet, S began to speak. "My apprentice is Trowa Barton, son of a nobleman. He controls the element Earth. He is able to communicate with animals, and is a very good observer, both of nature as of the human race."

Finally G spoke up: "My apprentice is the controller of the element that binds the other four together, Ether. That's why I waited until you all told about your pupils. His name is Duo Maxwell, and I suppose one could call him a bit weird. Ever since he saw his elder brother Solo drown in the river, he's fascinated with death. He's always wearing a black cape and instead of with a sword, he fights with a scythe. He's very good at it though. He also dislikes silence, so be warned! He talks a lot and in spite of his past experiences, he's not depressed or bitter, but very cheerful and easy-going.

"Unlike the four of you, I didn't locate him until a few months ago. Ether is much harder to notice than the other elements, for it is not directly visible. But I don't think his lack of education will be a problem. He's a fast learner and besides, I couldn't teach him very much without the other four elements present."

After some talking about the precise details of how they were going to get the Five here, the sorcerers left to their respective quarters, to pack their stuff in order to be ready to leave the next morning.

[1] Tenebrae is Latin for 'darkness'. I loooooove Latin! Especially since my exam went very well, above all expectations. :) Soooo, I think you might encounter some more Latin in this ficcie /insert smilie/

[2] I thought 30 was a bit too much. :P

I know it's a bit short… but I thought this was a good point to stop. Hehe, the Author's notes etc. are probably longer than the actual fic -grins sheepishly-. The G-boys will appear in the next chappie! And it's gonna be really cool! (I hope -insert smilie- ARGH! o.O it's SO annoying that FF.net cuts out all smilies etc!)

And, tell me: should I continue? Advice, ideas, comments & criticisms are always welcome! Please review! You'd make me an extremely happy person by doing that! :)
