It was the middle of October and it snowed like it was the end of November. And Heero and I had to go and get groceries. Damn Quatre and his "We need healthy food"-speech! *I* could live off perfectly by chocolate bars and pretzels and the other stuff I brought back home from my last visit at Wally's home.
And those guys didn't trust me to get something other than that so they sent Mr. Ice Block with me, making sure that I'd get them what they wanted. Yay.
I made a face as I stepped outside into the cold, wrapping my precious cashmere muffler further around ma neck and pulled the cap deeper into my face. Luckily I went no where without my precious items after this time I had to stay in Montana at the beginning of March, I mused and punched my fists deeper into the pockets of my coat. I guess I have to thank Quatre that he makes sure that all kinds of clothing items are at the safe-houses he owns, but hell, I'm still pissed off that he sent me out into this shit of weather.
From out of the little space that was left for breathing and looking around, I glanced at my silent companion. Heero was his usual self, cold annoying, matching the weather perfectly. He wasn't wearing or a cap of some sort and I bet he would have gone out without the coat that Q-ball had handed him as well. He looked around, glaring at various snowflakes that came in his way of glaring at other people. Like me for example.
I sighed, exhaling my breath in a cloud right in front of us as I walked on, wondering if Heero was even capable of feeling the cold around us. For somebody who's favorite clothes were only sufficient for a climate in the near of the equator it *had* to be too cold right here, right now. I think I would have died if I wore jeans, a turtleneck and a coat! And he was only looking straight ahead, as if this was a day like every other, the cold seemingly affecting him not the slightest bit.
"Good thing that the groceries is just around the corner, ne Heero?"
"Hn."
"Geez, you could be a little more talkative, ya know?"
"Hn."
"Yeah, right, I know."
Was it just me or didn't he want to talk to me? I looked at him as we walked, looked at him closely, searching for any sign of distress. And to my great surprise, I found one!
As he kept glaring straight forward, I could see jaws working, as if he was gritting his teeth. And I *swear* that you could hear then chattering if he didn't do that. I blinked, he blinked, snowflakes getting caught into his lashes and he growled as he kept glaring at the little white flakes that kept getting caught in his bangs, no matter how often he tried to get them away. As he started to shake his head like a dog who got caught in the rain, I couldn't help but snicker. Probably not one of best ideas, but he was just too cute.
"D-D-Duo..."
I clapped my gloved hand over my mouth as he started to stutter because of his chattering teeth in a futile attempt to stop me from bursting out into laughter. But absolutely in vain.
"O-o-oma-ma-mae... o... k-k-k-k-k-korossssssu!"
I stopped walking and if somehow possible I laughed even harder. I almost fell over as I held my stomach while Heero just stood there, jaws closed tightly shut again and his fists clenched in his pockets. And the unmerciful snow that kept getting caught in his hair, a beginning pout and you get one of the cutest pictures I could imagine when thinking about Heero Yuy and snow.
He waited, shuddering more the longer I laughed until I had mercy with him and handed him my precious scarf.
"B-b-b-b-but..."
"Don't even try to say something," I interrupted him, starting to snicker again. Instead of explaining my actions I wrapped my braid around my neck, getting it out from underneath the coat. I had put it there because I didn't want to get it soaked and cold by the snow. Now it made a pretty thick and good replacement for my precious cashmere scarf that Heero was still holding in his hands, as if it was some kind of oddity.
I sighed and took it back in my hands, wrapping it quickly and thoroughly around Heero's ice-cold neck.
"There you are. Ain't that much better?"
He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but his teeth were still chattering. So he closed it quickly and just nodded. And at that particular moment I noticed how we were standing together and how beautiful the snow looked as it got caught into the dark brown strands that started clinging to Heero's face because of the moisture of those little flakes. One managed to land right on the tip of Heero's nose, making him wiggle his face funnily.
I noticed him raise his hand, but I was quicker. I tilted my head forward and kissed his pointed nose, effectively melting the snowflake and catching the moisture on his lips. I smiled as I backed away.
"Snowflakes taste good. You should go and catch some," I said with a smile and looked up to the sky, sticking my tongue out. I felt the cold crystals drop on it and I smiled as I noticed that Heero looked at me quizzically first and then started imitating me.
I smiled some more as I stopped catching snowflakes for the sake of watching Heero. And once again he surprised me how cute and innocent the Perfect Soldier could look when he was doing pretty normal teenage stuff. Well, and that was pretty much the reason why I kissed him. I'd never *dare* to kiss him when he did the stuff he was trained to do, but at times like this I didn't need to hide my love for the Japanese boy.
I watched a bit more how Heero tried to catch snowflakes openmouthed. He was so cute, it made me smile, feeling so much love inside me that I forgot the cold completely.
Maybe one day I will be allowed to kiss the snowflakes from Heero's lips.
Owari!
