Chapter 12
Where the Heart Is
It didn't take much longer to pack up the apartment and give away the furniture to the other tenants. Not that the landlord was to happy about that, his greedy self was looking forward to renting that apartment out as furnished. Dollars signs faded from sight for him. When they got back home they found that Heero and Duo had moved in with Malcom and Kyle. The new guys loved the house but got so lonely living out there all by themselves. Wufei spent the rest of his time off with Trowa and Quatre in their own room in the Jones-Stone house. It was one such afternoon that an odd occurrence happened.
Just after lunch one Thursday all heads turned towards the front door as someone decided to pound their way through it. Gun in one hand and Gundam pilots as backup, Kyle opened the door and came face to face with the ugliest and fattest man he had ever seen.
“Can I help you?”
The man grunted and heaved, apparently all that knocking tired him out. “What…are…you doing…in the … house?!” The man braced himself against the door frame, struggling to get his breath back.
“Well lets see,” Kyle crossed his arms, keeping the hand holding the gun unblocked. “We just finished lunch and were probably going to go out back. Why, what business is it of yours?”
“This house belongs to my family, you stole it!” *Heave* “How the hell did you get in?”
Duo snapped his fingers. “I knew those eyebrows looks familiar. He must be related to Dorothy.” Heero shudder, god and he thought they looked bad on her.
The man frowned, “You know Dorothy?”
Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Or in this case she. Everyone turned to look as Dorothy's car pulled up in the driveway. She waited for the driver to open her door before she approached the group.
“Ah Billy-boy, I have been looking for you.” She moved past him and kissed Wufei on the cheek. “It's nice to see you back love.” She chuckled as Trowa frowned playfully and yanked his lover to his side.
“How did you know I left?”
“Darling I know everything.”
“Dorothy explain yourself!” The man's face reddened as he was ignored.
“Cousin you need to calm down.” Her eyes swept over him from feet to face. “I see you have been using your new gym to the best of use.” Malcom and Duo grinned before their lovers leaped to cover their mouths before whatever they were thinking could come out. “Now what's your issue now I do have things to do today?”
“Why are these people living in this house?” he demanded, stomping his pudgy foot on the ground causing Heero to crack a smile.
“Isn't that what one usually does in a house?” Dorothy asked, cocking her head to the side, a confused expression on her face.
“Cut that out, you know damn well what I mean!”
“They bought it.”
The man frowned. “They would never have been able to afford it. This mansion has a history and idealistic location. Its worth millions of dollars!”
Malcom and Kyle's mouth dropped. They knew they had gotten a hell of a deal the first time around but damn. Dorothy grinned, as evil gleam in her eyes.
“Don't worry Billy-boy I'm sure they appreciate your concern for their well-being but as they are friends of mine I felt justified to give them a good deal.”
The man tugged his tie away from his sweating face. Damn it this house was suppose to be his. All his friends and business partners preferred coming here to conduct work and relax. “How, ah, how good a deal?”
“Oh lord I can't remember the original amount, it must have been somewhere in the 3 hundreds I think.” She caught the calming expression on his face and added, “that's thousands of course dear not millions.” The others watched in freakish fascination as the man chocked and gasped, his fat hands jerking his shirt away from his throat, his face getting all the redder.
“Oh don't worry Billy-boy I didn't really give it to them at that amount, it was just the first offer on the table.”
The man's shoulders slumped. Wheezing he pulled out his handkerchief and mopped his sweaty face. “Of course, of course you didn't sell it for such an ridiculously insane amount.”
Dorothy studied her fingernail, pulling out a nail file and attacked her pinkie. “I sold it for a dollar and got a fantastic tax write off.” The group watched dumb-struck as the man's eyes rolled up and he fell backwards in a faint. Wufei grabbed Quatre as the earth moved.
“Oh Billy-boy you haven't been using the gym have you?” Dorothy spun on her heels and gave them all a big smile. “Well this is a hi and bye, gotta go things to do.” She kissed their cheeks and began to walk away, smiling as the man's driver struggled to sit the reviving man up.
“Oh by the way Billy-boy.” She waited until she got his full attention. “You have till the end of the week to move out of your house. I've donated the building to the new SPCA that's relocation here. After all gotta help the little one's two.”
“But…but…but today's Thursday!”
“Well then you've better get moving. But don't worry about your wife getting in the way, she won't be there. Seems some how someone sent her pictures of you and your *ahem* female clients at the resort. Don't worry I doubt she'll take everything in the divorce.”
*THUMP* The man fell back to the ground trapping his driver part way under him.
“Well my job here's done, later boys!” As she walked off they could overhear her saying “damn but I have wanted to stick it to him for years.” With a flick of her wrist she was back in the car and it drove off, disappearing down the drive way. Meanwhile the driver managed to escape his prison and got the man dumped into the backseat in a sprawl. He tipped his hat to them before climbing behind the wheel and driving off.
The seven men stood in the doorway until the tail-lights faded from sight.
“Okay, what the hell just happened?”
Epilogue
The new task force was a success. Malcom and Kyle's experience with drug lords and Wufei's operations experience blended successfully and many a cartel faced serious trouble as supply lines were cut, high ranking members disappeared and cartels began to fall. It wasn't to long until Heero and Duo transferred over to join in the fun. The department soon became highly decorated with a 98% closure rate.
A year had passed before too long and the Gundam Pilots found themselves guests to Kyle and Malcom's wedding. The garden were it was held was filled by relatives, friends and all the members of the Drug and Weaponry Units of the Preventers. Commander Une looked so proud she could have been mistaken for a proud mama giving her baby away.
After the newlyweds took off for their honeymoon and the guest cleared out, Trowa and Quatre led Wufei out onto the back porch. A blanket was spread out on the grass complete with picnic basket. The starry night sky cast a romantic atmosphere on the setting. Wufei reclined against Trowa as Quatre fed him grapes, letting his fingers rest briefly on his lips.
“We love you Wufei, with all our hearts.” Quatre gave him the softest and sweetest kiss he had ever known.
“We don't want this to end ever.” He reached back into the basket and brought out a case and opened it, displaying the three gold rings it held.
“Will you marry us?”
Wufei looked up into their eyes and said the only thing that he could, “YES!”
