Chapter 1

How does one hide a pregnancy, you ask? With the right wardrobe, you can get away with it for at least three or four months. Sure, my face was fuller than before and my trademark suits had been traded in for loose fitting dresses, but people contributed it to stress. One doesn't go from simple school girl, to Queen of the World and finally Vice Foreign Minister without a few sleepless nights. But my body was slowly betraying me and I was putting on weight at a substantial rate. The constant nausea didn't help either. People were getting suspecious...Peygan was getting suspecious.

I guess I wasn't as clever as I thought at my hiding my symptons. Throwing up daily and feeling like death warmed over can make a person careless. But I digress. I had just finished praying to God to either cure my morning sickness or strike me dead, when Peygan came into my bathroom.
Kneeling besides me, he gently rubbed my back. Sure it's embrassing being caught with ones head in the tiolet heaving, but Peygan, my confidant and trusted butler, didn't say anything as he helped me stand. Grabbing a fresh wash cloth, he wet it and wiped my face and mouth. Like a beloved family friend, he'd always been there. My earliest memories are of Peygan driving me off to school, making sure I ate properly and keeping me out of trouble. Being a second father to me when mine was constantly away. How was I going to tell this sweet man my secret? To others he was just a butler, but to me he was closer than family. He'd be so disappointed in me.

"Come now, Ms. Relena. Back to bed." Peygan said softly, setting the wash cloth down to dry on the towel rack. He ushered me back to my unmade bed and even tucked me in.

"Peygan, I-" I began to speak when he sat down on the bed beside me.

"How far a long are you, Ms. Relena?" he asked.

All I suddenly could do was cry. He knew. He gently wrapped his arms around me and just held me as I sobbed. No condemnation or rebuke came. I guess the one thing I could count on was his consistency. He was always kind and understanding.

"Ms. Relena, don't cry. You have nothing to be sad about. Children are a blessing. I am correct, am I not? You are pregnant?" He asked, producing a handkerchief from his uniform as he began wiping my nose like I was little girl again.

I nodded. "Y-Yes. Four months."

"Have you been taking care of yourself? Have you been to the doctor yet? Prenatal care is especially important the first couple of months."

And I smiled for the first time in months. God, I loved this old man. That was Peygan for you. Just roll with the punches.Taking the handkerchief from him, I wiped away any remaining tears.

"Does Master Yuy, know?"

There was the question I'd been dreading anwering for months.

"H-He's not the father, Peygan." I said, voice trembling in shame. I couldn't look at him. He'd automatically thought it was Heero's and I knew everyone would also.

The only indication of his surprise was the slight lifting on his eyebrows in understanding. He nodded and patted my hands. "Who is the father Ms. Relena, if not Master Yuy?" he questioned.

So I told him my shameful story. I stared at our joined hands during my awful confession and he listened without reproach. I knew he could be trusted to keep my secret. I wasn't letting anyone know how I had gotten pregnant or who was partly responsible for it.

"I gather I'm the only one to know you are with child?" Peygen asked, after I finished.

"Yes. Peygen, I beg of you to please-"

"Ms. Relena, no one will know unless you want them to. I promise you."

I nodded knowing glad he wasn't judging me. But, there was still a part of me that was afraid of his true reaction.

"Are you disappointed in me?" I had not meant to say it out loud, but fear brought it forth. I desperately had to know. His old, weathered face gave me my answer before he even spoke.

"No, I could never be. I've always been proud of you. You have singlehandedly accomplished what most people spend their lives trying to do. But I am sad about this situation. I won't lie. I do wish you were married before you started having children, but what's done is done. I'll always love and support you Ms. Relena, never doubt it."

And I didn't.

Now if I thought telling Peygan was torture, I knew telling my brother would just ten times worse. Later that afternoon, Peygan called my brother and his wife Noin over to my manor so I could tell them in private. Peygan had become a regular mother hen now that he knew I was pregnant and I never felt more loved in my life.

*Ding! Ding!*

"They're here, Ms. Relena. I'll go let them in." he walked to answer the door while I mangled another nail anxiously. My manicurist was going to kill me. I stood in entrance way of my den slowly dying inside over Milliardo's reaction. But really, how bad could it be?

Really bad actually.

Once the greetings went around and the small talk ended, I just blurted it out like a fool. So much for all my political savy. Right now I wasn't calm, collected Vice Foreign Minister Darlian. Instead I was scared out of my mind pregnant teen. Hmm, sounds like a super hero, doesn't it? Except I don't have a cape and I'll tell all viewers don't try this at home!

"WHAT?!" Milliardo yelled back at me in disbelief.

"I'm p-pregnant. I'm four months pregnant." I said quietly. What could I say? I just stared back at his furious face and rested my right arm over my growing belly. I was sitting on my floral covered couch while Peygan stood protectively over me. Noin put her hand over her mouth and just kept shaking her head. Finally she rose out of her chair and came over to me and sat down.

"Relena, why have you kept this from us for so long? We would have understood." Noin put her arms around me and gave me a quick hug.

"The HELL we would have! Have you lost it, Lu? She's only nineteen years old! She the Vice Foreign Minister, for Christ sake! Wait until the press gets a hold of this. Damnit Relena, what were you thinking?" Ranted Milliardo.

I said nothing as he paced back and forth. I dreaded what I knew as coming next.

"That bastard! I told you, Lu. We should have never trusted Yuy around her. Guarding her, huh? Yeah, he did more than guard you, didn't he?" he snapped, running a hand through his hair in frustration.

"I didn't even know you two were seeing one another. Have you told Heero, yet?" Noin asked.

"That bastard better have proposed at least! So help me, if he didn't..." Milliardo said.

"He's not the father of my baby." There. I said it.

Silence. Cold, chilling silence. I literally could hear a pin drop if I had one.

"W-what? Heero's not the father?" Noin gasped.

She was in shock. It was understandable. She knew how much I loved Heero. I just nodded my head and turned as my brother abruptly stopped pacing.

"T-that's impossible. Why are you covering for him?" Milliardo questioned.

"I wish it were as simple as that, but it's not. I'm pregnant and Heero isn't the father. I haven't seen or heard from Heero since Mariemaia and you know that." I said.

"Then who, damnit? Who?"

I didn't say anything. I just watched as his face turned an unnatural shade of purple. I haven't known my brother long, but I knew rage when I saw it. He wanted to explode and I was glad Heero wasn't around at the moment for fear of his life.

"The baby's father is of no ones concern except me. I'm sorry." I stood up and went over to my brother to try to calm him down.

"Milliardo, please, just try to-" I grabbed his right hand, but he snatched it back in anger. I could feel tears starting to come and I cursed my hormones. I won't cry!

"You tell me you're pregnant and that it's none of my business who the father is?" growled Milliardo. He kept running his hand through his hair in agaitation.

"Honey, please let her finish." Noin pleaded. She and Peygan walked over to hover behind
me in support.

"You're covering for him and I won't let him get away from his responsibilty!" With that he stormed out of den, wrenching the door open and started heading for the front door.

"Stop it, please!" I pleaded with him as we chased after him. An enraged Milliardo/ Zech Merquise was nothing to sneeze at.

Noin sprinted past me and stopped him before he could get to their blue Sedan parked in my cul de sac driveway. I stood in the doorway while they argued loudly back and forth. Peygan put his hands on my shoulders and squeezed softly. Just knowing he was there was comfort enough.

"We're leaving, now!" Not waiting for an answer, Milliardo grabbed Noin's arm and forcably pushed her into the passangers side of the car. After slamming the door, he stopped to look at me for a second before he went over to the drivers side. Gunning the engine, he raced out of my driveway like a bat out of hell.

I couldn't read the expression on his face, but it left me feeling uneasy. Whatever he was about to do, I knew I wouldn't like it.

"Get me Commander Une, now!" Milliardo screamed at the vid-screen. Commander Une's secretary blinked at his tone, but knew it had to be important. He was, after all the VFM's brother.

"What can I do for you? Is Relena all right?" Lady Une asked, concerned. She could see in the background that Noin was pacing back and forth. And she looked extremely angry.

"Hmph. She's far from all right. I need you to find Heero Yuy immediately!"

"What do you need Yuy so badly?" Une inquired.

"Because, I'm going to murder him, that's why!"
