Chapter 7
(things can go from bad...to worse)

I woke up this morning to find Heero snuggled against my chest, both an arm and a leg were thrown over him, as if to say 'you are not moving, till I say so'. I looked over at the clock and noticed that it was five to eight, we should be getting up any minute now. As if hearing my thoughts...The alarm sounded and Heero stirred in my embrace. A few seconds later I had sea-blue orbs staring up at me, with the innocence of one not introduced to the war.

At some point, we both mutually decided that it was time to get up and get ready for school, both of us taking turns in the shower and then getting dressed. The walk to school was peaceful, but something in the atmosphere just didn't seem right...like a bad omen. Looking over at Heero, he didn't seem to notice. He was staring at the sky and the surrounding nature, with a great deal of fascination.

I could tell that Heero wasn't enjoying school. After living with the boy for so long in the war, it wasn't hard to understand his body language. He was still lagging behind me, even though his ankle was properly healed; he had no reason to lag.

We arrived at school soon after and Heero was just about to walk off to class when I grabbed his arm and pulled him back to me. He tried to struggle in my grasp but I wouldn't let him go...even though he is fully healed, I am still stronger as a result of my taller frame. I held him until he ceased struggling and then, once he had settled down, I spoke to him.

"I will meet you at the tree at lunchtime." I whispered. He turned to look up at me with unreadable eyes.

"You don't have to...if you want to be with your new friends....it's okay with me." he replied, but I would have none of that.

"I promise Hee-chan. I will meet you at the tree at lunchtime. I will be there."

Heero nodded in reply, not sure whether to believe my words or not and then walked off towards his form-room. I to jogged off to form room and prepared for my morning classes.

------------------------------
You know when you want something to come so much, that time seems to hault...just to annoy you. It was four hours until lunchtime, but it seemed to be an eternity.

From the actions of the kids in my grade I could understand why Heero was feeling so depressed though. Not even the perfect soldier could stand up to such harsh mental bashings.

"Hey Duo," called the girl in the desk next to his. Rosa if I could remember her name correctly.

"yeah" he replied.

"What's the deal with that Heero kid in year eleven?" She asked

"what do you mean?" I questioned. The stupid girl didn't even realise that she had just enraged an ex-Gundam pilot.

"I mean, he's quiet, anti-social; doesn't say a word unless spoken to and then its just a 'hn'. He ignores neally anyone and doesn't let anyone touch him. He's such a freak."

"You'd be the same if you were raped when you were five years old...If you were raped from the time you were five until you were eight. If you couldn't remember your parents."

The girls eyes widened and she had the decensy to blush after realising her mistake.

"Next time, don't be so quick to judge...tell the other students that to."

The class was quiet, everyone had listened to Duo's speech, as it was the first time Duo had spoken without a smile gracing his lips. Everyone felt guilty for judging the hurting teenager so quickly, no wonder he was so antisocial.

"Good" I said and then went back to work.

Gosh five minutes till lunchtime. Why does time have to go so unbelievebly slowly. This is probably the longest five minutes of my life.

BEEP

'Finally', he thought, as I jumped out of the chair and hurried to the place where I had assigned to meet Heero. But everything seemed to be getting in my way. Every corridor I turned down someone would stop me to apologise for their treatment of Heero. When i asked one of them why she weren't telling him not me, she said:

'No one's seen him since recess.'

And only one thought tracked through my mind.

"Oh shit" I broke into a run and headed for the spot when Heero and I had decided to meet. For a while worry struck me as I couldn't see his smaller figure, but then I saw him sitting at the base of the tree. Looking at the ground???

I cautiously took steps towards him and it was only when I arrived at his side that I noticed that something was definately wrong. Heero was unconscious.

"Oh shit" I swore as I leant down to examine my love.

"Fuck, please Heero. Be okay" I pleaded.

I got no response.
