Good Things Come in Small Packages...

Part Four

Later that evening, while Wufei ran out to pick up a few supplies that they
would need for breakfast in the morning, Trowa tucked the five chibi bois into
bed. He read them five stories, one that each had picked out, and gave each one
a kiss before standing to leave.

"Twowa?" The emerald-eyed youth turned and blinked at his chibified
counterpart.

"Hai, Tro-chan?"

"Why did Heewo go 'way? Dun he wike us no more?"

Trowa sighed mentally. He really should have been expecting this; after all,
they had asked the same thing when the older Quatre and Duo had taken off. He
sat back down on the bed and brushed the reddish-brown bangs away from the boi's
face.

"Heero-san left because he missed Duo-san and Quatre-san," he said gently. "He
still likes you five, but he needs to be with them."

"Wike I need to be wiff Quatty and Feifei needs to be wiff T'owa?" Chibi Duo
asked innocently.

"Um... yes, I suppose so. But just because they aren't here doesn't mean they
like you any less. It just means they need to be alone for a while."

"Tha's okies, I guess," Chibi Heero said from his spot between Chibi Wufei and
Chibi Duo. "Just as wong as you an Woofei dun go 'way."

"I'm not going to leave," Trowa said, leaning down to kiss the Japanese chibi
clone. "I love you bois. I wouldn't even *think* of abandoning you."

"Do you wuv Woofei too?"

The slender bishounen turned wide green eyes to the blond chibi, who was
blinking innocently. "What?"

"Do you wuv Woofei?"

All five chibis were now paying close attention. They had been disturbed, to
say the least, when their 'uncles' had vanished. The knowledge that their
parent-figures weren't going anywhere made them feel a little better, but they
wanted to know for sure that the people taking care of them weren't lying to
them when they said 'I love you'.

Trowa sat quietly, wondering just how he should answer that question. If he
said 'no,' he would be lying to the children *and* to himself. But if he said
'yes,' there would be no way to keep pretending that he was perfectly content
with just friendship.

After a moment, he drew in a breath and smiled at the five children. "Yes," he
said evenly, "I do. I love Wufei just like I love each of you."

Outside in the hallway, still hidden from view, Wufei stood frozen. He'd heard
the question, and he'd heard the answer. After a long time, during which Trowa
read the bois yet another story, the Chinese bishounen moved away from the door
and retreated to the living room. He had a lot of thinking to do.
