Wufei was trying hard to meditate in his own room. He needed to clear his mind but he simply couldn't get that woman what's her name…Merian…out of his head. He remembered the kind smiles that she had given him when they were out shopping for Duo's ice cream. And then there was her voice. Just thinking about it made Wufei snap.

`That's it!' he thought to himself. `I'm going to get her number off Duo and ask her out tonight.'

It had taken half an hour trying to get it off Duo who insisted why he wanted to know. In the end Heero had told Duo to hush up and give it to him. Now Wufei was now standing in front of the vidphone, number in hand.

`What am I going to say once I've contacted her?' he thought. His inner Duo answered him straight away.

`Take her out to a fancy restaurant for a romantic candlelit dinner.' It said.

His other told him not to call for fear of rejection. `A negative response will destroy what pride you have left. Don't call her!!!'

In the end his inner Duo won and Wufei gathered his courage before making the call. Wufei was not expecting Thomas to pick up the phone.

"Wuffie!" cried Thomas. "Mama its Wuffie!"

Wufei could hear Merian's voice in the background.

"Wufei? Darling could you just tell him to hold on for a minute or two?"

Thomas looked straight into the vidphone and put on a serious face. "Mama says for you to hold on a minute or two. Can you hold on for that long? I can't. When I gotta go I gotta go."

Wufei burst out laughing.

"Honey what did you tell him?" Light footsteps could be heard from the vidphone before Merian's face appeared.

"Oh goodness!" she exclaimed when she saw Wufei clutching his sides and laughing his heart out. "I hope whatever Thomas said wasn't embarrassing." Merian blushed.

Wufei slowly regained composure.

"No, he didn't say anything like that. I hope that you weren't in the middle of anything important before I interrupted you."

"No, nothing important. I was just washing the dishes like I do every evening." She said.

Wufei gulped "Oh that's good." He paused. "Um Merian…I was wondering if you were free on this Thursday because I was thinking of uh…you…me…I…uh…wouldyouliketogooutwithme fordinner?" Wufei twisted his fingers nervously as he waited for a reply.

"I would love to go out with you on Thursday." Replied Merian.

Wufei's inner Duo did a little victory dance.

"Then I will pick you up from your place at seven."

"Sure, I'll see you then."

Wufei said goodnight and ended the connection. Now all he had to do was to make arrangements for the night.
