Hating a Phoenix

***Hello y'all! I've been getting some great feedback, and I mean GREAT positive feedback! I've tried my best to incorporate all your suggestions into my already-written chapter outlines. I hope it turns out as you've hoped. So keep it up! The only way to add what you think is best to the story is to TELL ME! I love it! And I REALLY love the ideas I have lined up for this fic, so…buckle up!
Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Wing, its characters, or anything having to do with it. I only own the idea behind this continuation, and if it is copied, there WILL be consequences. There is a song featured in this chapter called `Moon and Stars'. It was written by me for this fic, so I'm sorry that you don't know the tune. Use your imagination! However, it IS copywritten, so don't you DARE take it!!!!
One year has passed since Minister Relena Dorlain's funeral. Luckily, Relena had been successful in what she called `her mission', so though the population grieved and suffered after her death, peace did not fall apart. The Gundam pilots and her friends kept her memory alive as much as possible, but they all did so in their own way. All of them: Duo, Hilde, Quatre, Dorothy, Trowa, Catherine, Wufei and Sally kept in close touch. However, after his encounter with Trowa and Duo, Heero Yuy has not been seen. True to their word, Duo and Trowa said nothing of their conversation with him. But now, a new, globally-known figure is surfacing, and the pilots and co, don't know what's coming…
“Thank you and welcome back to the intercolonial news report. Our top story this morning: Music stores on both the Earth and colonies are being completely mobbed this morning. The cause for this is the new release of the artist `Artemis's debut album, `Queen of the Moon'. All her fans (which includes most of the population) have been waiting a long time for the release of her album. Her already released singles `Turning Around' and `Moon and Stars' have hit #1 and held it for quite a while. The album is selling quickly, so get your copy ASAP!
Well, that's it for this morning news report. We'll leave you with Artemis' newest video, `Moon and Stars'.”
There are stars, filled with light,
That I see every night,
No matter
Wherever I am.
And at twilight I go,
Let my secrets unfold,
I believe it is you, I confess to.
And I know, that you know…
That you, are the stars,
And I, am the moon.
Our love, fills the night,
Like the light fills a room.
You, are the stars,
And wherever I go,
I know.
That is exactly,
Exactly where you are.
I'll tell you…
At night I dream;
The galaxy has swallowed me whole.
The dark is smothering,
The lights are covering,
And there's absolutely nothing I do.
But I know, that you know…
That you, are the stars,
And I, am the moon.
Our love, fills the night,
Like the light fills a room.
You, are the stars,
And wherever I go,
I know.
That is exactly,
Exactly where you are.
Why, (tell me why)
Do you deny this?
Why, (tell me why)
Do you rage?
Your confusion, (your confusion)
It has killed me.
But the sky, still remains.
Oh baby.
I know that,
You are the stars,
And I am the moon.
And that is exactly,
Exactly where you are.
“This has been the intercolonial news report.”
Duo straightened in his armchair. He rubbed his eyes with fatigue. He didn't like to get up this early. He stays at Hilde's apartment for a few weeks, and he gets woken up at 6 am? Something had to be done.
“I really admire her voice, you know.”
The ex-Gundam pilot jumped in his chair. Then he added to Hilde's comment,
“Yeah, that and she's also REAL hot!”
Upon that comment, Hilde began to fume. He was so insensitive! She ought to kick him out! Instead, Hilde sighed and muttered,
“Men.”
Quatre sat at the breakfast table with Dorothy, Trowa, Catherine and Rasheed, who were all guests at (one of) his mansion(s). Now that Relena was gone, they all ha conflicting tastes in politics. The conversation was remarkably dead, so he decided to test the waters.
“Today is the day that Artemis' album is released. I heard music stores are completely swamped.”
Dorothy looked up, then commented,
“I could understand that. She does have an impeccable voice. But I have sworn off celebrities. They all couldn't make it in the real world.”
Trowa cleared his throat, then refuted her comment.
“That is rather bigoted of you. Anyways, I read in a newspaper that Artemis is actually quite an intellectual. She has very educated opinions on any subject asked of her.”
Catherine was rather surprised at her brother's contribution to the discussion. She then stated,
“Well, she's fresh off university, isn't she? Until she made her debut two months ago, she was finishing her classes.”
Rasheed then added,
“That's true. But I think that her most prominent feature is her body. She is toned just to the right amount from her dancing. But I think that makes people only reflect on the outside appearance more.”
Quatre simply sipped his tea, happy the group wasn't arguing about politics.
The small shuttle landed on the long runway, right beside a large throng of reporters, photographers and cameramen. It stopped, and its door opened. Two large, tall men in black suits emerged, the motioned towards someone inside the jet. The camera flashed as the singer Artemis emerged from the jet, her clothes rippling against her lithe form in the wind. She squinted in the sudden light, then calmly walked down the stairs and into the crowd of reporters, closely followed by her bodyguards.
The flashes in the crowd as Artemis passed were enough to blind a healthy person. The hot new story was Artemis' sudden breakup with Sebastian Valmont, a popular actor, after a relationship lasting a month and a half. The woman simply slipped on her dark sunglasses and negotiated her way through, muttering `No comment' at the proper time. Raoul and Jamal came to her aid and led her through to her waiting limo, which whisked her away from the unsatisfied reporters.
Eventually, the limo stopped in front of Artemis' home, a large mansion. By then, the limo was stained with the red earth of the planet. Artemis exited the long vehicle, and motioned to the driver that he was dismissed.
Once alone, the young celebrity strode purposefully toward the front door. A tall man came out to meet her, and enveloped her into his arms. After a short, meaningful hug, the man with long silvery hair similar to hers, led Artemis inside, speaking,
“Welcome back, sister.”
The music was playing in the background. Around them, brightly coloured dresses and black tuxedos whirled. They danced slowly, not speaking, not even making eye contact. Quietly, so none of the other dancers, nor the small admiring crowd standing on the side could here, they began to converse. He was surprised at what she said.
There was a loud crash. He had to go, do what he was meant to do. He was working the powerful machine around him, explosions happening to all he wanted to destroy. Then silence. Then, she was standing there.
But the falling tower above her would crush her. He didn't want that. He had to protect her, she couldn't be hurt. He sheltered her with a shield. Why? Why did he want to protect her? She should die. Think of all the things she'll do to you. There is no point in saving this girl.
He tried in vain to analyze his unconscious feelings. Why? Why, why, why?
His surroundings dissolved completely. Where was he now? He was unable to tell. There was a bright light emanating from one area. He tried to look at it, but it was far too brilliant, even for his trained eyes. All he could make out were long white wings. Wings like an angel. No, he corrected himself. Angels do not exist, they are fictional beings invented by the Church. But he couldn't stop himself from asking,
“Who are you?”
The angel (NO! Stop it! Angels are imaginary!) answered,
“Stop thinking so much. Lead the way.”
Flashback:
Noin was pacing back and forth, one hand held to her forehead. She was trying to make sense of the situation Relena was getting into. She threw her hands up in irritation.
“This is idiotic. Relena will attract way more attention than she wants. She'll blow her cover.”
Milliardo simply smiled at her frantic attitude. He replied,
“No, she won't. Lena's too careful. If she doesn't want to be found, she won't.”
Noin stopped her pacing to glare at him. She then resumed her action, muttering to herself.
“Artemis, what IS that? Where did she get that name?”
Milliardo smiled.
“THAT, I can answer. It's Lena's middle name. Her full name is Relena Artemis Peacecraft.”
Noin sighed. She knew that she was losing this battle. Besides, Relena was very set in her ways.
“Why can't she realize that singing is going to draw WAY too much attention? Perhaps songwriting would be acceptable, but not doing both! She is going to blow her cover, and then she and YOU, Milliardo, will be exposed. Do you want that? Do you?”
Noin had stopped her pacing again and was piercing him with her stare. She was obviously very worried and uptight on this. Milliardo sighed and became serious. He got up, wrapped his arms around Noin, and laid a small kiss on her temple. He spoke in a soft, comforting whisper,
“To tell you the truth, I didn't like it at first either. But we have to let her lead her life. She's the kind of person who gets noticed, it's true. But she has to make her own mistakes, if she makes them at all. We are not her parents, and I'm only her brother. I have only so much control, Lucrezia.”
She sighed, but this time a tiny bit more uplifted, in submission. She buried her head in Milliardo's chest, and the two held each other in their silent worry.
The bright figure spoke to him again.
“Throw away your pitiful worries and be strong. But be strong, but do not be cold. Even warriors like you need someone. And to set things in motion, all that you have to do is look to the music. The answers are all there.”
The world around him dissipated. And he was falling. The words kept on repeating, repeating…
Heero Yuy sat up in bed, covered in a light sheen of sweat. He was breathing hard. The words were still repeating in his head, over and over and over again. Look to the music, the answers are all there. Look to the music.”
A loud beep sounded in the dark room. Heero's eyes turned and stared at the lit screen on his open laptop. A slightly familiar face appeared. Heero's face contorted in sudden anger. Then, the voice of Maxwell Pavey filled his room.
“It's been a while Mr. Yuy. I have a small favour to ask of you. And I know that you may be reluctant to help me, so I'm imposing the same consequences for disobedience as there were a year ago. Surely you remember…”
In Heero's mind, it still echoed, like a sudden mantra to motivate him. What was the meaning?
Look to the music.
***Okay!! Let's get this on! I want the action working in full swing, and I'm getting there. I'm sort of getting the foundation for everything in this chapter, you know, a year later… Important stuff starts happening come the next chapter, and so on! I, for one, am pretty excited, the way this is growing! Wait until you see what I have coming! HEE HEE HEE!!!
Oh, by the way! You may (or may not) have noticed the song that Artemis sings in this chapter. Yes, I did write it, all by myself (I'm so proud). ***Sorry that you don't know the tune, but it would have gotten all complicated. That's the way it goes, y'know?*** And yes, it was inspired by Heero and Relena's relationship, with Heero always there to protect her, though she can't see him… Sigh. It really is romantic.
With every chapter I post, I'm going to ask your opinion if I should write a lemon for when the time comes, we're not there yet. I've had SOME feedback, and right now, the scale is tipping in favour of writing one. Give me your opinion, because, after all, this is for you guys.
FEEDBACK!! I'VE GOT SOME, I WANT MORE!!!!! PLEASE DON'T BE SHY!! I'LL LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!
Well, until the next chapter…(Sorry this one was so short. I have long ones lined up.)
