Chapter Nine

Duo woke up to find himself alone in the bed. He rose to his waist and grunted. `Damn Heero…take it easier next time. `

`But it's never that much fun. ` Duo heard in his head. The chestnut haired teen knew Heero wasn't in the room so he asked.

`Where are you Heero…we don't have school…do we? `

Duo swore he could HEAR Heero smile. `No Baka we don't have school. `

Duo stood up and walked over to his dresser. `Then where are you? `

As he pulled a white long sleeved shirt over his head he heard Heero reply, `I'm with Sally at the mall. `

Duo fell to the wooden floor of their dorm room. As he rose up he screamed…in his thoughts, `WHAT?! ` He sworn he heard his mate laugh. `Heero Yuy at the mall, has hell frozen over? `

`Yeah don't remind me. ` Duo pulled on some tight dark blue jeans. `Oh Duo I got too go. ` And with that Heero blocked off the link he had with Duo.

"He's acting really strange." He said as he pulled on a black jacket. "I'll go see if Wufei knows what's going on."

-20 minutes later-

Duo stood in front of Wufei's dorm room. He knocked and didn't receive an answer, so he knocked again. "Wu-man are you up?!" he yelled. Then suddenly the door flung open and Duo yelped and backed up.

A very red-eyed messy haired Chinese teen glared at him. "What do you want Duo?"

"Um…" For a minute Duo forgot why he had come over again. "Do you know why Sally and Heero went to the mall together?"

Wufei tried very hard to keep his smile down. "No I don't why don't you bug Trowa and Quatre. They probably know more then I know."

Duo smiled and ran down the hall screaming. "Thanks Wufei!"

The Chinese teen smiled then whispered. "Can't give away the surprise." In addition, with that he turned on his heel closed the door locked it and went back to sleep.

-Another Twenty Minutes Later-

Duo sighed as Trowa answered the door. "Hey Tro do you know why Heero and Sally went to the mall?"

Trowa sighed. `This is going to be harder than I thought. ` "No Duo. I've been in here doing my homework."

"Oh sorry."

Trowa let a little smile pass his face. "Eh…no worries."

Duo turned around and waved back at his friend. "Well I'll see you later." He turned to leave but only to look back at Trowa once more. "Ne…where's Quatre?"

Trowa ran a hand threw his bangs. "He's with Nana and Luke out near the park."

-At the Park-

Duo smiled and stopped running. Taking in the sight below, his smile grew. Nana his daughter laid on the ground wearing tight blue jeans with a black long sleeve shirt with a white tank top over it. Her hair was in a high ponytail that rested on the top of her head. She wore black boots that came to her calf. Duo thought she looked great when Sally had taken them shopping for the latest trends for his daughter.

That brought Duo back to why Heero was at the mall. He tried to trace their link, but it remained blocked. Frustrated Duo sighed. `I'm defiantly going to have a talk with Mr. Yuy! ` He thought.

Quatre looked around wondering where the tension was. He spotted Duo and sighed. `It's going to be alright Duo. ` He smiled as the pilot looked down at them once again. "Ne Duo?" Quatre shouted. "Come down here!"

Duo ran down the hill to the tree. Once he got there, Nana hugged him. "Ne? Duo? Where have you been?"

Duo smiled at his daughter and pulled back. "I just got up about uh…forty minutes ago."

Luke snorted. "You're supposed to be up by 7:00am Mr. Duo."

The long haired vampire male sighed. "Mou Luke it's the weekend. Besides don't call me Mr. Duo." Duo shook as if Luke calling him "Mr." was like a greasy slimy snake crawled down his back. Even though we all now our Du-chan isn't afraid of snakes.

Duo looked back at the red head with a smile. "Just call me Duo."

Luke, who had been leaning on the tree with his arms crossed over his chest, sighed. "Yeah sure whatever..." he then walked off towards the woods with his hands deep down in the pockets of his denim blue jeans.

Nana looked as her Luke left. She sat back down crossing her legs in Indian style. "Good thing he's leaving too." She begun opening her text book about to do some homework when Quatre got interested in her conversation.

The blonde looked confusingly at her. "And why is that Nana?" Quatre would have called Nana Nana-sama because of her born right into leadership and all. But the stubborn teen refused. She considered Quatre as a friend and friends don't call there friends Sama. Do they?

Nana sighed, pushing back a stray bang behind her ear. "'Cause Quat…he keeps following me around. It's like the guy's protecting me or something." She looked back down at her book. "I say I need to file a restraining order."

Quatre brought his hand to his mouth trying to hold in his giggles. Duo just let a huge shit eating grin slip onto his face. Confusingly the daughter Yuy looked at her blonde friend then to her younger dad. "Duo what's so funny?" The empathic couldn't hold it in any longer and burst into laughs. "I'm serious…" Nana began. "I really think he needs to do something more than stock me."

Duo finally thought he had enough. "Nana…he's not stocking you…he's protecting you."

Being Heero's daughter she stubbornly put up a fight before the last part hit her. "Na-uh he's not protecting me he's…" She stopped, cobalt blue eyes widening in shock.

Finally getting over the shock Nana looked at Duo. "Why?"

Duo looked down at her, acting his parent role. "'Cause Nana…you are too valuable and defiantly too vulnerable to be walking around by yourself."

Completely offended beyond control Nana jumped up almost knocking Quatre in his poor little face with her clutched fist by her side. You see being Heero's daughter Nana has a very short temper span. If you were Nana wouldn't you be offended too if your father thought you were weak and needed a body guard right?

Right!

Anyways Duo stared his daughter down, while poor Quatre and being an empathic his mind was rolling on a roller coaster. He walked up bowing then ran to find comfort in Trowa. Duo saw this and shook his head. `Poor lil Quat. ` Then he turned his attention to Nana. Her cobalt blue eyes that always showed bright joy now possessed rancor.

"Why do you think I'm weak?!" she asked threw gritted teeth.

-Heero and Sally-

Heero smiled as he looked at the gold band engagement ring in its blue box that he was planning on giving Duo. Sally walked beside him carrying tons of bags of clothes and food for the family. She had agreed to cook dinner for Heero and his clan on one condition. Sally had asked Heero if Nana could get her ears pierced two more times. It wasn't a hard decision for Heero to make. His daughter was only allowed to wear one set of earrings.

-Flashback-

Sally glared at her leader, refusing to give up the argument. "Heero…Nana needs to grow up and you NEED to let her!!"

Heero growled. "I am letting her grow up but she's not going to look like a GOD DAMN hooker!!"

Sally grunted her teeth together knowing that she was walking a thin line of winning this argument with her leader. "Fine…I'll cook for your proposal and I teach Nana to with stand her attacks and…" Sally bowed her head in shame. "I'll even be your slave for two days?"

Heero crossed his arms over his chest. "Ten days!"

Sally glared at him then uttered a simple fine.

-End of Flashback-

Heero smiled as he closed the top lid. He looked over to Sally which was smiling while eating some chocolate candy. Heero shook is head back and forth. Suddenly Heero stopped. Sally kept on walking oblivious on what's going on.

Finally Heero calls out to her. "Sally…"

His voice was different. His voice carried shock and…fear? Sally turned around, almost dropping the bags as she looked into Heero's eyes. Right then and there she knew he was sensing something. His powers were telling him something…danger was near.

-Duo and Nana-

"It's not that I don't trust you Nana…it's just that I don't want to lose you." Duo almost cried. He didn't like arguing with his daughter. He didn't like it at all. He almost cried, with frustration.

"I can take care of myself Duo!!" She screamed back. "I have powers you know!!"

-Quatre and Trowa-

Trowa was about to lie down and take a nap when his mate ran into the room, slam the door shut and leaned against it trying to get his breathing to slow. The banged vampire looked at the blonde in confusion. "Quatre what's…?"

"Duo and Nana…arguing…Nana's mad…cause Duo won't…trust her…by herself and…so...Nana is angry and…"

Trowa scooped his exhausted lover into his arms. The poor guy fell unconscious. Trowa reached for his cell phone and called Heero.

-Heero and Sally-

Heero was speeding down the high way in his black convertible mustang when his cell phone went off. Reaching for it as he dodged another car Heero answered, "Hello?"

Trowa was on the other line, "Yeah buddy you better come back to the campus and quick!"

Heero swerved again. "I'm already on my way…Trowa I'm sensing danger what's going on?"

He could hear Trowa swallow a huge lump in his throat. "I'm not actually sure but what I know so far is that Duo and Nana are in a huge argument somewhere. Quatre ran in and told me. This is serious Heero. Duo mentioned that she has a body guard and well he also said a few things that he didn't mean to say."

Heero grunted, "Like what Trowa?"

Trowa whispered,"Heero you know as well as I do that Nana is just like you when you're mad. Duo said that she needed a protector because she was too vulnerable she took it badly. And wait…"

Heero heard Wufei in the background. "Trowa?" He asked swerving around another car. "Is that Wufei?"

"Yeah it's him he's also here with Luke…Heero you need to get here fast…"

Heero hung the phone up and turned onto the highway. He needed one more exist then he would be on a straight road that would take him to the college.

Duo and Nana-

Nana couldn't handle it any more. Her family thought she was weak and needed looking after? Grant it that she was only born for about four weeks. But given her age of birth her mind has grown into one as similar as a teen. Duo had just told her he didn't want to argue with her and he didn't know why she was so upset.

"I HATE YOU!!!" Nana yelled. "I WISH ALL OF YOU WOULD LEAVE ME ALONE!!"

Duo gasped, his vision completely focused on red eyes and white fangs. `Oh yeah she's pissed Duo. Look what you did know? You're not meant to have a family Duo!! So stop trying! ` His conscious yelled at him. Tears couldn't help but fall from their owners red stained cheeks.

Suddenly Nana turned and teleported away? Teleported? "Since when can she do that?" Duo asked.

-Heero and the others at Duo and his dorm room-

Heero ran into his and Duo's dorm. He expected to see Duo and Nana arguing back in forth but as he neared the room he couldn't sense either one of them. When he ran in the room with Sally hot on his heals, Heero spotted Trowa and Quatre sitting on Duo's bed with Quatre on Trowa's lap. Wufei was also there and as soon as Heero ran in he bowed showing respect for his confused leader.

"Wufei what happened where's Du…" He couldn't finish because he suddenly disappeared.

Quatre jumped up. "Where'd he go?"

-Heero-

When Heero looked around, he was outside? Heero's now wet jean coat clinked to him as he heard sobbing. Suddenly a giant pull between his heart, mind, and bound he shared with his mate yanked. `Duo…? `

He turned around swiftly making his now soaked bangs stick to his face. He saw Duo cuddled up below a tree with his knees brought up to his chest, his arms over them, and his head hidden in between them. `Duo what's wrong? `

Duo didn't answer just simply looked up at him, his heart shaped head suddenly looking broken. Slowly opening his arms he waited for his lover to accompany them. It didn't take long for Duo to fall into the warm embrace. "Heero…" he sobbed.

Heero hugged the teen back stroking his back affectionately. "Duo what's wrong…what happened?"

He didn't expect Duo to pull back and he didn't really want him to either. "Heero…Nana…she's…she hates me…" Duo cried.

Heero hugged Duo harder. `Luke wherever you are you better find my daughter and protect her. I sense something bad about to happen. `

His thoughts were broken as Duo sneezed and shivered closer to him. At that moment he realized Duo only had on a thin tee-shirt and was probably really cold. Scooping his shivering mate in his arms Heero teleported back to the others.

-Nana-

Nana ran as fast as she could in the rain, determined to get as far away from her father as possible. She couldn't stand him. Why did he not trust her? He didn't even give her a chance. As she ran she could sense someone was following her, one of her man talents. Expecting it to be a clan member or Luke she stopped and turned around.

Gasping as two demon like males looked at her with lustful glances. A black haired tall male walked towards her. "Hello Nana."
