Hidden Reality

Chapter 1

Duo woke with a groan, he'd landed, luckily on something really soft and it had cushioned his fall. He felt relaxed, that is until he found out that whatever it was that he'd landed on was alive. That, and it wasn't too happy either. For with a great mass of strength it rose up and glared down at him with anger. Duo gazed up with complete fear before he could react though, it's massive three fingered hand had came down and wrapped itself around his very waist. Duo struggled of course, but to no avail. As it brought it's snout up to Duo's face, he thought himself dead. "What are you doing in these caverns?" it simply asked.

"I- I was walking and then, the ceiling to the roof must have caved in and I landed here." Duo hurried to explain.

"I see," the monster of a being sat him down gently, before continuing. "Duo, I should be a little sorry for scaring you myself.", the being replied.

"Wait, how do you know my name?" Duo asked.

"That's because, Duo. I'm the current Demon Prince Heero Yuy." Heero answered.

"WHAT?!!!!!! You're joking right?" Duo asked.

Heero shook his head in response. "I'm not joking Duo, I am Heero, " he replied. "I had to come here after the war was finished to take up my position."

"I'm not being rude or anything right?" Duo replied.

"No, you'll just have to face me in battle is all.", Heero yawned as though this were a common event.

"What?!," Duo yelped. "You seriously don't mean-"

"Whenever a human falls through the sky, he will be considered the Savoir of the Demon Race if and only if he defeats me in battle." Heero shrugged.

"What do you mean, Savoir?" Duo asked.

"Demons and humans have been enemies for a long while, mainly over land disputes," Heero explained. "In order to escape the expansion of the humans, the demons all of different breeds built a massive cavern community. However, the humans have still been waging the war against us secretively. They slowly killed off the female species first, to see if it would eliminate us. However, during that time, a few of the demon races adapted to the change."

"You mean, that males became females bit, right? Like in clown fish?" Duo asked.

"Um... Kind of, I guess. Those of the demon race are all male except for a once in a great while princeling. Such as I am, a Prince is a demon of both sexes." Heero explained.

"You can have babies?!!" Duo blurted.

"That and I can interbreed with other Princes." Heero added in.

"No, uh- uh, you aren't serious." Duo shook his head.

"It's a matter of survival Duo, besides doesn't matter, I'm this way whether or not I like it, so deal with it," Heero glared at him. "Besides this whole colony are my children mostly."

Duo sat in deep thought for a while. "Are you- you know pregnant right now?" Duo asked.

"Yes, Duo I am. I will be most of my time as Prince." Heero replied.

Duo slowly brought his hand to the bloated stomach, it was warm and the fur softer. But, Duo felt the unborn child moving, actually, it seemed more so like multiple children. "And I'm supposed to fight you? While you're like this?" Duo whispered.

"That's what the laws state." Heero replied.

Duo gave a horror struck look towards his former comrade. "Don't worry, Duo I'll be fine. Besides, the battle isn't until the morning, however, you can stay here with me." Heero asked.

"I'd rather stay with you, Heero, I really did miss you after you left." Duo confessed.

He snuggled into Heero's side, and could feel how warm and soft the fur was and hear the slow beating of his friend's heart. "Heero, if this all is true, like some hidden reality then, I need to know more about demon kind." Duo replied.

"Well, I give birth about once every three months to about fifteen to twenty children. Then, when that's finished, I wait a period of three weeks, and then, I go and next with several of the other demons on the last week. "Why so many?" Duo asked.

"Well, one, to ensure plenty of children and to make sure that I am indeed impregnated again." Heero explained.

"I see.", Duo replied, yawning.

A few more questions were asked before Duo snuggled into Heero's warm body and falling fast asleep.

The morning brought a flurry of activity as Duo woke and was dressed by several demons but, Heero was no where in sight. He was handed a rod and pushed off into the middle of a ring with several observers among the stands. Soon, all quieted as Heero entered the ring. The demon set to mark when to go blew their whistle, and Heero came charging at Duo. Lucky for him, he'd trained with Heero and knew to dodge. Only, a thick tail Duo hadn't noticed the night before hit his stomach, sending Duo flying into the ground. He spit the gritty soil from his mouth before turning, and running and locking with Heero. Slowly, he was being pushed towards the wall, just what he wanted. When near enough, Duo leapt up, flipping over Heero as Trowa had once taught him out to do. Then, being quick, he tripped Heero, and quicker still, hit his pressure point knocking him out. There were hushed whispers as Duo seen Heero was out for a good fifteen minutes. Soon, though, they had hurried both Duo and Heero's limp body off to the area they had been last night. When Heero woke though, he didn't seem at all himself, he was too busy messing around. "Excuse us, Noble Savior, but it is time for our Prince to give life." One demon said, rushing into the crowd already forming around the bed.
