Hidden Truth
Chapter 2
Duo couldn't help but flinch as he heard the sounds that weren't very pleasant to his ears. Heero howled in what appeared to Duo as pure pain. When the first one was born, the demons surrounding Heero soon had passed it to him. It was an odd creature, but, no less strange than a human child. More catlike than a human, true but still an obvious mini version of what it would be as an adult. Duo held onto it as others were handed the rest of the ten to twelve Heero had given birth too, it was a long and slow process. Yet as it drew to a close, Duo noticed the other demons with newborns walking away and hence, he followed. Still worrying over Heero, he followed until they reached an area filled with other children, all of them at different stages of growth but all babies in a sense. And there were several demons scurrying about busying themselves with the children. Duo got so swept up into things that he too was soon working on helping care for these small beings. Many of the demons didn't seem to notice that he was there working on these tasks with them. Some even made small talk with him. "I don't know much about being your savior, what is it that I'm supposed to do exactly?" Duo asked.Chapter 2
"Well, from legends we heard you could turn the tides of thought that our enemy has developed about us. I also heard that they would have certain abilities that even they themselves knew nothing of, yet they would know what to do with them, when needed." The demon explained.
"Where am I going to sleep tonight?" Duo asked.
"With our Prince of course, dear Sir. You are so important to the well being of our entire kind that he is to protect you even after that objective is reached," Replied another. "You can go now, they're all asleep now."
Duo walked back the way he came until he got to where Heero lay curled already into a seemingly tight ball of fur. However, he wasn't asleep as Duo first thought him to be, but awake.
"Hello, Duo." Heero greeted, seemingly exhausted, but he'd been cleaned up just as Duo had done with the newborn in the nursery.
"Heero, I don't understand why I was chosen for this. I mean, what am I supposed to do? How am I going to save an entire race?" Duo asked, quietly.
"That's the worse part about it being you who has to do it Duo, because no matter what I say or tell you. I wouldn't know what you are supposed to do, I am not the one to save my race. I could do it for the human's wars but, they weren't as complicated, or close to home," Heero explained. "But for you that war was hurtful, I could tell even though you hid it. Maybe that's why I was mad with you all the time. You were faking all the time, I hated it that you couldn't follow your heart of course, that could be something that would have killed you. I don't know."
"I think what you're saying makes sense." Duo replied.
Heero seemed to smile or something close to that for what he was. Duo snuggled in next to the warmth of his friend. "What's it like to fly, Heero? Not in a Gundam, but on your own power?" Duo asked.
"For me, it was like seeing a true sunrise for the first time." Heero replied.
.....
As weeks went by, the demons seemed to become like a family to him. They didn't treat him any differently than their own kind other than calling him their Savor, nor did they object to his help in the nursery, but encouraged him to do whatever he wanted. Heero tried hard to teach Duo the basics of the demon types and such. "There used to be hundreds of types, but now there is only three types. The water, what my kind are, the sky, and then you have the earthen," Heero explained. "These caves became our homes because they had what all three needed most. Water, tunnels, and plenty of flying space.""What about the kids don't they learn all of this Heero?" Duo asked.
"Yes, they go to school to be taught certain things they need to know as an adult." Heero explained.
The commander pounded his fist into the desk he had sitting by him, as he was frustraighted by the turn of events that had just been sent to him by a trusty assistant. "I can't believe they found him! I can't believe it! When?," He turned towards the assistant.
"About a couple months ago Sir, they found their supposide Savior, yes." She replied.
"Go on, I need to be to myself now." He replied.
A spirit appeared solemnly beside himself. "So, Milliardo, looks like the demons have this war in the bag by now?" It asked.
"I don't know, Treize I really don't. But, I know if we turn him onto our side, there's a possiblity of turning the tides, if only we could come up with some plan!" He growled in frustration.
"I know we want to get even with them, but getting someone into the middle of this is not going to help." Treize tried to explain.
"They killed my Mother and drove my Father insane, what else am I going to do?" Milliardo replied.
"They killed my parents as well, but, you don't see me being vengeful over their death." Treize replied.
"This is our curse, Trieze to fight them until we win," Milliardo explained. "We either die trying, win, or die losing."
"I understand, Milliardo but, it doesn't matter to me as much now as it did when I was living," Trieze sighed. "I just don't want you to face the fate your Father did. I'm glad you've kept this from Relinia all her life."
"I know, at least she was able to pass through the gates." Milliardo replied.
"That's all fine with you, you're not the one who was booted back to Earth after dying." Trieze said, floating on his back and glaring up at the ceiling.
"I'm sorry, I forgot how sore you are on that. So, how do we get this person out of their territory?" Milliardo contemplated.
"We could use a mobile suit, I doubt the Prince would even be able to fight it." Trieze answered.
"You're right, and that newer model will be sufficent enough." Milliardo said outloud, before getting up and quickly walking out.
Trieze trailed behind floating up by the ceiling. This time, they would win the battle, or so the two were sure.
