Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ In The Bedroom ❯ Night 24 ( Chapter 24 )
In The Bedroom: Night 24
Duo watched their faces, watched them watch him, saw himself reflected in their eyes, watching them watch him watch them…Cycles within cycles, never ending.
"We should trust Heero," one of them said in a soft voice. Duo couldn't even tell which one. He wasn't really listening, only knew what he was feeling. Numb.
Am I dead inside? Why can't I feel it? Why I can feel me? I used to…
Visions plagued his mind, waking or asleep they were there, clutching, trying to drag him down. He found himself staring at the wall more often then not, trying to see beyond it, to find some proof that it was still there. It was. It had to be. He just couldn't see it, right?
Their faces were the same, unchanging. Their voices repeated the same words over and over, broken records of the new millennium. He cringed to hear them, to sit there are watch them, to think for a moment that he might actually agree with them.
Trust Heero. Trust the hero. But was Heero light or dark, dark or light? Who could be trusted? Shinigami.
Shaking off his reverie, Duo looked at them all, suddenly angry, not knowing why.
"He makes mistakes. Just like the rest of us."
They weren't listening. They were smiling at him as they left the room, patting his shoulder reassuringly, as if he were a child who didn't quite understand. But he did understand. He understood too well.
It was late. There was a battle coming. Duo knew he should go to sleep, run a diagnostic check, anything to make himself useful, but he just sat there and stared at the wall.
I have no place to lie…
Just like the rest of us.
