Chapter 4

WuFei had already parked Nataku in her space and was coming back from the house with a med kit and a blanket when Heero arrived. Wing had to half carry the crippled form of Shinigami back to the house, taking care to set the black Gundam down on the hanger floor where it could be easily repaired. Heero then put Wing in its space and got out.

"WuFei get Duo out of there he's got to be freezing and near hypothermia by now!" Heero shouted running for the catwalk and down to the other Gundam. WuFei, already on top of Shinigami, put the stuff down and hit the emergency release on the hatch. His eyes went wide with shock and fear when he took a good look at Duo.

"Shit shit shit…!" He got inside the wet cockpit and removed the restraints on the convulsing pilot.

"Duo... Duo wake up! Come on please Duo wake up!" He shook Duo a few times and was rewarded with a moan and a cough. WuFei put his hand to Duo's forehead. It was burning hot. Heero's shadow appeared over the two pilots and WuFei looked up at him, eyes shaking with an unspoken fear.

"Pass him up here we have to get him warm." Heero opened his arms and pulled Duo out of the cramped space and set him down on the Gundam. He helped WuFei up and out then returned his attention to Duo. In a few swift movements they had Duo out of his stiffening clothing and wrapped up in a flannel blanket. Heero carried Duo up and into the house while WuFei followed the two.

:: He'll be all right Shinigami. Shut down and rest.:: Nataku suggested, looking down on her companion. Shinigami's eyes flickered and went dark, his silent response.

Heero carried Duo up to the big room and put him on the bed. WuFei went to the master bathroom and started filling the tub, figuring a warm bath should help to get Duo warmed up. Heero sat on the bed and covered Duo up in some of the thick comforters. Duo whimpered and shivered, skin clammy and some of it burning hot while his arms and legs were ice cold. Heero started rubbing Duo's limbs vigorously to get circulation going again.

WuFei walked in and bit his lip in worry. He grabbed the medical kit and got on the other side of Duo, tending to the oozing wound on the braided pilot's head. Duo's face was pinched in pain and cold, his mind trying to fathom how cold everything was and how numb he felt. His senses weren't working right and he could only manage soft whimpers and moans of discomfort.

"Shhh… it will be ok Duo. Just have to warm you up ok?" WuFei soothed, finishing his work and pulling Duo's thick hair away from his skin. He ran a hand over Duo's face, trying to calm the suffering teen and get him to relax. Heero continued trying to massage heat back into Duo but it didn't seem to work.

WuFei got up and turned the water off to the tub. He was glad it was so big because if Duo were to panic now it would take both of them to calm him down. He had learned once before even in a delirium Duo was almost as strong as he was. Almost.

Heero carried Duo into the bathroom and set him next to the tub. WuFei was already getting out of his own clothing and slid into the warm water. He didn't have time to enjoy how warm he now felt because Heero was helping Duo into the water.

/So cold.. Cold.. Damnit I'm fucking cold…/ Duo's mind was stuck on repeat as he attempted to regain consciousness. The moment the warm water started creeping up his chest he began to struggle. /No.. no more water.. I'll drown... no no please… I'll drown…so cold!/

Heero nearly lost his grip on Duo but managed to keep a hold on him He slid into the water first and settled Duo on his lap.

" Duo calm down. Its Ok I got you. Relax please. Duo it's all right we are here." Heero tightened his embrace on Duo until he calmed down, accepting the warmth and seeming to respond to the softly spoken words. Heero got in a bit deeper, bringing the water to about Duo's neck and held him there. WuFei had undone Duo's braid to lessen the weight on Duo's scalp and was muttering words of comfort to the poor panicking pilot.

The three of them spent the next hour or so in the steaming tub, attempting to thaw out and get the Shinigami's pilot back to at least to an ordinary temperature. His forehead still burned with internal heat and his hands and feet were still freezing but the rest of him was on its way back to normal.

Heero and WuFei took turns massaging Duo's warn out muscles and holding onto him, the entire time speaking nothing but soothing things to Duo and holding up one sided conversations. Duo relaxed and began to get back into a safer form of unconsciousness by the time his extremities were warmed up again.

He still shivered; lips still tinted a faint purple and only managed soft responses in very simple terms of grunting and whimpers. He felt safe, dreaming of being held by his two loves and being warm forever within their arms. He smiled a little as the water was finally starting to cool.

Heero got out first, grabbing a large towel and warping it around Duo as WuFei passed him over. He dried Duo off carefully, being wary not to harm any of the other wounds that covered Duo's pale skin. He then dried himself off, passing a towel to WuFei and then bringing Duo back into the bedroom. When WuFei joined them there Duo was already tucked in bed, his hair in a loose braid and Heero about to get in with him.

"Think we can all fit?" WuFei asked.

"We can try. I figure that our body heat combined should help Duo recover faster. Besides I don't want to pass up the chance…" Heero slid under the covers, pulling Duo partially onto him. WuFei shook his head and smiled, getting in on the other side and curling up to Duo and Heero. The two of them just lay there for a while, watching Duo sleep and occasionally shiver while a new storm whipped its way across the tundra, hiding their house and tracks so that no one would disturb them.

Duo began to wonder when the world became so soft and warm and when he had two heartbeats as consciousness returned to him. He opened his eyes slowly, for some reason unknown to him they were very heavy.

He waited for them to focus, concentrating on his other senses to help determine why he was in a different room and why he felt so safe, wherever he was. He could hear someone's heart beat next to his ear and felt a gentle breath on his other shoulder.

He took a deep breath only to cough and sputter. It hurt deep in his chest. He flinched as someone's hand gently rubbed the sore spot on his chest. Duo turned still very unfocused eyes on the person next to him. Sleepy and concerned cobalt eyes met his; causing Duo to blink a few dozen times before it registered.

"Heero?" His voice was barely above a whisper; it was as loud as he felt he could manage.

"Right here Duo. Glad you are awake." Heero whispered. Duo seemed to recall that soft voice and the gentle hand that was now brushing his bangs out of his face.

"What happened?"

"You were attacked by some Virgos and got thrown into the river. You caught quite the chill. Took nearly four hours to get you somewhat warm again." Duo turned his head to meet WuFei's gentle gaze. He became completely confused but things were beginning to click back into place.

/Ok so I got dunked... cold… I remember Shin trying to talk to me… hearing soft voices… more water and freaking out… then… I wasn't cold any more... I felt safe... I still feel safe… maybe that dream wasn't a dream after all…/ Heero chuckled at the look on Duo's face.

"What?"

"You look so serious. Something the matter?"

"You two… took care of me?"

They nodded.

"You brought me and Shinigami back home?"

They nodded.

Duo shifted a bit and started to blush.

"You took my clothing?" he stated with a little squeak.

Again they nodded.

WuFei wrapped his arms around Duo's waist and gave his pale shoulder a little kiss. Duo's confused look seemed to worsen at the tenderness of the two usually cold pilots. Even more so at the fact that WuFei and Heero were also in a lack of clothing and being very loving towards him, like he was part of them, more then just another Gundam pilot.

"Confused?"

It was Duo's turn to nod.

"Don't be. We'll explain later all right? Get some rest." Duo again nodded, deciding to take WuFei's suggestion and closed his eyes. He tried to get into a position where the most that was under him was the bed but the two solid and much stronger pairs of arms around him refused to let him go. He sighed, out of lack of energy and contentment and faded back to sleep. His mind, now working again, * had * to leave one last little message before his subconscious started up.

/You are *completely * buck-naked and stuck in bed with the two people that you can't get enough of. * STAY PUT!! */

/That I can do./

Heero waited a while, making sure Duo was back asleep before getting up and out of bed. He nearly laughed when Duo pouted in his sleep but the little smile returned when he snuggled further with WuFei, who didn't mind at all. He resisted the urge to find his camera and risk waking the two. /Its so… cute./ He smiled.

The braid he had attempted was unraveling slowly and almost became another blanket that covered Duo's back. WuFei's own shoulder length hair was loose, the hair band fallen out some time ago. He brushed irritably at a strand of raven colored silk that fell across his face. Both of them were wrapped up in a nice tight embrace, Duo's ghostly pale skin contrasting greatly to the darker bronze of the other teen. Heero grabbed a pair of shorts from his bag and headed down stairs to Duo's room.

He had a mission. To see if his theory on Duo was correct so he could move on to the second part of his mission he dreamt up.

Convince Duo to join them.

True a threesome seemed odd to the Perfect Soldier. But if one lover made him want to drop everything and tackle him to any bed near by with a simple smile…/Oh boy.../

He turned on the light in the room and sighed when it didn't work. /Generator must have given out./ He noticed also that the hall light hadn't worked. He doubted it was a busted fuse because of the winds outside, howling like Hellhounds. /May have knocked the wires off the poles too./

He looked around for Duo's duffel and gun case. Of all the things other then his hair Duo loved his guns that he kept in perfect shape. The sharpshooter of the group always had a flair for the dramatic so a lot of his weapons were classics and museum pieces that still worked well enough for the missions.

Heero pulled the duffel out from under the bed and onto the rumpled sheets. He opened it up carefully; as if scared Duo would hear and come down to kick his ass out into the snow.

He looked though the bag carefully, noting each item there in and its position in the bag. He pulled out a little black tube bag and opened it. His sense of smell was rewarded with a wave of chestnut blossoms and thunderstorms. / It's his conditioner. That's what has that smell./ Heero had to admit to himself he was just about addicted to that scent. He put the tube back and closed the duffel, looking back under the bed for Duo's metallic gun case.

He opened it with ease only to be attacked by papers and two small books. Heero smacked himself in the forehead and started picking all of the papers back up. He flipped one over to see what it was and nearly died in shock. /That's… Me. He drew… Me./

Heero looked at the picture of him sketched in pencil. An angelic Heero Yuy sitting on the shoulder of his Gundam with his laptop in his lap. Fait light blue gossamer-like angel wings rested on the boy's back, the only other color besides the down cast cobalt eyes. Heero looked over some of the other pictures to find almost similar ones of WuFei.

WuFei with his reading glasses on sitting in a precarious perch in a tree, light green gossamer hung from his shoulders, blending into the foliage of the tree.

Some rather graphic pictures, apparently from Duo's dreams, also met Heero's gaze. The one that caught his attention thus far was an unfinished picture. Heero and WuFei tangled in each other's arms for the most part, Heero extending a hand towards whoever was seeing the pair of nude angelic figures. The beginnings of a hand moving towards the outstretched one was there as well the finishing touches on the two in the main focus of the drawing.

/I was right. I didn't know he knew how to draw let alone… something like this./ Heero looked at the date of one of them. Nearly three months old. When he and WuFei had became `official'. /So he has felt like this for a long time. Damnit. How could I be so blind?/ He put the pictures back together and into the top of the case, behind the padding. He looked at the journal, thinking of reading them when his conscience smacked him upside the head.

/No. This much I am sure of Duo doesn't want his private thoughts read. Besides... there will be plenty of time to ask him what he writes about./ Heero smirked a bit and put everything back where he had found it.

He left the room and walked to the closet in the kitchen, pulling out a flashlight and some candles. He also checked the little power indicator that was attached to the wall. /Damn the thing did die. Ah well candle light's just fine with me./ Heero mentally grinned before walking back upstairs.
