Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Mission Complete ❯ A Gun Clicks ( Chapter 2 )
A Gun Clicks
Behind you, you hear the click of a gun, and you freeze, wondering how any of the soldiers could have gotten behind you. Your hand moves slowly towards where you keep your own gun, and you turn around to see a boy your own age, with messy brown hair and Prussian blue eyes, with his gun leveled at your chest. Your own eyes narrow at the sight of him, but what puzzles you is that he isn't wearing an OZ uniform; rather, he had on a green tank top and black shorts.
"Who are you?" you ask, keeping your voice calm. "You're obviously not an OZ soldier, so would you mind explaining what you're doing here?"
"I'll ask the questions," the boy answers. "You're not one of them either, even though you're wearing one of their uniforms." You glance down at your clothing and smirk, then notice his eyes go to the switch in your hand. Grinning, you toss it away. "So who are you?" he asks.
You raise an eyebrow. "None of your business." The boy looks slightly annoyed, and you try not to laugh. "Hey, you wouldn't tell me."
"Then what are you doing here?"
You wave your hand behind you in the general direction of the base, which is now in flames: the part of it that isn't completely destroyed, that is. "What do you think?"
"And why did you do it?" he persists.
"Because it was my mission," you say, trying not to laugh at your own answers. He probably won't pick up anything from this other than that you don't like giving people a direct answer.
"You say it was your mission," he states. You nod, and he continues, "If it's your mission, then who told you to do it?"
You consider that for a moment, then grin. "My boss," you tell him. "Though I was the one who decided that I would do it. But then again, that's kinda obvious, don't you think?"
"And who is your boss?"
He walked right into that one. "Well, the dictionary says that a boss is 'one who superintends workmen' and gives them orders, so I guess my boss is the person who superintends me and gives me orders." You stop and frown at the last part. "But then again, no one really superintends me or gives me orders that I have to follow, so I guess he isn't my boss. More like an advisor or something like that."
The boy regards you coolly, and you hide a grin. You'd never tell him, but you're impressed. Most people would have started yelling at you already or torn out their hair, but this guy's really good at keeping his emotions under control. "So you're against OZ," he finally says.
"What do you think? I mean, since I just blew up one of their bases…" you stop at the glare he's giving you. "Fine, fine. I don't like them, and neither do you, apparently, or you would've shot me by now."
"And you think we're after the same thing," he says. "Considering you've had your hand on your gun this whole time and you haven't taken it out yet."
You sweatdrop. "You noticed, and yet I'm not dead yet. Guess that means we are after the same thing." You move your hand away from your gun. No point in keeping it there now, now that he knows what you're up to.
He looks at you for a long moment. "Come with me," he finally says.
You stare at him. "What?"
"Follow me," he tells you.
