Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Nightmares ❯ Welcome to the team ( Chapter 1 )
The pilots stood there, each one so sure of their immortality that I took great joy in dropping from the ceiling and showing them the business end of my Uzi. It only took a few seconds before the floor was covered in blood and I was quickly taking out the teams of mechanics and crew repairmen from the lofty area where the pilots boarded their suits. I finished off the dock and stepped over a body, my foot landing in the pool of blood. I looked down and stared at my reflection in the life essence of the pilots. I watched as my reflection raised her Uzi and let out a shot at me.
I woke up from the dream in a cold sweat, I trembled as I got up and quickly took a shower. I wouldn't be getting anymore sleep tonight…well this morning and I had to report to the Preventers today. I looked at the woman in the mirror and a crooked grin covered my face. My long brown hair was streaked with red and blond highlights. My blue eyes were dull like those of a shark. My skin was pale, I no longer liked to go out during the day, I felt as if all my sins could be seen in the light. I looked at the small scar across my throat, the only time I hadn't completed a mission. The assassination attempt of Treize Kushranada. He left me something to remember him for the rest of my days. I got into the shower and stayed under the scalding hot water for a while, the dream had been in truth, I had run such a mission, but I didn't look back or shoot my reflection.
I had only been a child then, merely fourteen when I fought for Earth, supporting the colonies only to be betrayed as the Gundams and their pilots had. I had fought the good battle and disappeared into the history of space.
That is until last month, I was found in a bar working as a waitress, trying to be a normal twenty year old woman, but the Preventers had some members from the organization I had worked for and they gave out my description and my many code names. I was approached as I left the bar and I fought off the person, thinking he was a rapist. Later on a small group of people came to my apartment and handed me a letter requesting I join the Preventers. At first I tossed the letter into the trash, then that night when I came home I reread the letter and wrote a response. I would come.
That leaves us at present, with me dressed in a black business suit and skirt. I had a gun in my sleeve and between my thighs with a knife in my shoe and one in my hair, concealed in my bun. I had arrived on Earth only days prior and was driven to the meeting spot in a limo. I had to admit the Preventers were well funded if nothing else and I stared at the quiet driver.
The mansion was huge but I was unimpressed by the security, of course the people inside would be harder to kill than most so why bother with anything beyond necessary. I was helped out of the car and quickly frisked, my weapons too well placed to be detected. I was lead down a long hallway to an office where Millardo Peacecraft sat behind a desk and I looked at him rather shocked. The last time I had seen him was when I was running a double agent deal and he and I had been working together on a project that I had ultimately destroyed. He smiled at me from under his ivory mane and I sat down quietly with the stony, indifferent masks I used for all my `missions'.
"Ah, Miss Snow, a pleasure to meet you…again," he said as he stood up and came around the desk. He took my hand and brought it up to his lips. "It has been quite a while, you were going by a different name back then." I nodded slowly but I remained mute. "I assume you wish to know why you were invited here?"
"It crossed my mind," I said quietly. He nodded as he returned to his seat and regarded me.
"We need someone to help us train warriors in the art of assassination, single man missions, etc, your name was mentioned in many fields many times," he said as he rested his chin on his entwined fingers. "Would you like the chance to be a teacher and not have to worry about anything for the rest of your days?" I stared at him.
"You're serious?" I asked indifferently. He nodded slowly and I stood up and walked over to a window, staring out of it I saw many young men and women walking around. Some of them were practicing hand to hand combat, others were reading books, and others were talking as if they weren't being trained to trade their souls for the peace of others.
"Would you like mo-" I raised my hand interrupting him and I walked over to him.
"Yes on one condition," I said and he looked at me indicating I give it. "My past is my own, my students know nothing and no one speaks of it to me." He nodded.
"It is easily arranged," he said. "Your room is ready and your things are there waiting for you." I nodded and watched as the door opened and a young woman smiled at me. "Welcome to the team." I only nodded at him before I left.
