~Duo's voices/delusions/whatever you wanna call em. Just inside his head which aren't conscious thoughts.~

Thanks for your time, and its back to Duo...

//Oh my God. My head hurts. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Wanna move. Can't. Hurts. Wanna go to sleep... Better not... Where am I?\\

Duo awoke and, once the fuzzy realm of unconsciousness had semi cleared, he realised he was lying in an uncomfortable position on a stone floor. He tried to open his eyes but saw nothing.

//Right three options: one I'm blind, two its pitch black in here or three I'm blindfolded. I vote number three. Tied goes with blindfolded, let me see...\\

Duo tried to separate his hands and couldn't.

//Yup bound and blindfolded. Joy. There are two options with this situation, either I'm involved in some sick pervert's kinky bondage game or I'm a prisoner. Option two here is preferable. How can my head be hurting so much? If OZ have me I'm taking those cyanide capsules I keep tucked down my shoe. They're still there, that's good. I'm not sacrificing the mission for those arseholes...\\

Duo attempted to look up as he heard a door open. The room was silent except for the echoing sound of footsteps on stone that were slowly getting closer. Duo felt his heart begin to beat faster, and wondered why the hell he didn't have his cigarettes on him.

//Not that I could light it... leave me alone with my comfort items!! They might kill me but at least I'll die semi-sane!\\

The footsteps ceased, and judging by the sound of the person in front of him breathing, Duo reckoned that there was only about a foot between the shoes and his head.

//What's the point in all of this? One wrong move and he's gonna stomp my skull. That will not be pretty. Blood does not come off easily. Should I speak? Yeah why not! The worse he can do is kill me.\\

"Hey, you! Would you mind telling me where I am?"

The footsteps resumed, took one, two steps. Duo could now feel the person's shoes digging into his shoulder. The teenager began to shuffle a little, feeling uncomfortable as the hairs on the back of his neck began to stand on end. The captor laughed.

"It doesn't matter where you are, because you're never going to get out." The voice was cold and emotionless. Duo couldn't think of a witty retort at that point and so refused to answer. The stranger chuckled a little at the silence, and decided to break it himself. "Your friends are also in this room. Who would have thought that a bunch of kids could cause so much chaos? Not to worry, we have all five of you now, your little missions have come to an end. It's time to leave the war to the grown ups. Goodbye."

The footsteps resumed, although this time receding. The heavy metal door slammed back into place. The room was eerily silent, as the five prisoners were now aware of others in the room.

//So there are others. I wonder who they are. Are they all my age, or am I the youngest? Was it my fault that we were caught? Oh man, why the hell didn't I bring those cigarettes? This is really uncomfortable, I have to move. Damn it hurts to breathe, another few broken ribs I think. Nothing life threatening or I'd probably already be dead. Think that guy has gone now...\\

Duo carefully pulled his legs underneath him, shifted his body weight and rolled into a crouching position. As if taking the cue from him there were shuffles of movement from around the room. A strangely familiar groan came from what appeared to be the opposite side of the room. There was tension in the air, so thick that it was almost impossible to breathe.

//Who are these guys? Damn I need a smoke. Why doesn't anyone speak? There's no way anybody else could be as nervous as me. Oh fuck it, if noone else is going to I'll speak!\\

"Does anyone have a spare cigarette?"

//Oh how dumb am I? Great opening line Duo, almost as good as when you walked in on Heero in the shower! Please someone, kill me now! I'd save me a job anyway. On the up side I missed a physics test, so that's one less U for me.\\

There was the sound of somebody clearing their throat then spitting. //Ewwww gross!\\

"Duo? That can't be you can it?"

//What the fuck???\\

"Quatre? No fucking way man, is that you? No way do you have anything to do with this! Oh man I just can't handle this, this is so fucked up! Some for the love of God give me a cigarette!"

A cold, calculating voice echoed calmly from about two metres away, "Maxwell. Is that all you ever think about?"

//This has got to be one of my delusions deciding to take the piss.\\

"Yuy? This is all I fucking need. I'm stuck in a room with the two people that piss me off the most. I can't even see you to hit you. Who else is here? Are you guys real or am I having voices again?"

//I can't cope, where the hell are my tranquilisers? Need my fucking blades. At least then I could untie myself before I bled. Shit! I'm stuck in a room with Heero 'I'm so perfect' Yuy and Quatre the camp violinist. Shinigami come and rescue me!\\

Yet again the silence prevailed. A few grunts came from the direction that Heero's voice had emerged from before. A ripping of cloth signalled that he had broken the ties around his wrists. Footsteps approached Duo and he felt Heero's firm grip untying the ropes which bound him. Heero removed Duo's blindfold and stared into the intoxicating violet eyes for a split second than was necessary.

"Hn, you should be okay. You dropped these."

Heero dropped a silver box into Duo's lap. Duo realised he was still in the crouching position and sat down with his back against the wall. Heero had moved on but Duo continued to follow the boy with his eyes as he worked his way around the other three prisoners.

//I could watch that arse all day. Ahh, sweet nicotine, you've never failed me!\\

The next to be freed was Quatre, and although the room was dark he could make out the messy blonde hairstyle. Then the quiet, studious Chinese boy was released. He flexed his hands and nodded a thankyou. The last person in the room was still unconscious, but it was still and easy figure to recognise. It was Quatre's boyfriend, Trowa.

//Right, the chances of all five Gundam pilots being roomies yet being unaware of each others missions... I cant be bothered calculating it. Very small to say the least. It had to have been a trap.\\

Duo took a long drag on his cigarette and exhaled slowly. Heero had returned to his spot not far from Duo's feet.

//The fact is that we're all here. We have all failed our missions. We are prisoners. It doesn't matter that Heero is the sexiest guy on earth, or that I'm crazy, or that Quatre whines... it all boils down to us finding a way of getting out of here. Oh fuck no. Not now, come on Duo don't flip out here. Fight it, come on you're too strong for th...\\

~The room began to fade away into a white mist. Duo found himself in a room, not unlike the one his mind had just left, although the walls were covered in blood and bodies lay across the floor. Some people were still hanging on to their lives by a thread and some groaned intermittently.~

Duo didn't feel the cigarette slip from between his fingers, or the pain that should have appeared when his head fell backwards and hit the stone wall.

~A person materialised in front of him, dressed in bloodstained clothing. He looked down at himself with a look of horror.

"What have you done? This is your doing Maxwell, all you. Pretending that you're all this, that your existence matters. All you do is destroy things. You killed the only people who ever cared about you. Shinigami is right, you are the God of Death. Only this isn't a game any more. You're not running around on the streets of the colonies any more. This is real!"~

Duo screamed. His voice echoed around the room and Heero rushed over to him. Duo's body began to shake as he lost any form of control. Heero wrapped his arms around the shaking boy and tried to support him. Quatre looked on with a look of pain on his face. Duo began to talk, but not in the normal sense, this was mindless agony that was flooding from the youth's mouth.

"Stop it! Stop it!! Leave me alone, no please, please. Don't hurt me. Don't... NOOOOOO!!!! STOP IT!!! GO AWAY!!! LEAVE ME ALONE!"

"Sshhh Duo, calm down, I won't hurt you. Who do you want to leave you alone? Tell me. Tell me how to stop it."

Duo's eyes flickered open for a second. He looked up into Heero's eyes, some form of recognition flashing over his features.

"Heero... I... I lov... I'm fine. Honestly I'm fine."

Duo's eyes closed again. His body continued to shake for a while before finally collapsing. His breathing finally steadied to a regular pattern and Heero closed his eyes. With a sigh he slowly lowered the boy onto the floor.

"I had no idea that he actually had any symptoms. Damn I can't even spot such an obvious case of mental illness! I'm a fool."

Wufei, the Chinese boy, spoke for the first time,

"We all thought he was making it up Heero. Don't beat yourself up. He could even be faking it now. He is not worthy of being a Gundam pilot."

"Stop it both of you! Can't you see that this doesn't matter any more? He may not have been part of our group this morning but he is now. We owe it to him. Imagine having to survive this long alone, do you think we would all still be alive if it wasn't for us meeting up that time?"

Quatre's comment stunned the conscious pilots into silence, and after a few seconds they came to a mutual unspoken agreement to think about what the hell to do next...
