Life Filled With Love
#6 in the Rainy Day Man Series
By Angel Love
Author's notes: This is the last chapter of this series. This is little snippets of their life together. I thought this was an excellent way to put a final spin at this love story.
Standard disclaimers apply. I don't own Gundam Wing or 'I Could Not Ask For More'
~ Lying here with you
Listening to the rain ~
Relena lay with her head on her new husband's chest, listening to the soft rain in outside. She wondered why it always seemed that rain seemed to be an ever-present thing in their lives. He first came to her in the rain, they crossed a large distance to get to each other in the rain, made love countless times in it, played in it, and now on the first day of her honeymoon it was raining once again.
He was obviously thinking the same thing because his quiet voice filled her thoughts. "It would seem that I will be your 'Rainy Day Man' even here."
She grinned up at him and gave him a quick kiss. "I can't think of any one I would rather spend a day in bed with, listening to the rain."
His emerald eyes softened as he looked at her, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Neither can I." Then he pulled her down to him, their mouths meeting to start their passionate dance once more.
~ Smile just to see the smile upon your face
These are the moments I thank God that I'm alive ~
Relena and Catherine walked into the tent where Trowa was working with the lions. Both girls watched him in silence, afraid to break his concentration in fear that one of the lions would attack. Not that they ever did, the former pilot seemed to have a bond with these animals that no one else could understand or fathom.
Catherine was beckoned to by one of the other circus performers and she left Relena standing there alone with a wink and a mouthed promise that she would be back soon.
Trowa looked up when he saw his sister leave. His eyes quickly found Relena leaning against one of the poles watching him. He gave her a smile just so she would give him one in return. She didn't disappoint him. He was soon awarded with her 100-watt smile, which made his heart flip over in his chest.
~ And these are the moments I'll remember all my life
I've found all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more ~
Relena was sitting in a meeting, a rather boring meeting. She fought the urge to lean against her hand and go to sleep. She glanced outside and could barely see the circus tents from the window. She barely stifled the sigh that tried to escape her lips.
She would much rather be with Trowa doing anything instead of listening to a bunch of old men drone on and on about which one of them owned which harbor, or which one thought the other had more power than they deserved.
There was a knock at the door and Heero walked in the room. With a glare directed at everyone, making him or her feel awed and a bit uncomfortable to be in the presence of the well-known gundam pilot. He looked at her with a smirk and a twinkle of humor in his eyes. He leaned close to her and whispered in her ear, "Someone wishes for you to smile."
Relena looked up at Heero with a bit of confusion, then a smile of delight touched her face when he slipped a pink carnation in her hands, hidden from the rest of the group. "Trowa," she sighed with a smile, looking down at the flower.
When she looked back up Heero was gone but she knew that he and Trowa weren't very far away. So she continued the meeting this time a smile adorned her face, making the delegates feel humbled in her presence and dropping most of their petty squabbles.
~ Looking in your eyes
Seeing all I need ~
The whole group was having a party, celebrating the engagement of Duo and Hilde. Relena was talking quietly with her brother and Noin, who they themselves were discussing the idea of getting married. She suddenly felt a pair of arms wrap around her from behind.
She sighed as his quiet voice sent shivers down her spine. "Dance with me."
She nodded and let him led her to the floor, where Duo and Hilde were already dancing, gazing at each other like lovesick teenagers. He twirled her around then brought her close to him, their eyes locking together.
In their year and a half marriage the love and passion had not died. They still got lost in each other's eyes and felt the passion and desire sweep through them with just a look from the other.
~ Everything you are is everything in me
These are the moments
I know heaven must exist ~
Relena's angry voice echoed in the halls causing Heero and Catherine to wince, wondering just what it was that Trowa had done to anger the Vice-Minister so. They soon got their answer as the couple suddenly appeared in front of them.
"Damn it, Trowa Barton! You could have had at least told me that Preventers was calling you in for an assignment!" She yelled as she followed him into the room. "But you let me hear about it when I see the papers come across my desk!"
Trowa abruptly turned, not even noticing that they had an audience, and grasped her shoulders, his quiet voice filled with guilt. "I know I should have, Relena. But I was afraid that you would get upset that I was going."
She punched him in the chest lightly, already loosing the anger that she felt, and rested her head on his chest. "I am afraid, but I would have at least liked to have known."
He wrapped his arms around her, offering her his strength. "I'm sorry."
She looked up and his lips met hers, the passion flaring as they made up. He quickly picked her up and headed upstairs.
Catherine turned to look at Heero, the man just recently becoming her boyfriend, and smiled. "You know sometimes I think those two get into fights just to make up."
Heero chuckled, linking his fingers through hers. "Maybe."
~ And these are the moments
I know all I need is this ~
Trowa was stepping out of the shower when he suddenly felt a pair of arms wrap around him from behind. He groaned when he felt his wife gently nip at his back and make her way around his side to nip him a few more times on his chest before giving him a sultry grin.
He raised an eyebrow. "What are you up to, Mrs. Barton?"
Her grin only widened. "I was just wondering if I could take advantage of your state of undress and convince you to make love to me." As she spoke her hands slid lower and lower, causing his flesh to quiver under her fingers.
Trowa closed his eyes, sucking in a breath. His entire body was responding to her gentle touches. "I am only too willing," he whispered, then gently slid her robe off of her and pushed her up against the wall and made love to her.
~ I've found all I've waited for, yeah
And I could not ask for more ~
Relena looked across the candlelit table at her husband. The soft strands of a country song by Sara Evens filled the air. She sighed at the words knowing that Trowa meant every one of them. Her eyes shined brightly with the love she felt for him.
He slid out of his chair and knelt next to hers, kissing her hands. "Relena, thank you for the last several years. I have never dreamed I could ever feel this much about anyone. I couldn't imagine my life without you."
Tears of joy slid down her cheeks as she wrapped her arms around him. "I love you too, Trowa," she whispered.
~ I could not ask for more than this time together
I could not ask for more than this time with you ~
Trowa and Relena danced gracefully at the reception of her brother and Noin's wedding. The two finally deciding to marry after several jabs from the g-gang that they were never going to and they would never have kids. Relena suspected that Noin was already pregnant though. She had seen the way the other woman rubbed her belly and the way that Milliardo would place a hand over hers on it and get a certain look in his eyes.
Trowa nuzzled her ear breaking her train of thoughts. She moaned and arched into him causing him to chuckle. "If you keep doing that we will have to leave early."
She grinned up at him. "As much as I would like that, I want to stay right here in your arms."
Trowa smiled down at her, pulling her more firmly against him as his heart swelled at her words.
~ And every prayer has been answered
Every dream I've had's come true ~
Trowa was playing with his infant nephew on the grass in front of his and Relena's mansion. His wife had been right when she suspected that her brother was going to have a child. Five months after the elder Peacecraft married, they welcomed Lorenzo Peacecraft in the world.
Relena was watching them from a short distance away, seated on a blanket in the grass with her tired sister-in-law.
"He's great with kids," Noin mused, leaning back soaking in the sun.
"I know," Relena beamed with pride about her husband.
"Have you thought about having kids?" the other woman asked.
As Trowa met her eyes in silent question, she smiled softly and whispered, "Yes."
~ Yeah, right here in this moment
Is right where I'm meant to be
Here with you here with me
Yeah ~
Trowa and Relena sat cuddled in front of the tent at his circus. He was wearing his clown costume since he and Catherine had just finished their act.
As the other members of the circus went by they smiled at the all too common sight of Relena relaxing in Trowa's arms. The Princess of the Sanc did this after every time she saw the knife-throwing act. It was almost as if she needed to reassure herself that he was still with her.
"Trowa," she said a little dreamily.
"Hm?" he responded, never stopping the gentle soothing motions on her back.
She whispered something in his ear and his responding hoot of joy was heard throughout the circus, surprising many people who knew the silent man.
~ These are the moments I thank God that I'm alive
And these are the moments I'll remember all my life ~
Trowa stared at the image on the screen before him with an awed expression, for a moment unable to say or do anything except stare at that screen.
"Trowa?" Relena asked softly, tugging on his hand.
He looked down at her with tears brimming in his eyes. "I don't know what to say," he admitted sheepishly.
Relena grinned up at her husband and turned to look at the monitors that showed the growth of their babies in her belly, and nodded slowly. "I know just what you mean."
~ I've found all I've waited for, yeah
And I could not ask for more ~
Trowa held Relena's hand in his own, talking softly to her, gently caressing her sweaty face as she pushed with all her might.
She gave him a small smile, followed quickly by a glare when the contraction was over. "If I didn't love you so much I would hit you for this."
He grinned at her, understanding her urge to beat him. "You can hit me all you want later. Here comes another one."
She moaned as the pain hit her and began to push again, this time an ear-piercing scream filled the air.
~ I could not ask for more than this time together
I could not ask for more than this time with you ~
Relena's final scream and push was heard by the entire group that waited out in the waiting room. Catherine sent Heero a glare. "We are never having kids," she threatened.
He grinned at her, knowing that it was an empty threat. "We'll see."
Hilde smiled at Duo. "I can't wait," she purred, patting her very large belly. She was due any day now.
Duo rubbed her belly possessively and gave her his trademark grin. "Neither can I, babe."
Wufei rolled his eyes before he spared a glance at his own girlfriend, Sally. She just winked at him and he felt a smile tug on his lips in response.
Dorothy squeezed Quatre's hand, giving her husband a smile. They too were trying to have a child and couldn't wait to share in the joy of the moment.
Milliardo peeked down at his sleeping toddler, nestled in his wife's arms and gave a big grin. There was nothing like family to sooth a man's soul.
~ And every prayer has been answered
Every dream I've had's come true ~
Within minutes of each other the Barton twins were born. The first was a little boy, who they named Trey Gabriel. The second was a little girl they named Rena Marie.
Trowa sat on the bed watching in awe as Relena nursed the children, which had taken a bit of talent and patience on the nurse's part to help her figure out. She smiled up at him, as the little boy unlatched himself. "Want to hold him?"
His eyes were wide, as he looked first at her then at his son. Then he gently picked his son up in his arms, cradling him to him, gazing down at him in awe. Trey yawned and looked up at him with bright blue eyes for a moment before closing them. The infant snuggled into him and went to sleep.
Trowa had tears in his eyes when he looked down at his exhausted wife. He noted that Rena was already sleeping peacefully next to her mother.
Relena gave him a tired but tender smile, awed by her husband holding his son. "I love you," she said softly.
He leaned forward and kissed her lips. "I love you too. Thank you."
~ Yeah, right here in this moment
Is right where I'm meant to be
Oh, here with you here with me ~
Trowa awoke to hear a soft voice singing a lullaby. He rolled out of bed and walked into the nursery to see his wife gently rocking both of their one month old children in the rocking chair, singing softly to them.
She looked up at him when she felt his presence and gave him a small smile, then went back to what she was doing, completely content and secure under his watchful gaze.
He watched in amazement as both children slowly closed their eyes and went to sleep, nuzzled against their mother's chest, secure in her warmth. He moved silently into the room and helped her get them back into their cradles without waking them up.
He took her into his arms and held her to him. Once again overwhelmed by how much one woman could affect him so much.
Relena sighed as she leaned into his familiar embrace. She didn't realize that she started dozing until he picked her up and laid her in their bed. She smiled softly at him then curled up against his side and drifted off to sleep, while he watched her with soft emerald eyes.
~ No, I could not ask for more
Than this love you gave me
Cause it's all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more ~
Trowa and Relena sat in front of the circus tent, watching Heero play with their two-year-old children. Trey had light brown hair but the most beautiful sky-blue eyes. Rena had her mother's golden hair that curled slightly and her father's intense emerald eyes. Both children's giggles made them smile. But her daughter's "Uwcle Hewo" brought a grin to Relena's face.
Trowa pulled Relena closer to him and nuzzled her neck, satisfied when she gave a soft moan and let her head fall back to give him better access. "What do you say to making more of those?" he said low, his voice rumbling in her ears.
She grinned up at him, tracing his face with her hands. "Hmm, it is an interesting proposition." She gave him a lingering kiss, sliding her hands down his pants. "I don't know about more, but I do know I would love to do something along those lines."
Trowa gave her a growl and swiftly picked her up and headed towards the trailer that they used. "As you wish, my Princess."
