Warning: uhm... this part will be a little confusing, OOC, maybe blood ahead >_< and some violence
Pairings: none
Disclaimer: Characters don't belong to me. Story does, some facts are based on great books I've deciphered from.
Author's note:
I know I'm not good at writing fanfics, I'm so... 'expressionless'. It's very hard for me to express, but I'll try to keep it original and easy in this story.
Anyways, I hope this one is going to turn out fine -_-'.
The beginning of this fic is quite confusing... I couldn't think of any other so I came up with this one so that I can try to write some action for a change ^_^
-------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------
The room was dark; I couldn't see what's ahead of me. But I can smell. Something crimson, something gross... something or someone was dead in that room where my friend, agent Hilde, was leading me. I can feel my hair on my neck standing on end when we entered the room. The smell was creeping through my nostrils whether I like it or not... it was unbearable, a slight headache ventured through my skull and I tried to suppress the need of wanting to gag.
I've no idea why Hilde was leading me without a word, she just called me that there was another one... in a flat tone which even confuses me. Hilde only use her voice in a flat tone when something very serious was up, but she would always tell me what was wrong. This time something tells me that Hilde wasn't going to tell me until we reach to the final destination. I know whenever I should keep my mouth shut if Hilde's not in a good mood... not that I'm afraid of her, it's just the fact that I'm quite aware what she can do before you can count your seconds till death.
The smell was getting stronger; the room was highlighted by moonlight, which crept from its hidden place to appear above our heads when it was nighttime. For a while my eyes were trying to adjust the dimly-lighten room. Walking through the darkness for about a few minutes, now it's the time to let my eyes work on dim light.
Hilde just walked straight forward to a covered thing. I looked around the room; it was not your every day majestic room to be NOT decorated. It doesn't have any luxurious wallpapers or paintings. It seems like a normal bedroom with just average carpets and average majestic bed. Then there it was...
I was quite struck in astonishment when I saw strange tiny silver stars on the walls.
Silver stars?? What are those doing there? The silver stars were connected to one another and were forming some kind of circle upon the West sidewall. My eyes widened, it's definitely if I'm not mistaking, it's a magical barrier. Either one of the three most powerful magic circles or barriers. There were also two other circles of silver stars... on the floor. One was incorporated in the other.
Perfect! Now I wonder who's this stupid to even make all three of the magic circles since wall circles are quite dangerous among magic users either they're uneducated or highly educated in their years of learning the basics of magic circles. This dumbass must be some outsider, thinking that silver circles made out of stars are quite pretty to be admired. I should have known that this guy whose house Hilde and I were is such a dumbass. I don't blame him for not knowing the dangers what these three magical circles can do if the user is doing something of the Unknown.
Then there's this murder. There was blood splattered across the floor and the walls. Something or someone must have taken his or her time to kill the victim. The signs of how the blood was splattered across were proof that the victim was either killed mercilessly or out of hunger. The last one seems too suspicious.
I noticed Hilde was studying me while I was looking around, trying to get every information or any noticeable notes into my head.
Her eyes were hard, too creepy for me to look straight at her dark pools. Not that she wasn't attractive. Now that I noticed something behind her... a bloodied blanket. My curiosity took over as I slowly walked towards the bloodied space. This area had more blood than either sides of this huge bedroom, so indeed... the victim was here.
The smell of a dead was getting stronger, the thick red liquid was soaking through the blanket, dirtying its wonderful white silk. There's indeed someone dead instead of an IT. I could feel Hilde's eyes on my back as I walked slowly towards the body, which was swimming on its owner blood.
I swallowed hard and felt something hard on my stomach. It's an unpleasant scene, but somehow... Hilde's silence answered my questions why I needed to check the body.
There I stood; face squirmed as I slowly lift the bloodied blanket. I wanted to see who was the victim and something sharp struck me in the heart. I felt my hands tremble when I saw who was there... right there. My head was spinning, my lips tried to keep my voice down, I don't want to scream... I don't want to yelp... I don't want to cry. My voice was iced before I could even speak or cry out. The blanket fell down... my eyes are stinging.
My flesh crawled as a cold wind made its way through my usual long trench coat. It bit on my flesh and even so... I felt myself sweating. It is she who died or killed. I couldn't recognize her, but by how her hair was decorated I'm sure it was she. Mariemaia [1]. My student. Her face was half bitten and her throat was like cut open by a wild beast.
The flesh has somehow pulled inside out, her neck bone was crumpled and pulled loose, so it was either sticking out of her throat or still in its place supporting the head bone, which seems unlikely. Her skin was scratched open I presume, by the looks of the deep lines on her skin. Her clothes were mostly drenched with her blood and torn. Her eyes, her beautiful mint-green eyes [2], were all torn out. You can just tell by the eyeholes... yes, her whole thin skin was torn away from her face, revealing her bones and and some left over face muscles. Most of them are gone.
How? I most likely think it must have been the same beast that did the same two weeks ago. Why is it doing these kind of things? For blood? That's not close to what I meant it to be.
What is out there? A slight hint would be just about the full moon... so this should have been the work of some shape shifter who can only turn into a beast on full moons. What about the magic circles? He couldn't have made it himself unless he got some help from a magic user.
Mariemaia... I gasped, so you wanted this all along. That day... that day when you took me to have lunch... you wanted to know about the circles. You... I glanced briefly at the silver circles. Some stars were quite misplaced and some weren't even showing any signs of having shone for a few hours ago. They must have been broken during your usage of completing the barriers. You wanted to help him... I can't believe it. And I tried to protect you from going straight towards that direction of using magic.
I knew you were too weak to keep the barrier... you wanted to help him. I'd done a good work, keeping you away from those circles... but why do you have to be here? Dead. Circles. You don't know much of the dangers what this circle can bring... but on the other hand, some of the stars disappeared? Someone must have known a way to break through the barrier...
"Do you know her?" Hilde's voice, in a flat tone, snapped me from my swarming thoughts.
"Hilde, I..." I replied, casting my eyes towards hers. My eyes were quite watered as I miss being with a friend. I wanted to tell her, I wanted a friend to listen to my decision when I refused Mariamaia's request to show her how to make the wall circle. I wanted someone to tell me that everything was going to be all right, something heavy was being placed on top of my heart. I wanted to tell her... now I felt like a hole through my stomach, Hilde will surely understand, will she?
Her eyes was flaring with rage, I can sense it. Her eyes were showing a very dangerous glint of anger. I couldn't bring myself to look through her eyes. She stomped forward, while squinting her lips. There was something coming up... she wants to do something, but what...? I can't sense human actions from the near future...
Hilde's fist caught me off guard. She'd slammed a powerful hit to my stomach. The air was knock out of my body, I winced... surprised by the sudden attack. Her eyes were now flaring more dangerously and she slammed her fist across my face. Hilde's fists are quite powerful depending on her mood. In this case, she's furious.
I was struck hard on several occasions but not like this. Hilde grabbed my hair and threw me towards the wall and gave me one of her powerful kneeing in my stomach. I grasped for dear life as I felt my ribs breaking...
"YOU PROMISED!!! YOU PROMISED YOU WOULDN'T HIDE ANYTHING FROM ME!! YOU PROMISED!!" She shouted and began to punch me in the ribs, harder than before I presume and repeatedly... I lost count how many times she'd hit me.
She didn't give me time to breath normally, I winced a few times... I'd almost screamed out when she kneed again. I was slammed to the floor, face on the floor... sweat trickling down my face. Even if it was cold I still feel that I was sweating.
I panted and coughed out blood. It's not a pretty sight... lying on my own cough out blood.
"Lay low... I'd trusted you with that promise, now you're going to get it! No one plays me for a fool! Not even you!" Hilde's tone was icy.
I felt her sitting on my back, knee against the back of my neck and fingers still grabbing my hair.
I panted, trying to decipher everything she'd said. A click sound came from my back. She had her gun pointed at the back of my head. This pain stung my heart; it was more than just physical. It was more mental, I lost a friend in the attempt of keeping her away from magic circles like those, and now I lost my friendship and trust from another friend.
I could have explained, but who am I to tell her? She would likely not believe me. Besides she's right... I shouldn't have kept that away from Hilde. I shouldn't have kept this away from her. But it already happened. No use crying, no use going back to the past. What is done is done. What is not is not.
In this case, what's not done is capturing this beast whoever he might be. I felt Hilde had cuffed me and she did it roughly too. I sighed as I tried not to wince at the sudden pain, which struck me again when Hilde's knee was deepening its way on my back.
"I should have done this a long time..." Hilde's icy tone rang through my ears I squirmed. My heart sunk deeper in the hole of depression and sorrow...

Notes:
1: I couldn't think of anyone other than her ;_; I'm not bashing her. I like her too.
2: I'm quite confused whether her eyes are mint-green or crystal blue. Can anyone tell me?
Okay, what do you think? I know the violence warning isn't necessary since it's not that highly described. Just a few elements slamming someone. This is one of the person's POV; I hope you can guess who he might be. I'll go into details next chapters, starting from a good beginning. And I'll try to keep it original. If not... well, than you've to stay around for the next chapter ^_^.
