Rest In Peace
Chapter 7: Chain of Murders Begins

"You know, you've got a willing slave
And you just love to play the thought like you might
misbehave
But 'til you do
I'm telling you
Stop visiting my grave
And let me rest in peace" -Spike

Rashid and his thirty-nine men reach Quatre before
Wufei's group did and informs him of the news.
Meanwhile, Tybalt is selling the jars to various black
market collectors and making a fortune.

"Oh Allah." Quatre sighs. "Things are getting more
interesting by the minute."

"What do you wish for us to do? We have failed our
duty." Rashid says, bowing his head in shame.

"I want you to be security in the restaurant. If the
prophecies that your prophet foretold long ago are
correct. Allah save us all." Quatre says. "I will be
expecting my friends' arrival. Find a place to stay."

"As you will it to be." Rashid says, bowing before
leaving.

"When will you inform them of your doings?" Trowa
asks.

"Perhaps, now is a time to come clean." Quatre
replies.

"I shall wait for them by the gates to guide them to
you." Trowa says.

"A storm is brewing, be careful." Quatre says. "I
don't want to lose anyone."

"You're heart is too kind." Trowa says, leaving the
room.

"But I am a coward to not admiting to my feelings."
Quatre sighs.

As Trowa approaches the gate, he arrives just in time
to see Wufei's party come in.

"Glad to see you Tro." Duo greets, getting off his
camel. "What's up?"

"Master Quatre would like to see you all, preferably
before the sandstorm hits." Trowa replies.

"What sandstorm?" Skids asks.

"The one behind you. We must hurry else we'll be
caught within it." Trowa says, hurrying back to the
restaurant.

Wufei glances back to see sand swirling in the harsh
winds. They race back to the restaurant right before
the sand hits. Trowa leads them to Quatre's office.
Quatre stands and faces them.

"I have a confession to make." Quatre says. "Although
my father didn't return from the expedition, he did
befriend the riders, the Maganacs. They worshiped
him, called him master. When he died, I, as heir,
became their new master. I told them to make sure you
came back alive."

"You rigged it." Wufei accuses. "You made sure we
would return alive."

"Yes. And that's not the only thing. I lied that
there would be no stopping the end of the world once
the tomb was opened and the spirit released. Long
ago, the Maganacs had a prophet who foretold the day
Allen would arise once more. It was said that once he
finds his beloved and is with her again, his rein of
terror will be over. Since Allen has awaken, we need
a way to send to the afterlife to see his precious
Tabitha once more." Quatre states.

"Then it was inevitable that we would open his tomb.
It was fated to be." Cyanide says.

"Yes. The prophet charged the Maganacs to keep the
opening from happening because although the
foretelling spoke of a way around the end of the
world, it is still too unstable to rely on." Quatre
says. "That is why they turn many adventurers away
before they could arrive to the tomb. Sometimes they
voluntarily lead them around the desert and making
them lost and leave them there to die."

"So what do we do now?" Harley asks.

"Wufei, I would like for you and Skids to find a way
to get Allen into the afterlife." Quatre requests.

"Consider it done. We'll do our best." Wufei says
leaving with Skids.

"I'll help too. Since it was my fault." Cyanide says,
joining them.

"That's fine." Quatre says, watching Cyanide run to
catch up to Wufei and Skids. "Seems like someone has
a crush on someone else."

"You should have seen him during the ride there. I
swear there was drool ponds." Duo states.

"Wufei'll have his hands full." Trowa remarks.

"Another thing we have to worry about is the jars of
Allen's insides." Quatre says. "And the book buried
with him. Since Rashid has warned me about the coming
of Allen, I assumed someone opened the book."

"Yeah, it got opened. Then Tybalt took it and the
jars while we were busy conversing with Rei." Mikhael
informs him.

"Rei?" Quatre asks.

"Yeah, she's Tabitha's mother. She kept complaining
why her lover Hiei went to Kurama. She went on and on
about that." Duo adds.

"Stranger and stranger." Trowa comments.

"Indeed." Quatre agrees. "We must be careful. Since
Allen is free from his imprisonment, he will be
looking for the jars to complete himself."

"What does the book hold?" Harley asks.

"Him." Quatre replies.

"Huh?" everyone asks.

"The book holds his powers as well as his memories.
His memories are very powerful. He could remember the
spell to end the world in an instant and recreate it
in his own image. At all costs, we must keep the book
away from him." Quatre states.

"And just our luck that Tybalt has it. He might have
even sold it along with the jars for all we know." Duo
says.

"Thanks for the voice of optimism." Harley says
sarcastically.

"You're very welcome." Duo throws back.

A sharp knock interrupts them. Quatre beckons Trowa
to open it. Trowa obeys and they find Rashid standing
in the doorway with a grim statement.

"What is it Rashid?" Quatre asks.

"Master Quatre, terrible news I'm afraid." Rashid
says. "The gossipers have caught scent and we now
have two confirmed dead."

"Do you know what happened? It could just be robbers
killing their target." Quatre says.

"Nay Master Quatre. Rumor is that they bough jars
from a dealer named Tybalt O'Donnel." Rashid says.
"That and those dead have missing body parts. One was
missing their eyes, the other their brain."

"Does the grapevine say anything about the book?"
Quatre asks.

"Nay. No one has mentioned any book being sold from
Mr. O'Donnel." Rashid reports. "I dare suspect that
he's keeping the book for himself."

"Just how many more kills does our local mummy have to
do to be whole?" Duo asks.

"There's one for the brain, stomach, intestines,
liver, kidneys, eyes, heart, lungs..." Mikhael lists
off.

"Ugh! Geeze! I didn't want a list of what's in
them!" Duo says, going green.

Quatre chuckles, "I'd say about six other kills."

"Oh yeah, since he was tossed into that sarcophagus
alive, some bits of him would have been left within
him to feed the scarabs even more." Mikhael deduces.

Quatre nods. "So be on the lookout for anyone
carrying the jars or Tybalt."

Harley and Mikhael clings to each other in remembrance
of the leers they got from Tybalt.

Heero remarks dryly, "I doubt we'll be looking for
him. He'll come to us."

"Oh?" Quatre asks, curious.

"He's been giving Harley and Mikhael lusty looks ever
since he laid eyes on them." Duo informs him.

"Well, then, does he know they're temporary? Or else
Wufei will have another thing on his platter." Quatre
comments.

"When Wufei held Heero and I back from joining the
fight with Tybalt against the Maganacs, Wufei stated
that we're his slaves, even if it is temporary. I
think Tybalt will come looking for the seller of
Harley and Mikhael." Duo says.

Harley grimaces, "Yay, how delightful. Something I
was looking forward to."

"Don't worry. He still has to apply for you.
Everyone does. Then I go through the selection
process." Quatre reassures him. "Go get some rest.
I'll see you guys bright and early in the morning."
