Chapter 6
Back on the road, Duo was once again driving. Every once in a while he would shift uncomfortably in his seat. Heero watched him openly, smirking because he knew why Duo's ass hurt.
Duo saw Heero looking at him and grinned. Things seemed to be going his way lately. He had Quatre to play with, and if he did things right he'd have a partner to enjoy the victims with too. He wondered if Heero was
the cold blooded murderer type, or if he enjoyed toying with his victims before killing them. Well, no better way but to ask.
"So, how did you do it, Heero?"
"How did I do what?"
"How did you kill your mom's boyfriend?"
Heero blinked and the smirk disappeared. He'd hoped Duo hadn't been paying attention to that radio announcer. "I.. he died quickly, from a head wound."
Hmm. Heero was facing the window now, avoiding looking at him. Had that been his first murder? Duo knew he
could teach Heero to enjoy his victims. He could show Heero how draw out their pain, make them last until he was ready for them to die an artful death. Duo looked forward to telling Heero about his previous victims, maybe see if Heero knew any torturing techniques...
Heero stared blankly out the window. Duo asking him flat out like that had caught him off-guard. Now he kept remembering the horrified look on Jack's face as he realized he couldn't keep himself from falling. The look of pure hatred from his own mother. All the blood, pooling on the hardwood floor, seeping into his pantleg. Heero shuddered.
"Hey, Heero."
"Hn?"
"I wanna show you something." Duo pulled over to the side of the road. Getting out of the car, he motioned for Heero to follow. Heero climbed out and walked around the car to stand by Duo. Duo smiled and latched onto Heero's hand. Raising his arm, he pointed at a nearby mountain range.
"My grandfather built a cabin up there years ago. That's where I've been heading. It's the only place I have to go, I don't have any other family."
Heero looked at Duo curiously. "Is it ok if I go there too? I don't exactly have anywhere else to go either, and you shouldn't be there by yourself if you don't have to be."
Duo smiled wickedly at Heero. "Oh, I wasn't going to be alone, though you're certainly welcome to join me. Here, let me show you something else!"
Heero let Duo pull him towards the back of the car. What had h meant by not being alone? Was he meeting
someone at the cabin? He watched as Duo pulled the car keys from his pocket and unlocked the trunk. He gasped as Duo opened the lid, revealing a pale boy.
Duo smiled affectionately down at the sleeping Quatre. "Isn't he beautiful?"
"Who is he?" Heero was too stunned to move. The boy was tied and gagged, and was apparently unconscious.
"His name is Quatre Winner. It wasn't as much as a challenge to get him as I thought it would be."
"Is he... asleep?"
"Well, I haven't drugged him since the night I picked you up, so he isn't drugged. He must have gotten tired
of listening to us fuck." Duo reached into the trunk and brushed his fingers through Quatre's hair, traced over
his lips.
Heero blushed, suddenly embarassed. He watched Duo warily. Duo didn't seem like the kidnapping type. "Why... why do you have him?"
Duo turned to Heero, still holding his hand. As he talked he rubbed his thumb back and forth over the back of Heero's hand. "Actually, I'm not really sure why. I just, get this mad rush when I think about capturing someone. That and I like to see just how much someone can take before they break. Yanno, I don't think his family even knows he's gone. There haven't been any news stories about him being missing. He thinks that I'm waiting for his father to pay a ransom. It's going to be fun telling him the truth."
Heero appeared calm on the outside but inside, he was totally freaking out. /What have I gotten myself into?!/ He somehow knew that if Duo thought he was a threat, he'd be joining Quatre in the trunk. That wouldn't help either of them. He had to think of a way to get them both out of there without Duo getting suspicious. /Why is Duo telling me all of this?/
Duo brought Heero's hand to his lips and kissed his fingertips. "We're going to have a lot of fun together, you and I. C'mon, we should get going." Releasing Heero's hand, Duo closed the trunk and locked it again before heading back to the driver's seat. Heero did the only thing he could, and climbed back into his seat.

Trowa's heard a beeping noise coming from the back of his Jeep. Pulling over, he turned and grabbed his laptop case to pull it to the front seat. Setting it down in the passenger seat, he opened the lid and brought up the tracking program. He'd watched the beeper man carefully to learn how to track pager. Afterwards, it was ridiculously simple to program that feature into his own program, using Quatre's own beeper as a tracking device.
He'd set the program to analyze the path Quatre was taking, and the beeping meant it had come to some conclusions. Scrutinizing the caculations, he brought up a map of the area and added the new input. A red line
appeared to mark the path the beeper had gone, and blue lines marked the possible paths it could be heading.
Trowa found where he was and placed a yellow dot to mark where he was.
Looking at the blinking red dot, he realized it had stopped recently once again before continuing. The most likely paths seemed to be either following the highway to the next state, or possibly going into the mountains. To him, the mountains seemed the more likely route. By now Quatre's father had notified the authorities and had the state border being watched.
Trowa pulled out the map the man had given him. Comparing it to the readings he was getting now, he could see that he was gradually gaining on Quatre.
/Hold on, Quatre, I'm coming as fast as I can./
