Chapter 2

Not mine! Not mine! Not mine! Not mine! Not mine! (I think you guys get the idea right?)

Bold = Lyrics

God if I could recognize

The things to make me whole again

And draw this air into my lungs

Remember how to breathe

And as fortune would have it, Duo was in the kitchen.

"Hey Trowa!" He yelled in typical Duo style. "You want somethin' to eat? We got pancakes, toast, eggs, bacon, ham, hashbrowns and ramen. What would you like?"

"Just some coffee would be fine. Thank you, Duo." //'Thank you'? Where'm I getting this from?// "I would also like you to help me with something. "

"Sure! No prob! What is it?" He asked, setting my coffee in front of me.

"It's about Heero.."

"Sure! Heero! A hero is someone who helps people. I guess you could call me a hero for helping you right now…" He babbled on.

"That's not what I meant and you know it!" I yelled. He cringed and stepped back. "I'm sorry, I just want to know why he's been acting so weird lately."

I leaned back on my chair and groaned. //Why do they always have to be so difficult? All I want is a straight answer. Why is my lover being so hostile?! Arghh!//

"Trowa?" Duo asked carefully. "Why do you want to know about Heero? I mean he is your koi, shouldn't you guys know everything about each other already?"

"No." Hey, it was an honest answer. "I need you to tell me why he's been acting so hostile since our last mission."

"Well, alright, but you didn't hear it from me."

"I think it started when you said you had finished your job. He stepped back from the computer he was working on and he kinda…yelled."

"Yelled? What do you mean 'yelled'? Like screaming or just saying something loudly?" I asked.

"Like screaming something loudly at the top of his lungs. I couldn't catch all of it, but what I did near, sounded like some sort of curse. Like a swear word. It sounded like 'nikumu'. I think it means 'hatred'. Of what, you got me. I couldn't tell ya. After we all gathered in the control room again, he didn't say anything else. Not that I could hear anyway."

"Are you sure you didn't hear anything else? Like, why would Heero say 'hatred'? Sure, he hates things just like everyone else does, but why after I said I was finished? Does he hate me?" The words sounded like ash in my mouth. I couldn't believe I just said them.

"I'm pretty sure he didn't say anything else. But he did type something short on the computer at the base that I didn't catch. The only thing I saw on the screen was a name. Treize Khushrenada. You might want to go see him for your answers. Hey, Tro? This doesn't have anything to do with trying to give Heero those calming drugs, does it? I mean, you didn't tell him you had them did you?"

"I told him I had something that would help him sleep better. That's about all. Why?"

"Heero doesn't get along very well with people that try to change him. Just so you know."

"Oh. Well. I think I'd better go see Treize and see what he can tell me about this computer message."

"See ya later Tro. I got some things to do. Good luck!"

He left me with my conscience (and a heavy heart), and I sat there. I gave up trying to figure things out. I reached for the little red book that Quatre keeps all his numbers in, held my breath and dialed Treize's number.

For as the curtain rose I danced as I was able

Felt my deception slowly sinking in

Unfortunately, all I got was a busy signal. It figured. Just when I needed to talk to someone, they were busy. Shit. Just as I was going to get up, I heard a crash upstairs. "Heero!!" I yelled. I dropped the receiver and ran.

What I confronted when I opened the door shocked me into silence (1). There was noone there. Heero had broken the window and escaped. I knew I shouldn't have left him alone! Now he's gone and it's all my fault. Duo and Wufei came into the room to survey the cause of the noise. They looked quite disheveled, and I didn't want to know aht they had been doing. Quatre was no where in sight. He was probably recouperating…

"What happened here?!" Yelled Wufei. "I swear, if this was Maxwell's fault, he's dead!"

"Hey!" A disgruntled Duo said. "What makes you think I did this? I was with yo…uh, besides, it's in Trowa's room!"

"Yeah, but I didn't do it." I said, finally finding my voice again. "It was Heero. After he fell asleep, I left him here and went downstairs. I didn't think he'd try to get away. I have to find him, but where would he go?"

And so I turn to you my love

For the solace that is there

And offer any cherished thing

For a slight reprieve

I was completely stuck. Duo and Wufei went to check the local hangouts, but I knew he wouldn't be there. Where would a former military pilot go when he's hyped up on goofballs? The answer hit me just as I stepped out the front door. Who did Duo say Heero was typing to on that mission? Treize? Maybe he would run there. It was a long shot, but who really knew what Heero Yuy would be thinking when all of his friends were trying to change him? I raced to the car and left a cloud of dust in my wake. I had to find Heero before he hurt anyone. Or himself.

"I'm coming Heero!"

(1)~Like Trowa ever actually talked so much that one experience would shock him into silence. I just thought it sounded good there. //_~
