Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Taki Nobori ❯ Fukumen ( Chapter 1 )
Disclaimer: All right, let's get this straight. - I at no point will ever own Gundam Wing as it belongs to its wonderful creators and many different companies that have premiered and animated it. The only thing I own is a box of bubble gum and my warped sense of mind. And as much as I love the GW boys, I can only wish to have them at my beck-and-call.
Warnings: yaoi/shonen-ai (3x2/main, 12, 43, 52), ncs, angst, humor, romance; etc.
Summary: Having always hid behind a mask of a fool's grin and the ability to talk non-stop, Duo Maxwell is in for a roller coaster for his High School years to come. No one has ever penetrated is mask, not one. A feat he confidently prides himself on. That is until he meets one person who could.
Taki-Nobori: Chapter 1- Fukumen
By: Liz a.k.a-Kochiyami
(First Person POV)
I've always hid from everything, anything and everyone. I have never once shown any sort of emotion besides my well placed mask. Huh, my mask. I've perfected my 'mask' many years ago when I faced the many hardships of my earlier youth. I learned early on that showing such things as my emotions is a bad thing. I've obtained many memories from slipping such a weakness; none of the memories are pleasant. Really, all this mask is is nothing more than an over exaggerated fool's grin and the ability to talk non-stop anytime I could.
No one has ever penetrated it-a fact I'm extremely proud of. Not one person has really tried though, but I hardly doubt anyone would accomplish such a feat.
Hnh, I haven't told who I am, have I? Well, if you're all curious about such a thing then fine, I'll inform you.
My name is Duo Maxwell. I'm an orphan of 15 years of age and had just recently (about 9 months now) been adopted by a woman by the name of Kyomi Atanami. I have extremely long chestnut hair that I pull in a braid; it reaches to my thighs. My eyes are a unique color of amethyst and I have an extremely small build for my age, I'm at the grand total height of 5'2. My small build however, causes many problems for me. If someone were to look at me, most would think I was a girl from my short/small body and effeminate features. But the thing is I'm not, (I'm a boy damnit!).
One of my more confusing and mysterious features are these tattooed markings I've had since I was a baby. I have a total of 4 markings each on different parts of my body.
One marking is a somewhat headband looking tattoo of stars in a deep jet black on my forehead which is usually hidden behind my long bangs.
The second is a marking on my left ankle of a dark blue crescent moon and a small red star.
The third marking is on the top of my right hand with an intricate design of jet black and dark blue lines that I can't even tell what the drawing is.
And the last mark is a ring of raindrops encircling my navel. The markings only seem to 'add' to my feminine looks.
Kyomi and I just moved to Southern California, I don't really have to worry about schooling just yet 'cause it's still summer. She told me that I'd have to go to a high school within the area. I think it was called Jefferson High or something.
To tell the truth, I've never once had any friends, just acquaintances. I never did like anyone to be close. I would always push them away when they tried to; I never once failed at doing so. This usually caused other people to scoff at me. I always became the school's outcast. At my old schools everyone did their best at doing everything they could to torment me. Some would be meager others would try worse. So overall, I had a feeling the same would acquire here as well.
Kyomi, might I add, I trust somewhat. I don't entirely trust her yet or maybe never will, but I'm giving her a chance. I sort-of feel at home with her, even just a little. She's been nice to me so far. She's of Japanese/Chinese/American decent, causing her to look like a unique mixture of beauty. Kyomi is quite talented though; she actually is a manga artist and has published many of her creations. Her drawings usually consist of humorous angst. It's quite interesting, I'd admit. She told me she was 28 soon to be 29. As her features go, she has blood red hair (natural color I might add and is very rare among Asians), is 5'6 (tall compared to me!), has a curvy frame and has the sense to be extremely analytical and witty. I've also found out that she actually is the youngest from a family of 12; 1 sister (the oldest child) and 8 brothers along with her parents.
I think I might just like her after all.

(Third Person POV)
The rest of the summer went uneventful for Duo and Kyomi. Duo rarely went outside, mostly just staying locked up in his room reading and listening to his favorite CDs. Kyomi was kept busy most the time working on one of her manga series that had just premiered a year or so ago.
At the end of August, just a week before school started Kyomi decided that this week would be a good time to take Duo to shop for some new school clothes and supplies. Since she had already registered Duo to his new school, all he needed to do was go and collect his school books and schedule when the first day came around. She had made arrangements for him to have someone lead him around so it could be easier for him.
So when the last Friday of summer break came around, Duo and her made their way to the mall.
Never knowing that for once in Duo's life, he'd meet someone who would penetrate his mask forever.
TBC…
A/N: Kochiyami here, I thank you all for reading this so far! Please R&R. I'm not quite sure where I'm going to lead this story yet, but I'm brainstorming on it. I do plan to make this story extremely long as I'm trying to develop my writing skills and the length of my stories. I would greatly appreciate any reviews or flames, either is welcomed!
[I'm going to try my best at updating this story AND my other stories as soon as I can!]
The titles of each chapter are going to be name from a Chinese or Japanese word of my choice. They could either really relate to the chapter or just represent a word or sentence within the chapter, it just depends. At the end of each chapter however, I will share what every Chinese/Japanese word I use within the chapter is (for example, the list below).
Taki-Nobori: Climbing a waterfall
Fukumen: mask, disguise
