Alternate Ending (more angst here)

Duo:
//The death of you.//

The doctor walks out looking grim. My stomach clenches and I feel fear. He walks up to me and I prepare myself for the worst. But nothing can prepare me for what happens next. He stops in front of me and looks at me in the eye. Then he says the one thing that could stop the world from spinning. You're dying. They're tried everything they can, but your injuries are too severe. You're bleeding to death on the inside, and they can't stop it.
I numbly follow him into the room where you are. You're hooked up to all these machines, but it's just a formality now. The machine that records your heart beats is cruelly telling the world that your heart is slowing down. The heart that was strong enough to survive two wars and all the heart ache that I put you through. I sit beside you and take your still hand into mine.
My touch causes your eyes to open and you look over at me. You smile, but it's laced with pain. I try to tell you that everything will be fine, but my voice is shaking too much. The tongue that was once so glib is as heavy as lead. You shake your head and you tell me that you're sorry. That you should have been stronger.
I place a finger gently on your lips to silence you. No, you were always the stronger of the two of us. I lean over and kiss you on the lips. I try to tell you in that movement all that I was never able to tell you before. I try to send into you all the love that I feel and all the words that had always died on my lips. You smile and then begin struggling for breath. The machines start going crazy, telling me that you're slipping away. I'm running out of time.
Your voice fails you so you mouth the words “I love you” and then your eyes slip shut. I shoot out of the chair and it falls over behind me. I take your shoulders in my hands and I force you to open your eyes one last time.
“Heero, you're not getting away until I say this. I love you. I've been a damn fool for not telling you. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry that I was such a coward. I've always run and hid, but now I'm telling you. I love you. I love you. I love you so much that it will never end. So don't feel bad, because this isn't good bye. You're not getting away from me that easy. I love you and I'm coming with you.”
You try to protest but I silence you with a kiss. Your eyes lock on mine and you understand that I've made up my mind. You sigh weakly and nod. Your eyes close and the machine shrieks as your heart stops. The doctor had been standing outside the door and he comes in now. He rests his hand on my shoulder and I turn towards him. I thank him for his help, but if he'd excuse me I have an appointment I have to keep.
I take one step into the hallway and I collapse. The doctor calls for a nurse to help him, but he doesn't realize he's too late. Wufei isn't the only one with a trick up his sleeve to make his body slow down. I slow my heart and finally it stops. I'm surrounded by blackness for a moment but a light slowly comes into being in front of me. In the center of the light is an angel. He smiles and beckons, drawing me towards him. His cobalt blue eyes light up and he gathers me into his arms. We kiss as the light surrounds us both and we know that we're together forever.

Both:

//All these mixed emotions
We keep locked away like
Stolen pearls.
Stolen pearl devotions we keep
Locked away from all the world.//

A single gravestone stands on a hill. Two names are carved into the surface, standing as a mute reminder of two young men who fought valiantly for the world. A blond and a brown haired boy end their time at the grave. The blond kneels and places two roses on the newly tilled ground. A white rose and a black rose. He smiles sadly and rises into the arms of his lover. They walk down the hill slowly, feeling even luckier about their love.
A black haired boy steps out from behind a tree not too far away. He had not wanted to disturb the two as they visited the grave. He approaches the stone and stands silently. There are no words needed. He bows formally and as he straightens again, he pulls two rings from his pocket. He kneels and digs a shallow hole, depositing the rings into the earth. These were his from his short lived marriage with a remarkable woman from his home colony. He never wore his ring, and he felt that these two deserved those signs of love more than he did. He rose, dusting the dirt from his pants and he walked away.
If he had glanced back he might have seen the two figures by the stone. They watched him walk away and then they turned to each other. Each took the others left hand and they slipped on the bands of gold. Their vows had been made in a hospital room, so no words were needed now. They looked at each other with love and in a brilliant flash of light, they disappeared.

OWARI

Okay, so I can't write a sad ending. True, they died, but they weren't alone. They were together. Sap alert! So how was it? And yes, I know that I probably messed up about the whole Chinese wedding info. I don't know if traditional Chinese weddings involve rings. Info would be welcomed. Comments always encouraged and flames will be used to keep me warm. It's freaking cold in my dorm! Ja ne, minna-san!
