Zeion looked at the small remainder of Maya's attack force. Though, the battle was well fought most of his men were lost. Only the elite and skilled ones were left fighting along side himself. He pressed two fingers to his forehead. He would have more names to remember that died for his sake, but he had no time to grief when there was a battle to be won. The other pilots were still fighting. It would not be long before it was all over.
"They seem to be assembling for a planned maneuver," Duo said over the intercom.
"They plan to attack from our flanks through decoy movements," Zeion replied. "It's an attack taught to most of them."
"Yes, but we have to figure out which ones are the decoys," Duo explained.
"Their bottom right flank... that would be it so ignore them for now," Trowa replied.
"All right then so we should aim for the dead center. That would split their forces into two parts, making them scatter. That is the easiest way to take them out since they like to attack us," Quatre said.
"In other words, everyone charge through them," Wufei said, allowing Nataku to start the charging attack.
Everyone else followed Nataku into battle, charging at the oncoming enemy. The decoy flank tried to off set their attack, but it failed. The gundams headed straight towards the center flank. Mysteriously, the flanks broke up themselves and went in different directions, leaving the gundams standing alone in the battlefield.
"So they decided to retreat after all," Duo said.
"No, they were called back. Isogumi didn't want to risk losing anymore of her defense forces. For now we let them be and return to base," Zeion replied.
"He's right, there is no use in following them, for now, we rest and repair ourselves and the gundams," Trowa added.
"I wonder how Relena and Heero are doing," Zechs thought to himself.
"I must confess something to all of you once we reach your shuttle," Zeion said.
"What would that be?" Duo asked.
"You shall find out once we reach your shuttle," Zeion replied.
"If you mean you are a secret spy for that faction, then you better head back with them!" Duo retorted.
"No, it's has nothing to do with them... So please don't worry about that. I'm on your side in this war," Zeion responded.
"We'll see about that soon enough, now won't we?" Wufei said to himself.
It did take them long before they all arrived at the shuttle. They were just lucky enough that it was big enough to contain all six of their gundams. Sally and Noin greeted them as they exited the gundams and gently floated to the catwalk near themselves. Once everyone was on the catwalk, Zeion exited his gundam and came to stand near the others. They looked upon in anticipation that he would tell them something they wished to know. Zeion sighed and then begun his speech to them.
"I am not sure if this the sort of thing the protectors of peace wish to hear, but..." Zeion started. "I've been lying to you about who I really am. My name is not Zeion, the Commander of the Arc Angels as you probably have guessed."
"Then, so who are you really, because I could have sworn I've seen you somewhere before..." Duo said, holding his hand to his chin, thinking.
Zeion released the catch on his helmet and removed both the space helmet and his regular helmet. He stared at them and smiled slightly.
"I am Treize Khushrenada, former leader of OZ," Treize replied.
"Treize?!" Zechs said in shock.
"How can you be, you're dead?!" Wufei yelled.
"To most, yes, I am dead... But I survived that battle somehow to see this one today. The faction you are against are the ones that saved me. They restored me to my full health and attempted to use me in their plot in this war. If I am going to be in this war, then, I wish to assist those who I think are in the right," Treize explained.
"So how did you know we would befriend you in such a matter?" Trowa asked.
"I didn't know for sure that you would, but when I found out what they planned to take, I knew you would somehow. I thought if I could bring your perfect soldier back from their clutches, that somehow that would get you to think of me as an ally. The gundams were another, even though, they won't be needed afterwards, they are needed now," Treize answered.
"As usual, you make no sense to me, Treize..." Duo commented, scratching his head,
"So how is Heero Yui doing?" Treize asked, changing the subject and looking to Sally.
"Not so good... In truth I don't know whether he or Relena will live..." Sally replied.
"Relena..." Zechs covered his face with his hand.
"They both are determined people, I'm sure that they both will pull through," Quatre added.
"I see... May I see them?" Treize asked.
Sally looked to the other pilots for the answer. They all spoke and told her a silent yes in their expressions. Noin went towards Zechs and took his hand in hers. He looked to her as she tried her best to comfort him. Sally nodded and led the other towards the infirmary. She opened the door to find both of them asleep, Relena curled up by his side. She allowed Treize and Zechs inside first, telling the others to wait outside. Zechs and Treize neared the bed and stood on either side of it.
"I'm sorry if I brought him here too late..." Treize said, sadly.
"It's not your fault..." Zechs replied. "You couldn't have known how bad that monster was treating him."
"And the dove?" Treize asked.
"She hasn't been eating too well lately, so I'm guessing that was her downfall... She missed him too much to worry about food," Zechs explained.
"So it truly is the soldier that captivates the dove and vise versa," Treize commented. "Such an oddity, one would think it would not be possible, but it is as long as we exist in a world like this one."
"You are right about that one, Treize," Zechs replied.
"Let's leave them be..." Treize said, walking out the door.
Zechs soon followed suit and left as well. They took a seat in the lobby as Sally and Noin explained all that had happened while they were gone. They explained how Maya had broken in and shot Heero and everything that had happened in between. Treize stood up after the conversation was over.
"I would like to see Maya, personally if all possible," Treize questioned.
"What would you want with her?" Noin asked.
"To knock some sense into that heartless woman," Treize said, following Noin to the imprisonment sector of the shuttle.
Treize and Noin slowly entered the cell where Maya was securely strapped to a chair. She looked defiantly at Treize and he stared back. The both of them did like each other at all. She hissed at his presence as walked closer to her. Noin stood back ready for anything the two may do.
"So you couldn't listen to reason, huh?" Treize begun.
"Look who is talking! You are the one who betrayed Ms. Isogumi! And you say I can't listen to reason?! You have a lot of room to talk!" Maya quipped.
"At least I am doing what is right. Ms. Isogumi's ideals will only cause more casualties than there are already. I don't want anymore casualties," Treize explained.
"Soft! That's all you are soft to the core! Anyone like you or Relena Peacecraft should not be allowed to live! Your ideals disgust me so much it makes me sick to think of them!" Maya retorted.
"That is what you think, but what do the people or rather what do the human beings wish? They wish for peace and if wars like this are started then there can be no peace," Treize replied. "These thoughts I want you to reflect on to save your own humanity."
With that, Treize left the room and Noin followed locking the cell behind her as she left. They would leave her with these thoughts and more as she was left to spend her time, thinking. Meanwhile Treize and Noin joined the others in having a nice lunch together in the dining area. Of course, as usual Duo was acting like he was starving, but really wasn't. The other sighed seeing that he probably didn't bother to even chew the darn food.
"Maxwell, it would not kill you to have some manners once and a while," Wufei commented.
"But... Wuffers.. I'm hungry.. I haven't eaten," Duo said and then paused for a moment to think. "For at least five hours!"
"Oh Duo..." Quatre said, sighing and shaking his head. "What will we ever do with you?"
"Keep me because you all need Deathscythe and me on your team!" Duo said, holding up a peace sign with his fingers.
"Duo, do us a favor and never do that again..." Wufei replied.
"Get a life, Wuffers! Come on I was just having a little fun!" Duo quipped.
---Meanwhile in the Infirmary---
Relena wearily opened her eyes. They squinted at the sudden bright lights of the room, but soon adjusted. She looked at Heero, who slept peacefully, somewhat. His slightly pale cheeks were flushed. She frowned, knowing all for well what that meant. Relena gently pressed the back of her hand against his forehead, which she found hot to the touch, too hot. Her eyes flickered worry as she quickly assumed he had a fever. She noted that it was most likely from his new injury or the infection in his forearms. She brushed the bangs from his face and stared at his sleeping form. His eyes moved and they opened, looking back at her. His gaze was hazy from the fever among other things.
"So you are awake, Heero," Relena said.
"Hn..." Heero responded.
"Are you feeling better?" she questioned.
".....not really..." came his reply.
At this she laced her arms around him and embraced his form as tightly as she could without hurting him. He smiled at her, finding some comfort in the motion. His body ached all over and her gentle touch was a welcomed thing. She could tell his body was probably sore and racked completely exhausted by the fever. For right now she have to do her best in being sort of a painkiller for him. Little did she know that she was panacea for his heart. Her hand took his into it and squeezed it slightly. Heero gave her a weak squeeze in return. Relena smiled and placed a kiss upon his forehead. He flinched a bit, not use to any sort of affection of this caliber, yet.
"Thank you," he said. "...I needed that..."
