The Last of the Pacifists-chapter two
Two weeks had gone by since the day on the beach when Heero had kissed me, and no other incidents had occurred between us, nor had there been mention of that day; things went back to the way they always were between us, and life for me went on as usual. I went to meetings, conferences, and such, and all the while, Heero was near by, watching over me. I enjoyed his company, although mostly quiet, his presence was always a comfort. Even now, as I gave my speech about the latest treaty, I felt a strange sense of peace knowing Heero was on the side of the stage, watching out for me.
"-and it is my belief, that if we continue to work together, in this battle for peace, and we all come together, how can there be-" my statement was cut off by the loud screeching of the microphone. The audience groaned their discomfort, while some covered their ears. I gently adjusted the microphone, bringing the offensive noise to an end, "-if we come together as one, how can there be an opposing force to threaten the peace?" Again,. My statement was cut off by the microphone, but this time, a devious cackle filled the air, causing my blood to run cold as fear pulsed through my veins. My eyes scanned the audience and balcony for the unseen invader,
"As touching as your little speech is, Your Highness, I've got but only one thing to say…" a menacing voice hissed, "Bye-bye Princess!" Gunfire rang in my ears, and I felt myself thrown to the ground, and I was sure that I had been shot. More gunshots filled the air, followed by a pain filled cry, and a sickening thud. It grew quiet, and slowly I opened my eyes, unsure of what I might see. I saw Heero's face hovering over me, his eyes large and wild with fear,
"Relena, are you alright?"
"I-I think so…" I let my gaze fall over him, his body was at most, two inches above mine, my eyes stopped at his arm, "Heero! You're hurt!" The material of his jacket was torn, and the dark green material was an even darker shade as it absorbed the blood seeping from his arm.
"I'm fine. It just got a bit of the surface." he replied, getting off of me, and helping me to my feet, "Relena, you should know that I'd willingly give my life to protect you. I always have, and always will…" he whispered. Tears stung my eyes as I look at the wound that I had caused, I took in a slow breath in an effort to contain my guilt and grief. "Don't cry…" He whispered, wiping away a tear before it could slide down my cheek. I looked up at him,
"…I love you, Heero." Before he could respond, a swarm of Preventor agents surrounded us, hoarding us off to an awaiting car, headed over to Preventor's Headquarters. The media was buzzing after us, the terrorist attack already all over the radio, the reporters were armed with their flashing cameras and tape recorders, asking for a statement and trying to get a photo. Inside the headquarters it was quiet and reporter-free, and Milliardo and the others were waiting there for us. I fell into Milliardo's embrace, so glad to be near him again. I looked up at him, and a small smile touched his features,
"Oh Milliardo, I'm so glad to see you! I'm so sorry about what I said about hating you! I didn't mean it! I promise I didn't mean it! I'm so, so sorry!"
"It's okay. I know you didn't mean it, you were just angry, with every reason to be, but it's okay." I looked at the others and they smiled at me, as Sally went to work,
"Heero, I want to take a look at the wound, it may need stitches, though I doubt you'd let me give you any, and Relena," she turned to me, "I'd like to take a look at you too, though I know with Heero looking after you, it's practically impossible for you to even skin your knee, but still, it's my job and so that what I intend to do."
~*~*~*~*~*~ (Heero's POV)
I sat on the examination table as Sally looked over my arm, cleaning the wound, bandaging it, and asking questions about the attack, when Trowa came in.
"May I speak with you a moment?" Sally nodded, and walked over to him. He whispered something in her ear, and handed her some clothes, and turning left as quickly as he had come. Sally came back over to me and handing me the clothes,
"Here. These are to replace your current shirt and jacket, their your size. Now, go change in there while I take a look at Relena. Just leave your current ones on the table right there."

"Heero." I looked up to see Milliardo walking towards me, "the reporters out front are asking for you."
"Me? Why?"
"You saved Relena."
"Oh."
"What is your name?"
"Where are you from?"
"What is your relation to the Vice Foreign Minister?"
"Do you know who was behind the attack?"
"Did you know there was going to be an attack?" The questions kept coming and the lights kept flashing. The reporters continued to spit out one question after another, before I had time to compute them all. And before I could answer one question, they were asking another. It was never ending. Trowa stepped in front of me,
"One question at a time!" he ordered, the reporters stared at him a minute, and then looked at me.
"What is your relationship with Minister Darlian?"
"Bodyguard."
"Where are you from?"
"Colony L1."
"How long have you know the Vice Foreign Minister, and where did you meet?"
"We met over three years ago at St. Gabriel boarding school."
"What is your name?"
"Heero Yuy." Silence fell over the reporters, as they stared at me in shock and awe. I looked at them in confusion, why were they staring at me like that?
"Are you Darlian's fiancée?"
"No."
"It been rumor that you are living with the Vice Foreign Minister, any comments on that?"
"I was assigned twenty-four hour duty by Colonel Une. I'm only doing my job."
"Are you in a physical relationship with Darlian?"
"No."
"Then what is your relationship together?"
"Bodyguard and friend."
"Do you have any personal feelings for her?"
"She's a friend."
"Does she have any feelings for you?" I hesitated, remembering her words earlier, I was about to reply 'No comment' when Trowa stepped in front of me again,
"That's enough questions. Your time is up."
"But-"
"I said, enough questions!!" he barked, and as he led me back to Preventors, I stared at him, surprised, I had never heard him raise his voice so forcefully before. I never heard him raise his voice at all before. Inside, I saw Relena talking to Milliardo and Colonel Une,
"_and after all of the excitement from today, I'd really just like to go home." Lady Une nodded,
"I think that would be best." Relena nodded and turned to me,
"Can we go home Heero?"
~~*~~
When we got home, I carried Relena's sleeping form into the apartment. After laying her in her own bed; I found that I was completely unable to stand. I had no strength and no energy, and collapsed on the bed next to her, going unconscious before my head touched the pillow…
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~(Relena's POV)
Warm. I curled up closer to the source of the warmth, fighting off the cold that seemed to have taken over me. Slowly, I opened my eyes, fighting to regain, some bit of consciousness. My eyesight began to slowly focus, and I looked at the source of warmth next to me, and gasped. There was Heero, fast asleep in the bed next to me; I was curled up next to him, my head against his chest, and one of his arms around my waist. Why in the world was he in the bed with me?! I couldn't remember him getting into my bed, I didn't even remember getting in my bed… I had fallen asleep in the car. So why was Heero in my bed? I lay back down next to him, too tired to think about it any more, it was the middle of the might, and all I really wanted was to get back to sleep, I'd find out his reasons in the morning.
I felt a slight movement next to me, and then stiffening. So… he's awake. He must be realizing his current position, and from the way he's so tensed at the moment, you'd think he didn't realize that he had fallen asleep in my bed. Opening my eyes, I met the blinking gaze of an awakening Heero Yuy. He looked up at me blankly.
"Hello. Heero, I have a question, and I was hoping you could answer it."
"Yeah?"
"Why are you, or how did you get in my bed?" his eyebrows went up in surprise,
"I'm not really sure… when I got you here, you were unconscious, and so I put you in your bed, then… I don't know… I blacked out." he sat up, looking at me, "Sorry."
"I don't really mind, I was just curious as to how we ended up in our current position. Wouldn't the press have field day with this…"
"I don't even want to think about that. They were asking about our relationship today."
"Asking questions like what?"
"They found out my name, and were asking if I was your fiancée. They wanted to know if I had any comment about living with you, and I answered I was only doing my job. They wanted to know if… we were in a physical relationship. I said no. They wanted to know what my feelings for you were, and what your feelings for me were." he looked away, moving to get off of my bed. I grabbed his arm, stopping him,
"And what did you say?"
"About which question?"
"About what your feelings for me are, and my feelings for you." he didn't answer right away, but then he took a deep breath,
"I said that you were just a friend. And I didn't answer the question as to what your feelings for me are."
"Am I? Am I just a friend?" he stared out the window, watching the birds that flew across the blue sky. I let go of his arm, and grasping the sheet in my hands, twisting the soft material in my hands, realizing that he wasn't going to answer. I knew he knew what my feelings for him were, but did he have any feelings like that for me?
"No. You're not just a friend." he turned to look at me, "You're much more than that." Lightly, he pressed his lips against mine. His lips, his mouth, his kiss were so warm, so gentle, so… loving. His touch was nothing like what he came across as, cold, hard, and unfeeling. He was, instead, the exact opposite; his every movement was careful, his touch so soft, his kiss… "I love you… Relena." he whispered softly; I fought to swallow back the tears that formed when he said those words. I had wanted to hear them for *so* long, and now… he'd finally said them. Gently, he kissed me again, one arm making its way around my waist, as the other hand made its way into my hair. I held onto his shirt, afraid to let go, afraid that if I opened my eyes, I'd wake up and it would all be a dream, that his kiss wouldn't be real, and that his love wouldn't be real, that he wouldn't be real, that it would all just be another dream… He pulled back some, kissing my cheek, a heated trail along my jaw line, lightly biting and sucking the sensitive skin of my neck. I was completely numb in ecstasy, he touch set me on fire, his kiss sent my mind whirling, vaguely I could hear myself murmuring his name. He pulled away from my neck, coming back to my mouth, his lips soundly covering mine. His tongue traced the outline of my lips, and I gasped in surprise, allowing him into my mouth. Out tongues dueled, twirled, and collided as the passion continued to intensified. God! Was there nothing he couldn't do? His hand left my hair, trailing down my arm, lightly grazing my right breast. Again I gasped at the sensation, then moaning quietly into his mouth as he gently palmed my breast. I stiffened, I had never been touch by a man like that before, a man had never tried to touch me like that before. At my response Heero pulled his hand away, lifting his head to look at me,
"Do… do you want… me to stop?" he gasped out breathlessly, "I don't want to scare you."
"I…" I didn't know what to say, this was all so new to me. Heero had never done this before; I didn't want him to stop, but I didn't know how far I wanted to go? How far was too far?
"I'm not going to hurt you, Relena. But… I don't want to scare you." I leaned closer to him again,
"Don't stop." I murmured against his lips. He pressed his mouth hard against mine, his hand coming back up to my breast…
A loud banging came from the front door,
"Heero! Relena! Open UP! It's Duo! Hurry! Heero! Relena! Heero! Relena! SOMEBODY OPEN THE DOOR!!!!!!" Duo yelled from outside the front door. Heero and I pulled away from each other, eyes wide.
"Duo." we gasped in unison. We quickly got up, straightening our clothes, catching our breath. All the while Duo was banging on the front door,
"Somebody open up the door! This is an emergency! Come on you two! Come on! Heero! Relena! Open the door!" Frantically, I rushed to look in a mirror real quick. God, I hoped he didn't notice my swollen lips! Oh well, even if he did, we'd deal with it then. Carefully, I opened the door, seeing an ecstatic Duo Maxwell,
"What is it Duo?"
"We found him! We found him! WE FOUND HIM!!!! We found the Pacifist Prince! We found him! WE really found him! He's at headquarters right now! Come on!"
