Heero moved a little bit and found himself abruptly on the floor, the blond he'd climbed in next to having shoved him to the very edge of the bed in his sleep. The loud thump woke Trowa up and he sat up reaching for his gun, which wasn't there. He looked around at the two blondes in bed and remembered what had happened. -Wait... where's Heero?-
Heero sat up and glared at the cause of his wakefulness before getting to his feet. He then eyed the bed. "Why are you all over here?" The three bodies took up only half the bed, and it was the half he'd just been shoved off of.
"I don't know." Trowa grumbled and decided he had to go to the bathroom before he threw back the covers and got up.
Heero climbed over the two blondes pointedly, making sure to wake them before reaching empty mattress, only then looking around the room to see it was only the three of them. Quatre awoke with a foot on his chest. He wasn't too happy about that when he saw who the foot belonged to. He rolled over and grabbed Heero to him.
Heero allowed himself to be pulled, noting the two blondes looking at him as he was grabbed by one of them. "You shoved me out of bed."
"How could I? You were sleeping next to Milliardo." Quatre replied.
"All three of you were piled up on one part of the bed, thus you all helped shove me off." Heero flung himself out over the empty space, arms spread to make his point. Quatre scooted closer, he was in the mood for some cuddling despite his somewhat rude awakening.
Zechs watched the two, then looked around the room in mild confusion. "Where's everyone else?"
"I have no idea. Where is Trowa? He went to sleep with us." Quatre looked around, dragging Heero into his arms as he did so.
Heero allowed himself to be pulled, though he really wanted to spread out. "Bathroom, I didn't see the other two though."
"I hope he comes back soon." Quatre purred.
"Horny little thing aren't you? We have to find a new battery for our computers though, another thing to do today." Heero wasn't protesting the cuddling though.
"Yes." Quatre replied as he threw one leg over Heero, pressing his morning erection into Heero's hip to let him feel just how horny he was. "I had a nice dream last night."
"Clearly. I was having a rather nice dream too before I found myself on the floor." Heero wasn't about to let go of that, and he was feeling chatty this morning.
"I'm sorry. What was your dream about? Was I the star?" Quatre jumped straight from apology to teasing.
"Like I'm about to tell you." Heero quirked his lips then sat up, crawling away from the grabby blonde to move to the bathroom. "You almost done?"
"Awww... why not?!" Quatre pouted. "I'll tell you about mine." He offered.
"You assume I was interested..." Heero simply shook his head, tapping on the bathroom door, only to receive no answer. Heero shifted his weight. "Trowa? I need my turn, are you finished?" Again, nothing. Heero was a bit concerned now, and raised his voice. "Trowa?"
Quatre got up. He knew that Trowa had gone in the bathroom. He stood next to Heero. "Trowa?" Zechs sat up, looking to the bathroom door. He listened, maybe he could tell if there was any movement inside to be the cause for their concern. When nothing happened, Quatre put his ear to the door wondering if maybe Trowa was in the shower and couldn't hear them. He didn't hear a thing.
Heero glanced to Zechs who was clearly doing about the same thing at Quatre. "Do you soundproof your bathroom?"
"Well... not the door..." Quatre admitted.
Heero brought a hand to the doorknob and cracked it open. "Trowa?"
Trowa was sitting on the toilet, his head in his hands, staring at the floor. He hadn't heard them calling him Heero pushed the door open a bit further, seeing if he was just sitting there or was otherwise occupied. Trowa was still fully clothed, but staring at his feet. He didn't look up. Heero finally pushed the door all the way open, then raised a finger to Quatre, signifying he would return in a moment, before leaving the room to tend his bodily needs.
"Huh?" Quatre was entirely puzzled.
Heero returned only a couple minutes later, noting that Quatre hadn't moved. Heero shook his head before moving into the bathroom. "Trowa?" Quatre followed behind Heero, hesitating a little. "Trowa?" Heero knelt in front of the boy, putting his hands on his shoulders.
Trowa snapped to attention and flinched. "What?" he whispered.
Heero didn't say anything, just looking at Trowa. What could he really say to that?
"If you have nothing... please... leave me alone." Trowa whispered again.
"You've been alone more than anyone else since the dynamic three arrived. You don't need anymore time to brood." Heero moved his hands, turning Trowa to look at him.
"Yes I do." Trowa's eyes bore into Heero's, silently challenging him.
"Why? Leaving you alone so far has only created false self-accusations in your head. I don't see how any more of those can be productive."
"What would you know about it?" Trowa snapped and made a move to stand up.
Heero tightened his grip a bit. "I know what it is to blame myself for something that can't be changed. I don't know what you blame yourself for, but I know being alone never makes it better."
Trowa closed his eyes and left them shut for a moment before opening them and looking off to the side to see Quatre watching him. He sighed.
Heero quirked his lips. "Now that I've made myself speak, you can at least do the same."
"What do you want me to say?" Trowa sighed in resignation.
"Telling why you're sitting on the toilet brooding might be a start." There was definitely humor there.
"I'm sitting on the toilet brooding." Trowa parroted.
"Yes, now why are you doing that?" Heero was starting to find this scene oddly humorous.
"I had to take a shit and got stuck." Trowa replied, completely straight faced. He took advantage of the situation to stand up.
Heero pulled his hands back, then stood as well. "The pants might have been part of the problem."
"Yes, next time I will remove them." Trowa turned and walked out of the room. He was starting to get hungry. He ignored Quatre's looks as he walked out.
Heero looked after him then back to Quatre. "I don't understand it."
Quatre frowned after Trowa's retreating form. He looked back at Heero. "I don't really think I do either. He's not usually so melancholy."
Heero nodded slightly. "We should get to work." When in doubt, turn to machines.
"How about a shower?" Quatre asked, wiggling his eyebrows at Heero.
Heero shook his head. "No, where do I go about the computer systems?"
Quatre sighed. "Go see Sakheed. He can fix you up. Be sure to have something to eat though, all right? I'll try to talk to Trowa sometime today."
Heero nodded, then headed out the door to deal with food, and Sakheed. Zechs watched the room disperse, and settled himself in for a long, boring day.
Outside.
Duo woke up to a nose full of grass, and sneezed all over the person who'd been him convenient pillow all night. Wufei awoke, rather grumpily at that, and tried to push the noisemaker away. Unfortunately that noisemaker was Duo.
Duo rolled as he was pushed, and it set off more sneezing. "Ack! Grass!"
"What the fuck?!" Wufei yelled as he sat up forcefully.
Duo sat up a second later, wiggling his nose before lifting a hand to deal with the bit of green that was stuck to his cheek. "Grass."
"What's wrong with it?" Wufei asked blinking. -What a horrible way to wake up!- He groaned. "We slept outside..."
"Yes, and I got grass up my nose." Duo rubbed at said attachment.
"Hmmm..." Wufei mumbled and dropped back to the grass face first. He shivered a little, even though they were in the desert, mornings were frequently the coolest part of the day.
Duo looked at Wufei and laughed a bit. "I'm hungry Fei, lets go get some food."
"Do we have to?" Wufei pouted.
Duo nodded. "Yes, I've been getting hungry really, really easy lately."
"I'm not hungry." Wufei groaned again, but sat up anyway.
"But I want you to come with me, I hate eating alone." Duo leaned over, nipping at Wufei's lower lip.
Wufei pushed him back gently. He wasn't in a cuddling mood this morning. "Of course I'll keep you company."
Duo pouted for a second then nodded with a smile, rolling up to his feet. "Well, come on then. I can handle a crowd with you there."
"Alright, although I don't feel like dealing with a hoard of Maguanacs this morning. Think we could sneak into the kitchen?"
Duo nodded. "Yeah, I think so, shouldn't be too hard."
"Good." Wufei got to his feet and stretched. Sleeping on the ground wasn't that uncomfortable.
Duo grinned at Wufei. "Tree branches give you less kinks." Duo then grabbed his hand and started off to the main building.
"I bet." Wufei grumbled as they walked. He noticed that the sun was just barely up.
Duo was wide awake, and he had never used to be a morning person. Now he went from out cold, to wide-awake, in seconds this morning. "They do!" Duo drew them into the kitchen undetected with the distinct air of 'ta-da'.
Wufei rolled his eyes. "You're funny." He was grateful there was no one else in the kitchen. He took a seat on the counter giving a little hop to get up there and dangling his legs.
Duo just grinned, buzzing around the room as he created a pile of breakfast things, bacon, toast, eggs, milk, sausage, and quickly cooked a large plate.
"No vegetables?" Wufei scolded lifting an eyebrow at Duo.
Duo glanced to Wufei skeptically. "Breakfast Wufei. I'll make you some fried Squash if you want some though!"
Wufei wrinkled his nose. "No. Fried squash is gross." He stuck out his tongue and shook his head.
"Hey, it's the only thing that came to mind as breakfast food." Duo shrugged, holding a couple pieces of toast out to Wufei as he settled his plate on the table, and then his glass. Wufei remained on the counter as he watched Duo sit at the table. He could see the door from here. Duo moved back to Wufei, handing him the two pieces of toast before moving to his plate and setting into the food.
Wufei shook his head and put them aside. "I'm not hungry."
Duo made a face. "I haven't seen you eat anything recently, so eat at least that." Duo then returned to his food.
Wufei looked over to the door again and bit his lip. "I told you I'm not hungry."
"Okay, okay, I just don't want you less than your best once we hit that hanger." Duo grinned then returned full attention to the other half of his meal. Wufei rolled his eyes again and hopped off the counter, looking at the stove nervously. Duo had left the burner on simmer.
Duo cast a glance to Wufei after knocking back his drink, food gone. He hadn't realized he was that hungry. "Wufei?" Wufei didn't answer and reached a hand towards the burner, testing the heat. Duo picked up his dishes and set them in the sink, moving closer to Wufei. "Wufei?" Wufei flicked his fingers over the burner. The sensation felt strange to him, he focused even more intently on it fascinated for some odd reason. Duo rested his fingers on Wufei's shoulder. "Wufei." Wufei flinched a little, but didn't respond. His other hand reached over and fumbled for the dial to turn the heat up. Duo gave Wufei an odd look, hearing people approaching the kitchen. "Fei, people are coming." Wufei turned the dial all the way up and flames burst forth enveloping his hand. "Wufei!!" Duo pulled him back at that. He wasn't going to be having that on his watch.
Wufei blinked and pulled himself harshly away from Duo. "Don't touch me." He yelled softly. He shivered, the hand that was in the flames remaining completely un-burnt. Wufei lifted the palm up and stared at it, poking it with his other hand. He placed his hand onto the counter and the counter melted below his fingertips. Wufei pulled his hand away, leaving a distinct handprint in the counter now.
Duo drew back at the display. "Alright Fei." His voice was quiet and stunned.
"I didn't want to burn you." Wufei said softly, his voice sounding incredibly detached.
"I see that. Are you safe now?" Duo stepped closer, peering at the handprint.
Wufei held his hands out to Duo palms up. "Are my hands hot?" he asked.
Duo brought his hand to Wufei's, hovering above a bit before tapping them a little, finding them less than burn-worthy, he rested his hands on Wufei's lightly.
"Well?" Wufei asked, studying Duo's face.
"Not hot." Duo gave Wufei a smile, still studying their hands.
"No. Not hot." Wufei seemed baffled by this and moved towards the stove again, which was still blazing on high.
Duo tightened his hold on Wufei's hands. "Fei?"
"Yes?" Wufei replied but his gaze was drawn to the flames.
Duo reached over and flipped the stove off. "Can you not melt the counters anymore? The Maguanacs should be here in a few seconds."
Wufei blinked, and slowly nodded, the source of his fascination being turned off. "Alright."
"So can we like, get to our date?" Duo grinned widely then.
"But it's still morning." Wufei drawled slowly, his eyes still flitting back to the stove nervously as if it would spring to life. "Dates are supposed to be in the evening."
Duo pulled on Wufei. "No, dinner and movie dates are supposed to be in the evening. Haven't you ever heard of a breakfast date?"
"No." Wufei replied and began to push Duo backwards. "I have to get away from the stove." He said, his voice taking a slightly panicked edge to it.
Duo pulled Wufei along quickly, leaving the room just as the burly men entered another door. "To the Hanger!"
-What just happened?- Wufei looked at his un-burnt hand with fascination as Duo tugged him. -I should be burned...-
To be continued.
