Chapter 14

“So, Quatre, do you have any experience cooking?” Leslie asked.
“Well, not really, I try to cook things, but they always come out wrong.” Quatre explained his smile fading.
“Then we can make something really easy I guess.” Ariel offered.
“How about tacos then?” Leslie suggested as she opened the fridge to find ingredients.
“Oh, I'd love to learn how to make those!” Quatre exclaimed.
“Sounds good to me.” Ariel agreed, when Leslie turned around to get her opinion.
“Ok, then. Quatre can you get out a pan?” Leslie asked as she walked to the cupboard to find 2 cans of already cooked chicken and sat them on the counter along with lettuce that Ariel had gotten out, and tortillas. “Alright, now, Quatre pour just enough oil to evenly cover the bottom of the pan then begin heating it up.” Leslie instructed while pulling out another pan for the chicken.
“Uh, Leslie, maybe we should show him how to do the chicken first?” Ariel suggested, not over eager to let the blonde boy near hot oil.
A half and hour later Quatre had managed to spill hot oil on Ariel and Leslie.
“OH NO!! I'm sooo SORRY!” Quatre exclaimed with an expression of dismay at the girls who both seemed to be twitching in either anger or pain.
“It's fine…its fine….it wasn't that hot anyways.” Leslie grumbled as she and Ariel wiped the oil off themselves.
“Yeah, it's fine Quatre, we're not even burned.” Ariel tried to say in comfort.
“Anyways,” Leslie stated, “I'll put the toppings and everything on these and Ariel will set the table, Quatre, can you go get everyone?”
“Sure thing!” Quatre agreed, happy to be useful.
“Man, I'm glad that's over…” Leslie commented.
“Ch-yeah,” Ariel responded, “who would have thought it was possible for someone to actually be that bad at cooking?! That guy is almost completely incompetent.”
“Yeah,” Leslie agreed, “Is it really that hard to follow simple cooking instructions? I truly pity whoever is unfortunate enough to eat any of Quatre's tacos.”
“Hn.” Heero said, trying to restrain a smirk at the girls struggle to teach Quatre how to cook.
Leslie looked up, having heard Heero's nearly inaudible grunt, “What?” She asked sharply, daring him to make some kind of sarcastic comment.
“So what are we having?!” Duo said happily as he strolled into the kitchen with the rest of the pilots in tow. “OH TACOS! Yes my favorite!” Duo exclaimed after locking eyes on the platter that Ariel had set on the table.
“Everything is your favorite…” Heero grumbled as he was elbowed in the face by Duo's attempted lunge at the taco platter.
“Hey, not so fast.” Ariel said while pulling the plate just out of the braided boy's reach. “We have to wait until everyone is seated to eat.”
Everyone sat down and Duo immediately grabbed about five tacos, “Mmmm thish is goob sturf!” Duo said through a mouth full.
“Yup yup,” Ariel agreed and grabbed three tacos for herself as Leslie grabbed two.
Leslie watched Duo practically inhale his third taco, “Disgusting,” she mumbled and averted her attention to her own food.
“Hey,” Ariel whispered, “I wonder who got Quatre's tacos.” Ariel said to Leslie as they both tried to look around on everyone's plates.
“Duo got one.” Leslie whispered in return, “And the rest are still on the plate.”
They both went back to eating and began trying to listen in on a conversation that was going on between Trowa and Wufei but neither of them could quite understand what it was they were discussing. Leslie eyed Duo to see if he'd gotten to Quatre's taco yet just in time to see him beginning to scarf it down.
Leslie nudged Ariel, “Hey, look he's eating it!” She whispered.
“This is going to be good…” Ariel commented as they both watched Duo's face turn a pale green after finishing the taco.
“Umeph!” Duo grumbled before rushing out of the room.
Everyone stopped eating to stare at the now snickering girls.
“What did you do?” Wufei asked, turning a glare on Leslie and Ariel.
“N-nothing!” Ariel answered, trying to restrain her laughter.
“Really we didn't do anything,” Leslie explained, “that last one was Quatre's taco!” Leslie added in while also trying to restrain herself from laughing.
Quatre turned a semi-hurt gaze at the girls, “But I thought you said I did a good job.”
“We did?” Leslie asked, now strait faced and took a bite of her taco.
Five minutes later Duo walked back into the room and sat down as if nothing had happened. “Oh there's still more tacos!” he exclaimed and reached for another of Quatre's tacos.
Leslie and Ariel both snorted and burst out in laughter.
“What are you two laughing about?” Duo asked noting that both girls were practically falling out of their chairs.
The girls continued to laugh and Duo's face once again turned green followed by him hurriedly leaving the room.
“Baka ona…” Wufei grumbled and took a bite of one of his tacos hoping it wasn't one of Quatre's.

After lunch Duo was struggling to convince the girls they were in the future.
“So what are your favorite movies” He asked while tipping back in his chair.
“Um,” Leslie thought, “I don't really have any….I'm not much of a sit on my butt and watch T.V sort of person.”
Duo rolled his eyes over to Ariel for a response, “Um… that's a tough one…” Ariel said and began naming off almost every movie she had ever seen. “But out of all those… I think maybe X-men.” Ariel answered after five minutes of naming off movies.
“Those are all so OLD they're REALLY old!” Duo exclaimed. “Why can't you guy's believe that you're in the future?”
“Well…” Leslie began, “you have absolutely no proof.” She said while crossing her arms at the braided boy.
“Yeah!” Ariel agreed. “I mean come on you can't expect that by just telling us something we're going to automatically believe you. Where's the proof?”
“Arggh!” Duo exclaimed and threw his arms in the air, causing him to fall over backwards in his chair.
