The News

 

The rain pounded on the tin roof of the small hut. Quatre and Trowa sat playing cards as Wufei sat reading by dim candlelight. Heero stared out the dusty window concentrating on the Horizon. The rain pattered on the window in an erratic beat.

Hours passed as each drop hit and still no word or sign of Duo. The others moved on to different tasks as Heero stayed planted by the window.

“I'm sure he's fine. You should get some rest,” Quatre said quietly as he put a Hand on Heero's shoulder. Heero tensed but nodded just the same.

 

As he lay he in his make shift bed he stared at the ceiling counting off the minutes.

`He never takes this long for a routine mission, never.'

All the possibilities ran through Heeros mind as he waited for Duo's return. Hours turned to days and days turned to weeks. Yet he there was no word from or about Duo. Until one night.
