Tiger's Eye

"We're all the same, even though we're all different."
~ Just a quote. I'm the one that said it. =P

[A.C. 197]

It had been a month since the most recent assignments had been given, and all assignments were going well. The only exception to this was that they had not heard form Lee, and this worried Talia. Lee was not one to neglect his duties, one of which was to report in weekly, and even Treize seemed a bit uneasy about this.

Talia and Quatre walked to their pick up spot for the weekly meeting. They were in the same alley that Duo and Wufei had found Talia in, dressed in black and leaning against the brick wall. There was a scratching sound deeper into the alley, catching Talia's attention. Had she been there for any other reason, Talia would have simply dismissed the sound as a rat rummaging through some garbage.

Talia put her hand on her gun and signaled Quatre to stay where he was. She slowly walked deeper into the alley, her eyes darting around, watching every subtle movement of the shadows, and catching every sound. Talia slowly drew her gun, pointing it into a particularly dark corner of the alley, in a stance that would make it hard for anyone to knock her down.

"Step into the light." Talia said firmly, her finger tight against the trigger.

"My, you're very good. Tell me, how did you detect me, Talia?" A raspy voice asked from the shadows.

"Come out and I'll think about telling you." Talia said firmly. The raspy voice laughed lightly in reply.

"Alright, but be prepared for a shock, little one." The voice replied, then a creature stepped out of the shadows. It was reptilian, humanoid in shape, it had on a pair of cutoff blue jeans that were tight around it. The face was decidedly male, with human-like face structure, and spikes in place of hair. The hands had five fingers, each ending in a sharp claw-like nail, the same with his feet. His eyes were green with vertically slit pupils, he had fangs hanging out of his mouth, and a blue forked tongue that snaked out of his mouth occasionally.

"What are you?" Talia asked harshly.

"Why, don't you recognize me?" The creature asked with a laugh, "I thought you would give more respect to a good friend such as I."

"What are you talking about?" Talia asked, glaring, earning a laugh from the creature.

"My name is Lee, and yours is Talia." The creature responded.

"How do I know you're not lying?" Talia asked.

"Treize and Zechs are married, and they've adopted Wufei. You're Quatre's bodyguard and girlfriend. You're Duo's twin sister, and you're an extremely good shot. Especially with your lucky gun, the one you're holding right now." Lee replied with a laugh.

"So it is you." Talia said, lowering her gun and putting the safety on, "What happened on your mission, Lee?"

"Aside from the obvious? Not much. I'm at the mercy of some big company; they have me addicted to some experimental drug. I'm afraid they've sent me on a mission today, and if I fail, I die from withdrawal from the drug. I just came by to tell you that I'm okay." Lee said, stepping closer to Talia as the limo pulled up to take Talia and Quatre to the weekly meeting. Quatre got into the limo, and Talia began walking towards it as well.

"I'm afraid you can't go with them, Talia." Lee said, grabbing Talia's shoulder in a firm grip. Talia turned to look at Lee.

"What are you talking about?" Talia asked, eyes narrowed.

"My mission is to bring you to them. You're coming with me, Talia." Lee said, grabbing Talia's wrists with his free hand. Talia's eyes went wide with shock, Quatre stepped out of the limo, gun drawn.

"Let her go, Lee." Quatre said in a dangerously low tone.

"You think you can gun me down without hitting her? I doubt you're that good of a shot. I was a gundam pilot, and even I'm not that good of a shot." Lee replied, and Quatre looked away, gritting his teeth with a growl.

'Damn it! He's right, but I can't just let him kidnap her! That's my girlfriend! I can't call myself a man if I let him take her without me!' Quatre thought, tightening his grip on the gun, his knuckles turning white.

"Quatre, just get in the limo and go. I'll be fine." Talia said firmly, glaring at him. He looked at her, his jaw clenched, "I said go, Quatre, please." Talia repeated, locking eyes with him.

"He's not taking you without taking me, too. Ether that, or he'll have to kill me." Quatre growled out, pulling back the hammer on his gun, his eyes fiery with rage.

"Your death can be arranged, Winner." Lee growled out, his grip on Talia's arms tightening.

"Quatre, I'm your bodyguard, it's not the other way around. Get into the limo and go. Now!" Talia said, her voice rising.

"I won't let him hurt you, Talia, not before I can't stop him." Quatre replied.

"Quatre, you can't stop him, now go. I'll be fine. You know I can take care of myself." Talia replied, glaring at her boyfriend. Quatre gritted his teeth.

'I hate it when she's right about these things. Don't worry, Talia, I'll come back for you.' Quatre thought, locking eyes with Talia one final time. Quatre slowly turned around and got into the waiting limo, closing the door. The limo started towards the meeting place.

"You're smarter than you look." Lee said simply. Talia began to thrash in his grip, kicking, punching, and biting whatever she could reach. She twisted her wrists against his grip, and Lee brought something to her neck. Talia felt a pinprick, and then her world began to fade. A few moments later, she was limp in Lee's arms. Lee picked her up and carried her to a waiting van. When he placed her into the back, her eyelids finally closed over her glazed eyes, telling Lee she had finally gone unconscious.
