There was a light knock on the door to Treize's office, rousing his attention from the report he was reading, "Come in." Treize said, putting away the report for later as Lee stepped into the room.
"I want to volunteer for the assignment Talia suggested. I have no ties to the outside world, and I'm not afraid of genetic alteration. I've been through it before, and that's why I can see so well. My eyes were altered, and they now have vertically slit pupils." Lee said in a quiet but firm voice.
"What about Wufei?" Treize asked.
"What about him? He's *your* son, not mine. As far as I'm concerned he's free, even though he insists upon obeying me. I could care lass about tradition, you know that." Lee replied coldly. Treize sighed lightly.
"Very well then, you will be detailed to that as soon as the assignment is clarified. Just stick around until then. It should be done soon." Treize replied, "You do know you probably won't make it out alive, correct?"
"Of course. That's why I volunteered. I was a Kamikaze in a past life." Lee replied with a small smile. Treize allowed himself a small chuckle as Lee left his office.

"So, you have a place for me? I'd be a great bodyguard for this area. I'm known on the streets, and not too many people would dare go up against me solo. That and gangs wouldn't risk going after someone like you." Talia said, watching Quatre as he sipped his tea.
"You're right, I think. You would make a very good personal bodyguard. That way I'd only have one person around me instead of a swarm. Hm, yes, that will work nicely." Quatre replied with a gentle smile. Talia smiled back brightly as the rest of the Gundam pilots watched. When Duo saw her maniacal grin, he let out an audible groan.
"What?" Talia yelled at him.
"I *know* what that smile means, little one." Duo replied.
"Why you! You'll pay for that!" Talia screamed at Duo, then began to chase Duo around the mansion. Many foul words could be heard echoing through the building, and then there was a crash as Talia finally caught up with her twin. Then, screams and threats rose as Talia chased Duo back into the room they began in. Duo hid behind Wufei as they both caught their breath.
"Stop fighting, you two. It won't get you anywhere." Quatre said quietly. Talia looked over at him, then turned back to Duo and glared him again. Talia took a seat, her eye on Duo.

[One week later]
Quatre, Wufei, Talia, Lee, Zechs, and Treize were in the room just outside Treize's office. Treize silently looked over the small group before speaking.
"You're all here for a reason, as you know. There are assignments to be given, and announcements to be made. Lee, you know your assignment. Be careful, this is the most dangerous assignment I've given since the wars. Talia, your assignment stays the same. Quatre, just do what you do and don't let anyone know Zechs and I are alive. Now, for the announcements, Zechs and I have adopted Wufei, and he will be living with us now. Also, Talia will be let go at the beginning of next month." Treize said, and then looked them over again.
"Well, then. Now that we're done with the little meeting, can we go...?" Talia asked, stopping herself in what seemed mid sentence, "Oh, gods." Talia whispered, paling considerably and bringing her hand to her neck.
"Talia, are you okay?" Quatre asked, the others too shocked to say anything.
"Oh, gods, Quatre," Talia said, gasping for breath as her eyes filled with tears, "I, I almost said it."
"What, Talia? What did you almost say?" Quatre asked gently, slipping his arm around Talia's shoulders.
"H-home. I almost said can we go home." Talia whispered, the tears finally escaping her lashes to gently cascade along her cheeks.
"It is your home, Talia, you'll always have a home with me if you need one." Quatre replied softly, gently drying her tears with a callused finger. His touch felt like silk despite the hardened skin on his fingertips. Talia turned into his arms, hugging him gently.
"Thank you, you don't know how much that means to me. I, I've never really had a home before, well, not one that wasn't partially demolished, anyway." Talia said with a halfhearted laugh, "Oh, man, I must look like a weakling right now, huh?"
"No, you're no weakling. Everyone, the strong included, have moments of weakness. It's a part of being strong, if you never show weakness to anyone, then you're truly weak." Wufei said matter-of-factly, Treize gave him the fish eye at his remark.
"Thanks, Chang." Talia said into Quatre's shoulder, wrapping her arms around his neck, "You feel safe. Did you know that you feel safe, Quatre?" Talia asked, lifting her face to look at him.
"No, but I do now." Quatre replied with a soft smile. As their eyes met, their world melted around them, and all they could see were each other. Slowly, they brought their faces together in a sweet, gentle kiss. Their arms gently tightened around each other as they slowly broke away from the kiss.
"Wow," Talia whispered under her breath, "I've never been kissed like that before."
"I never kissed anyone before." Quatre said with a light blush and a soft laugh, "I'm glad you think I'm a good kisser."
"You're not good, you're the best." Talia said with a small smile and a blush.
"Oh, brother. I'm getting out of here before I start to heave." Lee said sarcastically as he walked out the door, ruining the moment.
"Jerk." Talia stated, sticking her tongue out at his back. She nestled her head against Quatre's vested chest, sighing as she did so.
"Well, she's certainly taken to you, Quatre. Usually, it takes a week before she'll even touch a person, and you've got her clinging to you in what? One week?" Treize said, amusement clear in his voice.
"It's not everyone that knows how to make me feel safe, Treize. He's different than everyone else; he's the man I'll love for the rest of my life. You don't find that every day." Talia replied.
"You certainly sound sure of yourself." Zechs said in his usual monotone.
"I *am* sure of myself. I'll never love anyone like I love him, and my love's only going to get stronger for the rest of my life." Talia said, glaring at Zechs as she stepped reluctantly out of Quatre's arms. Quatre smiled at her and sighed.
"Well, since we have our assignments, let's go home." Quatre said, leading Talia out by the arm.
