Wufei's Justice
Chapter Two
War…love? Cheat?!
Sally caught her breath as Wufei's words reverberated through her, and a million questions darted over her tongue. Dare she pose any of them?
"War?" Sally asked in a tone barely above a whisper.
"Indeed." Wufei answered bending over to gather up the equipment under his chair. "By their actions, they have declared war on me. Us."
"But, you said yourself, this trap wasn't meant for anyone in particular." She watched him grab a duffel bag out of a small storage cabinet and shove the laptop into it. "This isn't personal."
Wufei paused a moment to gaze sharply at her. "It is now." He turned away and moved quickly down the hall.
Sally stared after him, her eyes wide.
Why did every other sentence that came out of his mouth sound like it carried a double meaning?
"Wufei! Wait! What are you planning to do?"
She followed him back to auxiliary science where he was busy tossing tools and equipment into the duffel bag.
"Do you want to bring any medical supplies?"
"Of course," she answered automatically then caught the implication of his question. "Bring? What do you mean…bring?"
"We're abandoning the shuttle."
He said it like he was about to turn the channel on the TV. Ho hum…routine.
"But--"
"I have no time to argue with you, woman," Wufei interrupted. "We're being tracked and I expect that whoever is behind all this will attempt to disable, board, and capture us shortly. For us to win this battle, we must escape now so that we may regroup on ground of our choosing."
"I don't like it, but when you put it like that…I must admit, you're right." She drew herself up, wrapping her pride around her like a protective blanket. "I'll gather up the medical supplies and meet you in the skiff."
"Good," Wufei nodded his approval.
Three minutes later they were both seated in the cramped cockpit of the skiff, preparing to exit the shuttle.
"Our fuel supply is limited," Sally remarked. "We won't get far."
"We don't need to. We're going back to the satellite."
Sally's eyebrows rose. "Why there?"
"It's the last place they'll look. They'll think we either tried to escape to Quatre's mining project, or rendezvous with another Preventer shuttle."
"Why would they think that?"
"Before we left I sent out a mayday, and requested backup."
"Wufei!" Sally laughed. "That's brilliant!"
He glanced at her smiling face and grinned in response. "Sometimes the most effective weapon is guile."
"I can see that." She shook her head the skiff's engines fired up. "We're underway."
Wufei nodded and faced her, crossing his arms.
"Our investigation into this matter will have to wait until we return to the satellite."
"Unfortunately, that's true. We don't have the equipment here."
"So we have time to explore another matter."
Sally's heart jumped up into her throat.
"What matter?"
"You're stubborn refusal to speak to me for the past two weeks. I want an explanation, woman, and I want one now."
Anger flashed so hot and high through Sally that she was sure that if she looked up, the ceiling would have scorch marks on it.
He wanted an explanation did he?
"How does 'you're a stubborn jackass' sound for an explanation?" she asked sweetly.
Wufei snorted and waved a hand dismissively. "You call me that at least once a day."
"I'm shocked that you actually noticed," Sally's tone changed, dripping sarcasm.
"I notice everything you say and do Sally, you're my partner."
That did it.
Sally leaned forward, hands fisted on her thighs. "You wouldn't notice a gorilla if it was sitting in your chair."
"Uh?"
"You pay about as much attention to me as a man does his nose. It's there, but unless it's broken, he doesn't see or feel it."
"What?"
"Too complicated for you to understand, Wufei?"
"No. I just don't see the relevance."
"Of course you don't. You never have!"
Sally exploded out of her chair, landing a punch on Wufei's shoulder, pushing him out of his seat and onto the floor.
Wufei grabbed her around the middle with one hand while the other restrained her from hitting him again. With a quick movement he flipped her over so she was underneath him, grabbed both her wrists and pinned her to the ground.
"Have you lost your mind?!"
"No! I've finally seen the light!" She bucked underneath him, trying to throw him off, but he straddled her hips and hung on tightly with his thighs.
"What is that supposed to mean, woman?"
"My name is Sally!" she yelled. "Sally!" She struggled, trying to free herself. "If you call me woman again I swear I won't be held responsible for my actions!"
Wufei stared down at her, a confused, angry frown on his face.
"You've been angry with me for calling you woman? But I've been doing that since we met. Why is it only bothering you now?"
Damn, he was too smart. This was not a question she wanted to go anywhere near.
"None of your damn business! Now let me up!"
"No," he said with all the single mindedness of an avalanche.
"Get off me!" Sally roared, bucking, twisting, and jerking in a frenzy that managed to tear one arm away from his grip. She quickly angled her body upward, hoping to throw him off, but he recaptured her hand and forced her back to the floor. Only now he was practically laying on her, his legs trapping hers, his hips grinding into her, his weight pinning her down.
"Stop it," he ordered.
"No! Off!" This was dangerous. His body heat penetrated her clothes, warming her. Her stomach fluttered.
"Tell me!" He bellowed.
Sally's fragile hold on her temper snapped.
"I love you, you damn fool! Hearing you call me woman and treating me like--"
His mouth crashed down on hers cutting off the rest of her sentence.
This was no lover's kiss. This was hard and demanding. He did not seek entrance to her mouth with gentle touches, but with the bold movement of his lips and tongue. Stunned by the assault, Sally granted him access and he ruthlessly took what she offered.
She'd been thrown into a vat of boiling champagne. Hot bubbles ran over her skin, tickling, tantalizing, and inciting every nerve ending to riot. She shivered and moaned, twisting her arms in his grip, wanting to wind them around his neck. But he didn't let go.
He lessened the pressure on her mouth, until his lips were barely touching hers then he buried his face in her hair. With a start she realized he was trembling. Sally was having trouble regulating her breathing, but that seemed a minor inconvenience compared to her concern for Wufei.
"Wufei?" she whispered.
"How long?" he asked, his voice hoarse.
"I--" Sally stopped. It was put up time. "About a year."
He lifted his head and met her wary gaze. "I've loved you almost since the beginning."
"What?" Sally gasped. "But--"
"I didn't realize it at first, I just knew I trusted you, but after the conflict was over I recognized my feelings. I knew, however that you didn't return my affection. You offered friendship. I was content with that."
"But why behave so arrogantly, why not use my name, why did you keep me at arms length?"
"Because if I didn't I'd do what I just did a second ago. I want you. I have for over two years. The closer to me you got, the harder it was to control my reactions to you." He smiled ruefully and slowly got off her, helping her to a sitting position. "Even now, all I can think about is ripping your clothes off."
"Ripping my clothes off?" Sally's voice trailed off and her eyes widened as she repeated his statement. "Oh my."
His fingers flexed on her shoulders where he still held onto her. "You're afraid of me now. Aren't you?"
"No. No! Surprised, yes, but afraid…no. I just never expected you to say something like that." She smiled slowly and tilted her head to one side.
He regarded her steadily, though his breathing was no more even than hers. "You're sure?"
"Quite sure."
"Good." He licked his lips, but made no other move.
Sally realized that no matter what he said, he wasn't going to believe her unless she showed him. She slowly curled her legs under her till she was on her knees and removed his hands from her shoulders. She watched as he swallowed hard, settling a resigned expression over his features. Then she grabbed and twisted him, landing on top, pinning his hands to the floor.
"Now it's my turn," she said settling her lips against his.
Shock held him immobile for about a ¼ of a second then he responded, kissing her back, twining his tongue with hers.
"You're not the only one who'd like to tear off some clothes," She said trailing her lips down his chin and neck, she ground her pelvis against him and he groaned.
"S-Sally."
"See, my name isn't so hard to say, now is it?"
Wufei only groaned as she licked, nibbled, and sucked her way to his collar bone.
She let go of his hands so she could pull at the hem of his shirt, pushing the annoying fabric up to run her fingertips over his abdomen and chest. His skin was warm, smooth, and the muscles below the surface rippled beneath her questing hands.
Wufei's hands weren't idle either. They grasped her around the waist, pulling her into full contact with his body, then glided up till his palms brushed over her breasts.
Sally moaned as he moulded his hands over her, teasing her nipples with his fingers. He rubbed harder, one hand moving to wrap itself around the back of her head so he could kiss her even deeper.
Sally's hips undulated as the action of his hand on her breast triggered an uncontrollable urge to move. She was cooking over a slow fire, burning, frying to a crisp and she enjoyed every second of it.
Wufei growled and thrust his tongue into her mouth in a smooth rhythm that imitated the most primal of mating movements.
The skiff's proximity alarms went off, throwing a bucket of icy realization over them.
Sally jerked her head away, staring down into Wufei's eyes, watching as his passion dilated eyes slowly returned to normal.
Oh god. What were they doing?
