Wufei's Justice

Chapter Three

Sally scrambled up, sliding into the pilot's seat. Hands moving on automatic, she turned the alarm off and began docking procedures with the satellite. Wufei brushed past her as he sat in the co-pilot's chair, but she didn't have the nerve look at him.

Was her face as red as it felt, hot and steaming with sweat? Probably. What had possessed her to attack him like that?

He said he loved her.

But instead of that revelation making things clear, a million new questions vied for attention inside her head. She thrust them aside to focus on the task at hand. Sally cut off the engines, allowing momentum to carry them the remaining distance to the tiny metal structure ahead.

"Twenty meters…fifteen--" Wufei relayed.

Sally activated the reverse thrusters and rotated the ship for docking.

"Ten…eight…six--" Wufei's hands moved rapidly on the console.

Sally hit the thrusters again.

"Four…three…two…one." A slight bump. "Contact."

"Docking complete," Sally said as she engaged the clamps holding the skiff to the satellite and shut down all but the most basic of life support systems on board. Conserving fuel and battery power was essential since the small craft was all they had to escape in if something went wrong.

"I've been thinking," Wufei said, turning in his chair to face her. "If we're very careful and a little bit clever, we might be able to divine the culprit behind all of this by dissecting the parasite program. I should be able to do that using the satellite's on board computer."

"Yes," Sally agreed, welcoming the distraction from the chaos of her emotions. "Completing the reconstruction of the deleted scanner logs will provide further evidence. I'll take care of that."

He nodded. "Let's get started then, we have no time to waste."

Sally stood, almost bumping noses with Wufei as he also gained his feet.

"Sorry," she whispered, not daring to meet his gaze, but God he smelled good. Her mouth watered.

A hand tilted her face up and he kissed her with a tenderness that brought tears to her eyes.

"One does not apologize for good fortune, Sally," he said, holding eye contact with her.

She opened her mouth to reply, to make light of the situation, to utter some witty comment, but couldn't think of a thing to say. So, she closed her mouth and nodded instead. Then he did the one thing she least expected of him. He smiled…at her.

He moved away before she could react, picking up the ridiculously full duffel bag.

"That must weigh a ton," Sally said, the comment automatically rolling off her tongue. "Trying to bulk up?"

"Don't be ridiculous, Sally," he said in his usual holier-than-thou tone. "The difficulties in fighting effectively with muscles that are too large are too numerous to mention."

Now this was the Wufei she knew.

Sally grabbed the few tools she thought she would need and followed him into the satellite.

"Really? But, you have to agree that a big physique is intimidating."

He snorted. "Having a body-builder type stature only invites useless challenges from dishonourable sources. Brute strength always loses against skill."

"Ah." She managed to refrain from commenting further, but couldn't wipe the grin off her face.

Wufei cast a quick glance at Sally. Her usual smile was back without the tension he'd seen a few minutes earlier. His gut unknotted a bit.

The shock he'd seen on her face hadn't been a good sign. Did she regret her words and actions? He compressed his lips, coming to a quick determined decision. No matter the answer, he wouldn't give her a chance to regret anything.

The moment he ran out of tasks to keep her busy he'd kiss her again, and keep on kissing her until she got used to the idea that he was more than a co-worker now. He was her partner, in every sense of the word. With his battle plan made, he turned his attention to the satellite's computer.

"Wufei, look at this," Sally said an hour later.

They'd both worked quickly to find any identifying trace of who had deleted the scanner logs and planted the parasite. They were close, having uncovered fragments of information, but like a puzzle without all the pieces, they had yet to extrapolate an entire picture. No, what Sally called his attention to was far more immediate. The satellite's prime function was to conduct detailed scans of this quadrant of the galaxy, and right now, it was reading a full half dozen ships approaching their shuttle, still on it's way to Quatre's mining operation on autopilot.

They watched the six ships approach on a tiny monitor, the scans indicating that each ship was as well armed as their shuttle.

"I don't recognize the design," Sally commented with a frown. "Do you?"

"No." Wufei adjusted the scanner controls slightly then headed to another console and began typing in commands. "I'm running it through the computer to see if it's registered."

"Good idea." Sally nodded her approval. "They're hailing our shuttle. I'll put it on audio."

"…Shuttle, please respond. Our scans indicate you are having engine trouble."

"Engine trouble?" Sally's voice was scathing. "How stupid do they think we are?"

"That message is only meant to distract us long enough for them to get within weapons range. Nothing more."

Wufei shook his head. "The design of those ships is registered with the Reliant corporation." He turned to look at her.

"I've heard that name before, but I can't remember where." Sally stared at him. Suddenly her eyes widened. "Wait, I remember! They're a rival of the Winner corp. They've been trying to buy several of Quatre's holdings, but he refused to sell. I don't know all the details, just that he disapproved of them."

A bright flash filled the monitor for a second.

"It seems Quatre's distrust of them is well founded," Wufei remarked dryly.

"I can't believe it…they didn't even try to board the shuttle, they just blew it up."

"I believe we have discovered who stole and deleted the scans."

"Yes, but," She waved one hand around in a futile gesture. "Now what? There're six hostile ships out there. The back up you called for won't consist of more than one ship. They'll be hopelessly outmatched and we can't help them in the skiff."

"We could ask for more fire power," Wufei replied moving over to the communications console.

"What?" Sally made way for him absently. "How do you plan on doing that without alerting those goons that we're here?"

"In addition to the high frequency, narrow band scans, this satellite also constantly sends out low frequency wide band scans in all directions. I'm going to piggyback our transmission on the ones headed in the direction of earth."

Sally laughed. "Wufei, I think you've been spending too much time with Duo lately."

He glanced at her sharply. "Maxwell? Aside from the odd mission I rarely see him. He's too busy running that junkyard of his and trying to make babies with his wife to make sensible conversation." He shook his head.

"I'm referring to all this sneaky behaviour," she said, smiling.

"Good tactics does not equate to sneaky," he denied. "However, I will admit to doing almost anything to win." He gave her a sidelong glance. "As long as it's legal, of course."

Sally stared at him. "Of course," she repeated softly.

Wufei checked the monitor. The six ships hadn't changed course. He moved closer to Sally.

"I'm glad you approve."

She backed up.

"Well, as long as your methods don't involve hurting anyone needlessly--" her voice trailed off.

He moved toward her again, backing her into a wall.

"I would never hurt anyone needlessly."

A blush crept up her neck to redden her cheeks. "I never thought you would."

"Good," he said as he dipped his head slightly to kiss her. Pleased to note that she was shorter than him now, by a good four inches.

Her lips softened and parted beneath his immediately. He slipped his tongue inside to taste her, finding the flavor that was Sally addicting. He couldn't get enough. Her clean, tart, lemony scent enveloped him, making him even hungrier for her. But, he couldn't get enough. He was dying in a caldron of heat, waves upon waves of scalding sensation beat at him.

He pulled her close, needing to feel her body against his, her soft curves, the ragged movement of her breathing, all of which enflamed him further. He crushed her to him, one arm locked around her back, the other seeking out the crest of her breast and the sensitive nipple there. He wanted her wild. He wanted her to know that she was his.

He touched her and she groaned, one hand moved from it's position around his neck to the back of his skull, as she tried to take control of the kiss. He let her thrust her tongue into his mouth, enjoying the feel of power that that small surrender gave him and rubbed his painfully erect penis against her.

She tore her mouth away, shivering, and buried her face in the crook of his neck. Then she pressed her pelvis forward, rocking against him.

He groaned and shuttered.

"Oh God, Wufei," she whispered. "I want--"

"I want you too," he interrupted. "You have no idea how much."

She pulled away from his neck and stared him. He knew what he must look like, swollen lips, flushed face. Her eyes trailed down. His pants did nothing to hide his erection. She stared at it for a second before releasing her hold on him and pushing him away.

Wufei understood. It was too soon, too fast. He would let her go, endure the discomfort and wait until she was ready.

"What's the status of those ships?" she asked in a breathy tone.

He glanced at the monitor. "No change in course, they're obviously intending to rendezvous with our backup."

She nodded. "Okay. Good. Wonderful." She unzipped her Preventer jacket and dropped it to the floor. Her shirt quickly followed. So did her pants.

Shock reverberated through Wufei. What was she doing?

"Sally?"

"Aren't you warm in all those clothes, Wufei?"
