Hellsing Fan Fiction ❯ A Fallen Vampire ❯ Dream ( Chapter 1 )

It was a quarter past midnight. Clouds rolled across the moonless night and thunder boomed, rattling the windows. Integral bolted upright just as a streak of lightening lit up the sky. She was dampened by cold sweat and her breathing was high-pitched and irregular.

Integral fumbled around at her nightstand for her glasses and placed them on her face with trembling fingers. Another flash of lightening jerked her gaze to the window far from the bed. It had been another nightmare. Integral cursed under her breath for it had been the third one in a row.

And all of them were the same. It was dark in the background and she was looking up at the shadowy ceiling. All the while her vampire servant, Alucard, was shaking her violently cursing angrily at her. His red-wine eyes were wild and intense, his white teeth stained with blood and dripping from his fangs.

Was it an omen?

Were her dreams warning her that Alucard would soon rebel and attack her? Bite her and force her to drink his blood, then become one of him? To become his slave just like he was hers?

Integral pulled out a cigar and lit it. She dragged it from her lips and let out a stream of smoke. It was possible. The vampire was known to be insane and he did seem to dislike her with all his taunting and teasing.

Why, not too long ago he had begun to question her orders! She had to be very wary now. If her dreams proved true, then she was in for one hell of fight.

She exhaled another puff of smoke before turning her attention to the window. Rain began pounding at it and the roof above as lightening and thunder shook the very foundation.

Alucard prowled the halls like he usually did, giving quick fang-revealing smiles to the servants. They quivered or crossed themselves before turning away. The dark haired No Life King chuckled at this.

After turning a few halls he paused, tilting his head to the side and his eyes rolling up to stare at the ceiling but not really focusing on it. He trained his enhanced hearing onto one single sound, tuning out the storm and the low chattering from the servants and guards.

It was a steady rhythm of a soft beating. A heart beat. Smooth, alluring, and gentle. A grin spread across his face and he started walking again only going through the walls.

His master awakes!

A chuckle rumbled deep in his throat as he slid back into a hall and stood in front of the door. He stood there, just listening to the steady heart beat, his smile growing slightly sad.

How he wanted Integral to just give in to his constant insistence and take his blood. It would be such a terrible waste for someone spirited and fiery as her to just wither and die. She would be an excellent creature of the night with all her cold wrath and strength.

He wanted her to have her by his side as they destroyed the threats of London together. To have her gradually see through his heartless exterior and into his once bright soul. To have her belong to him. To make her his and keep her for all eternity . . .

But sadly, his master was a proud and unbelievably stubborn woman. With a sigh, Alucard slipped through the wall next to the door and came through on the other side.

There, sitting in her bed smoking those damned cigars, was the woman who had freed him from the bonds of hell in the dungeon below.

Her head slowly turned and she gazed icily at him. He smiled and bowed before taking a bold step into the room. She watched his every move and he found that she was . . . a little more tense than usual when he appeared.

"Alucard," she grumbled, obviously still half asleep.

"Master," he said, tipping his large red hat before clasping his gloved hands behind his back and made his way to her side of the bed. He stopped beside her and glared evilly at the slender cigar stuck between two fingers.

"Those will eventually kill you, Master."

"Thank you for stating the obvious," she said, taking another long drag from it just to test her vampire slave.

"Evil woman," he said, grinning at her wickedness.

"What do you want, Alucard?" she asked with a heavy sigh, snuffing the cigar out in the black glass ashtray beside her.

"Nothing at all, actually. I had sensed you were awake and decided to visit you," he said, eyeing her pale neck that was exposed from her nightshirt. His eyes darkened and the pulse in the slim column seemed to beat louder.

"Well, your visit is being cut short. Leave," she stated coolly, knowing all to well what he was looking at. He blinked, snapping back into reality then nodded. He bowed, tipping his hat and backed up through the wall again, keeping the same pose.

Integral let out a shaky sigh. He was becoming more and more of a threat to her by the day or in his case, night. Slowly she pulled off her glasses and placed them on the stand again and slid deep under the warm covers.

Her hand slid along her thigh until it came upon a leather hostler. Her fingers curled around the cool butt of the pistol. Having her gun with her even while she slept was just ridiculous. Something had to be done.
