CHAPTER FOUR: SUPPOSED TRAINING
Alucard rose the next night feeling the sun start to set. He could feel Seras' presence in the room across the hall, her scent even stronger than the day before. He sat up stretching his muscles deep in thought. If her scent was getting stronger than it meant that he must move quickly and mate with her soon, before her time of the year ended. He knew that most female vampires went into heat for a month, but since this was her first time it wasn't guaranteed that it would be a whole month. He nodded to himself in agreement. He would have to let her find him soon so he could start breaking her. He gave a big grin, wondering if Integra knew what she had actually gave him permission to do. He snapped out of thought as he felt Seras start to stir. He had to mask his presence before she awoke, and also think of a place for her to find him so that she wouldn't waste more time making new friends.
It was then that Alucard gave a sarcastic laugh. He didn't really have to mask his presence; he could just wait for her in front of the hotel. He smiled as he thought of how much fun it would be for Police Girl to find him there waiting, and wondering if he knew about her little fun the night before. He faded into the wall, his laughter following him as he went to wait for her.
Seras awoke that night feeling refreshed. She didn't want to admit that it might be because she had fed on Julian the night before. She sat at the edge of the bed, remembering him making her cringe at how mad he must be. She didn't know if he was awake yet but she hoped that he wasn't looking at the locks on the door. She bent down, opening the bag that held her blood supply and noticing that she would need to put in some new ice soon. She held the bag of blood in her hand, debating on whether to drain it or to put it back into the bag. A vision of Alucard's face flashed through her mind. He wouldn't be pleased if she showed up weak, and he might even force her to hunt saying that it was training.
Seras bit down hard into the bag, draining it in seconds, and thinking that she would die before she would actually hunt a human like some animal. She dropped the empty bag back in with the others and zipped the larger bag back up. She stood, lifting the heavy bags onto her shoulder, and quickly went to open the door. She had to get out of there before an angry Julian woke up and tried something else. When she opened the door, she felt her Master's presence below and she cringed, wondering why he had found her instead of letting her find him. Her steps stopped when the idea that he might know something of what had went on the night before entered her head.
Seras gave a small laugh, thinking how could he I would have known if he was near? She looked at Julian's still closed door; a small smile on her lips, happy that he obviously hadn't woke up yet. She gave a large sigh of relief and started her way down stairs, only pausing at a mirror to straighten her hair and shirt. She had decided to leave her uniform at the manor, knowing that it would cause a lot of questions. And if she did do something wrong, Hellsing would hear about it because of the crest on the arm of the uniform shirt. She had decided to dress normally as if she were just a traveler on a trip; she wore a pair of loose-fitting jeans topped with a rose-colored shirt. She didn't feel the need to cover her eyes, because she hadn't planned on looking anyone in the eye. Seras' mind returned to Julian and their first meeting; it had been her eyes that had attracted his in the first place.
Seras walked up to the front desk, returning her key and walking to the front door. After taking a deep breath, she opened it. She immediately looked to her right, her eyes narrowing when they were met with a pair of sunglasses and a red coat.
“Hello Master, I didn't think that I would see you so soon.” Alucard's face broke out into a large grin, tilting his head and letting his glasses slid down a bit so he could get a better look at her as he said
“Hello Police Girl, how have your travels been? Did you meet any new friends?” Seras tried to hide her shock at his questions so she looked the other way, acting like she was occupied with looking at the few people left on the street, as she answered
“I have been fine Master. The trip was quicker than I thought it would be.” Alucard suppressed his laughter at how she had avoided answering the last question, but he decided to let it go for the moment. He would have more fun with it later. He stood from his leaning position against the wall and asked
“Are you ready Police Girl?” Seras quickly, turned coming in eye contact with the sunglasses once again. Lowering her eyes to her boots, trying to hide her light blush, she asked
“Ready for what Master?” Alucard started to laugh as he saw through her hair and noticed her blush, but also noticing how pretty she was. He immediately cleared his thoughts, knowing that it was her scent that was making him think that way. He couldn't give in to it yet. But soon, yes very soon, he could give into his urges, but for the moment he had to get them away from the town before someone else was attracted by her smell and wanted her. He stopped laughing and became serious in seconds, as he answered the Police Girl's question, deciding to have a little fun with her while he was at it.
“For your training. What else could there be Police Girl?” Seras started to fidget, making her embarrassment hard not to notice as she said in a quiet voice
“Yes that's right, the training. That is what I meant all along Master.”
Alucard couldn't help himself, as he started to laugh again at how uncomfortable he had made her by just asking her a simple question. He was excited at the thought of how much fun was yet to come when they did make it into the mountains. There he would play with her, and then after he broke her he would make her his and his alone.
Seras broke through his thoughts as she excitedly asked
“So where are we off to Master?” She couldn't help but think it odd at how distracted her Master had been these past few minutes; he had always been so calm and collected at Hellsing Manor. She was so lost in her thoughts that she gave a little jump when Alucard answered her, saying
“There is an old abandoned house I used to use back in my younger days. Shall we use that?” Seras gave a nod, wondering why he had even bothered to ask her in the first place. But she snapped out of her thoughts as Alucard started to lead the way.
Seras looked around at the villagers, giving them smiles as they stared openly at the man in front of her with the large red overcoat on. And, before long, the village gave away to fields, and she noticed that they had taken a left at the fork in the road. Seras glanced quickly at the sign before they passed it; it read names with an arrow underneath each name. From the way they had taken, they were now on the one called Mountain pass. After the split in the road, their part of the road narrowed to a small path that went up at a large incline.
Seras stumbled every so often as the path became made more of rocks than grass, but each time she would catch herself before she fell flat on her face. She would not let herself look like a fool in front of her Master. After all, she had traveled this whole way herself without any problems. She stopped walking as the word problems rang through her mind, realizing she had just lied to herself. She had a problem and its name was Julian. She closed her eyes, her fists clenching, as she remembered how good his blood had tasted. And when she opened them again, raising her eyes, she started to jog to catch up with her Master's retreating back.
Seras was out of breath when she reached him and cursed herself for stopping in the first place, calming herself down a bit with a few gasps. All she needed was for Alucard to notice that something was wrong and read her thoughts. She hadn't told him about Julian or how she had bit him, taking his blood into her. She knew that he would be pleased at how she had handled the situation, but he would also be furious at her stupidity for even trusting Julian enough to let him that close.
Alucard heard Seras pounding up the rocky path behind him, so he took a peak at what she was thinking. It was that stupid friend Julian or something she was thinking about! He stuffed his hands into his pockets, turning them into tight fists as he clenched his teeth. Stupid Police Girl, she didn't even know that her little friend was dead! That thought made him relax a bit, a smile returning to his face as he thought, Yes dead. I wonder how she would react if she knew that I had drained him dry only moments after she felt guilt? With her checking to see if he had died, relief waving from her when she did feel his pulse. Alucard thought about turning around right that moment and telling her what he had thought, but that would make her mad and it would be more fun if he saved it for later.
Seras hummed a tune in her mind, thinking how quiet it was. Even the crickets weren't chirping. She knew that they had been walking a while and the whole time they had been climbing higher and higher into the mountains. She wondered how far this house was into the mountains and why her Master had used such a hard place to reach. Then the thought occurred to her that he had probably had just flown up to it, which would definitely have been a lot quicker than walking. That turned her thoughts to the idea of flying, how she wanted to fly and feel free. She really hoped that this `training' had something to do with teaching her how to fly, or at least hover. She would be happy with a little hovering.
Alucard could hear Seras' thoughts, since she was thinking so loud. He gave a smile when she talked of being free and had hopes that he would teach her how to fly. His smile widened as he thought that he might teach her how to fly at first, and then he would teach her how to fly his way. His chest started to shake at his little joke but he snapped out of it, quickening his pace and thinking how her scent smelt so good with the damp night air. Alucard had one thought ringing through his head. He had to reach the house quickly before he did something he couldn't control, and her scent was slowly driving him mad.
Alucard let out a breath that he hadn't known he was holding when the outline of a small house came into view, the moon behind it making its silhouette seeming to glow. He had made it with Police Girl's virginity intact and mentally gave himself a pat on the back for his effort. He stepped off of the over grown path and led the way to the house that held a few dark memories within its walls.
Seras almost walked right past where her Master had left the path, lost in her thoughts of flying. It was the sound of rustling grass that got her attention. She raised her eyes, seeing the outlines of a small house, looking more like a shack, and it gave her the creeps with the way it seemed to glow with the moon behind it. She noticed that she had once again fallen behind, so she marched through the over grown grass toward what for now would be her home. As she got nearer, she noticed that it indeed was a shack. The paint had peeled off a long time ago and the walls seemed to be rotting in the moist air. She was a little disappointed that her Master had brought her to a place like this. She could hardly believe that it was livable, let alone that he had once lived there.
Alucard could feel the confusion coming from Seras' mind as they neared the abandoned house. He smiled again at how naïve she could be at times, but said nothing as he walked up to the front door. He placed his hand on the rough surface of the front door, his face becoming serious as he remembered how it had hidden him from many enemies. He lightly pushed the door, hearing a squeak as it opened to an empty room.
Seras held her bags close. She didn't know why, but the little shack gave her the creeps. And when her Master entered all she could do was stand there, her legs refusing to budge from her spot at the front door. Her eyes grew wide as she saw the mess of dirt and broken glass that littered the floor. And she couldn't help the little yelp that came from her lips when her Master cracked a twig underneath his foot.
Alucard heard the little sound that came from Seras' direction and turned to see what she was doing. He couldn't help but laugh as he saw the girl practically shaking in her shoes. He couldn't believe that she was scared of an old house, but his eyes narrowed as he caught her scent on a small breeze. If she was scared then, he would just have to keep her close to him at all times so he could protect her. But no one would be there to protect her from him.
