Doom 3 Chapter 1 Part 2
It's all too convenient, Betruger laughed to himself. No one can shake a finger at their credentials, they're good. But are they this stupid? He brought the ladies to a stop in front of an armor-clad man.
“Ah, Sergeant Kelly. It is good to see you.” Emie flinched at Betruger's voice. It dripped acid; she could have sworn that it had melted the floor in front of him. An energy force swirled around the both of them. Savvy whispered to both Emie and Shika; “They're doing something that they shouldn't…” Both nodded and returned to looking at both of the men as they secretly conversed about something.
“Ladies,” Sergeant Kelly addressed them. “Your first assignment is in the power supply room. You will have a guard, incase something…” He paused. “Bad. Happens.”
Shika looked up. “What would happen? I thought UAC was one of the safest factories in the universe.” Both Betruger and Sergeant Kelly laughed heartily.
“My dear woman. Every moment something good happens, or there is not an accident is a moment closer to when a horrible accident will happen.” Betruger's eyes shined as he spoke. Now it was Emie who asked a question.
“That man,” she pointed towards a man clad in a scientist's coat. “Why is he installing medic stations?” Sergeant Kelly pushed the women towards the power supply room.
“In due time, demonologists. In due time.” All three girls hissed at Kelly. They didn't like being touched. Who knows what these people are up to. However, Sergeant Kelly continued to move them into the room, said forebodingly “good luck” and left without so much as a thank you. The guard in the room was a Marine. Much like the others that were whispering about them earlier. This one spoke right out to Shika, why, no one was really sure.
“Your equipment is on the table.” He pulled matches out of his pocket and handed them to Savvy. Shika whined and Emie laughed. Emie turned to the table and began to look over their equipment. There was absolutely nothing that would indicate that they were solving a paranormal problem. Instead, sitting on the table were three flashlights, six sets of extra batteries and three pistols. Extra bullets were provided on the next table.
“What will we need guns for?” All three were by now; extremely skeptical of what the Hell was going on. The Marine looked nervous and said to Emie; “You all need to get them out of here. The infestation is only getting worse. Delta Labs Sector 2a has all of them…Keep your guns close. There is a cabinet with three machine guns near by. The code for it is 4598. Please don't tell anyone that I told you. Doctor Betruger wants... Doctor Betruger wants…” Everyone looked fearfully at the shaking Marine. All they could say was;
“What?”
“Move quickly, pick up what you can use! Try to escape!” promptly, the Marine collapsed. Savvy moved closer quickly, felt his pulse and yelled for Emie to get the syringe from the medic station. Shika pounded on the door that Sergeant Kelly had pushed them through. There was a maniacal laugh…And the lights shut off.
